[Q] Samsun S2 - Root - General Questions and Answers

Hello,
Around 2 years ago I did the root process to my phone and everything worked fine... now I am trying to do it again, but I don't remember exactly how to put the files in Odin so I can use them.
Right now I have Odin and these 3 files in the same folder:
PhilZ-cwm6-XXLSJ-OXX-3.1
PhilZ-cwm6-XXLSJ-OXX-3.1-signed
I9100XXLSJ_I9100OXXLS1_OXX
Can you please help me to know how to arrange them in Odin in order to do the root one more time!? Or how to use them!?
Thanks a lot!!

just download framaroot, from here on xda, and use it to root, or towelroot, or vroot. the possibilities are endless, just google "how to root galaxy s2 and find any one of a hundred guides telling you exactly what to do.

Some one help!!! Behold 2 root

Please am tired of my Samsung Behold 2, like the original mode, so, I was trying to root the phone, but when i start the steps the SDK dont respond, I need help with that, if someone have done this, please tell me how!!!
Why don't you try using a custom ROM that already has root access (like bh_man's take5)?
behold 2 root
the behold 2 was my first android and very simple to root. to get root all you do is download the bh2 rom you want (with root indtalled on the rom) then unzip it on your computer. download odin multi downloader. plug your phone in to the computer, put the unziped files in where they should in the odin downloader, put phone in download mode, and when odin says ready click start. it may take time let it finish. thats it your rooted!!! enjoy!!! Some Tom's may not have root on them and you w ill have to root by Googling how to root Samsung behold 2
did my post help? hop it did, but figure youve upgraded by now. let us know how this did/didnt help.

new easier rooting method

if you have the samsung stratosphere there is only one known root method which involves pushing su and busy box and if your like me those parts never seem to work so i found out that if you use the heimdall method to just flash the zImage kernel. you can then use superoneclick to gain root access without manually pushing su and busy box.
can anyone else confim this? i would try it but i am semi bricked from the odin root way =/
onceclick root works! just flash the root-zimage and then use zergrush
where do i find it
ok i might be new but.. where do i find the "zImage kernel" to flash it?

[Q] Rooting SM-360P

So the Samsung Galaxy Prevail LTE (aka Samsung Galaxy Core Prime) has been on the market for almost 3 months now, and I've yet to find any applications or methods to root this device.
Maybe I'm looking in all the wrong places?
So far I've tried the following:
-iRooot (formerly vRoot)
-Kingo
-TowelRoot
-OneClickRoot
-SRSroot
Also I've tried to root via the ADB push method to load busybox and su. However, hooking the Android up to a machine running Ubuntu and launching Nautilus, I'm unable to see or browse the directories on the device.
So does anyone have any recommendations or know of any apps or methods that might work?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Unfortunately these phones don't seem to be very common or sold in certain territories making it difficult for developers to root them. Keep looking for a root as you never know when one will come out but as far as I'm aware the phone has not been successfully rooted yet.
kingroot_4.0.0 so far is what ive found. not like having su but i can install viper and xposed and both work so its a improvement.
There is a root available over on Androidforums.com under the heading "prevail LTE root". It uses another recovery and rooting for another model samsung but it does work ok. I tried it on my prevail LTE and is currently running rooted right now. When you first do it I recommend you do it after a fresh wipe and then wipe again immediately thereafter because it will give you a system UID error if not. So use Titanium Backup to restore apps and settings after you wipe ( judiciously). I've talked to shabbypenguin to see if he would develop a recovery for it. He's busy so I guess I mean I'm waiting right now for him to get to it.<br />

CF-Auto-Root-fortuna3gdtv-fortuna3gdtvvj-smg530bt with odin 3.07 will root phone. extract recovery img with 7zip from firmware and change format to tar and you can reflash stock recovery.
Now how do we get a custom recovery cause im having a brain fart. But this is only my second phone to root and last one was pretty much 2 yrs old and i just followed a forum.
I used the latest version of Kingroot and it was a simple one-click root. The version i used was in Chinese, i think, but i went to their website through chrome on my laptop and just let google translate the page and then followed the instructions from there...Now im real new to all this so im sure there may be easier ways...My phone is rooted, I have my MSL, so i have to ask... Now what?

Exactly
You and me both are wondering this. It would be sweet to run this device on CyanogenMod.
I second that
We need Cyanogenmod for this device!

I hope they come out with a custom recovery and custom rom SOON . There's so many things I'd like to see happen with this phone . If a dev sees this i hope he/she can make something happen Plleeaassee !!!!
Anyone making progress on this phone? I too would like to have Cyanogenmod on it if possible!
I used the method show at androidforums. com/threads/prevail-lte-root.906261/ to root 2 devices mine and my wife's both work fine with SU enabled too. Now I just need some custom roms to make it work like it should have from factory lol
Bump!
Just wondering if there is a user friendly rooting method for this Samsung Galaxy Core Prime out yet?

My bad for n00b question but where do i find the correct custom ROM & hotspot & cf?
Any idiot proof tutorial or youtube on this for step by step how to?
The ones ive read of using custom ROM enough have reported bricking their phones some of which have been recovered & others not.
Then ive read some missing features like tethering/hot spot.
Mainly i want to easy move all 3 parts of data of an apps to my 128gb SD cause the available on-board 5gb ill use up in less than a month.
KingRoot has a root exploit for the newest Galaxy Prevail LTE. I'm rooted and running the Xposed Framework.
Can give u hotspot for $20
Still waiting on a custom ROM for this device. Anyone have any success?

How did you get the MSL? I haven't been able to find a tool that has worked. Thanks

[Q] Help with rooting a N8000ZSCMD1

I have a GT-N8013 which I have rooted a while back. Well my husband decided to get me a N8000ZSCMD1 so I would have 3G. After getting it and having the SIM slot not working and replacing that, I am now trying to root it. Odin tells me it was successful but when I do a power + up I get the original software.
I have found out that this model is actually from Twain (which is funny since that is where my husband was born). I don't know if I need a special CWM to install on here? I did a lot of searching on the Internet and didn't find much. I saw some stuff in Chinese but I can't read it and my husband came here when he was 4, so he is not help either.
I am used to the new Android seupt from my Galaxy Note 4 and my rooted Galaxy Note 10.1 wifi. So I would really like to get this updated.
Any info would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Root does not change the software it in effect gives the user administrative rights at the root level and changes nothing .
Root check use one of the root check tools from play store .

[q] root/downgrade baseband

I have been trying all day to root my SCH-S968C and I find it rather frustrating. Every thing I've tried put me at a dead end. It came to my attention I have to downgrade my baseband from H2 to H1. In researching for the firmware file I came across only one on SamMobile.com and of course it gave me problems and wouldn't extract. Please somebody help me with where I can find the correct files to download so I can finally root my phone.

Go to towelroot.com download app and open it. PS: Click the big icon on page, shamefully it took me 5 minutes to figure it out! Lol That is the easiest method I know of. Its faster amd safer than ODIN, etc. I think it is valid thru Kitkat possibly higher regardless of baseband. After you have root install SuperSu from play store. I would enable pro at bottom of settings, scroll up and select install survival mode.
If your phone came with 4.1x I would not update it until you root and unlock bootloader. If you have 4.3+ or took that update Nevermind just root it regardless.
Another option is cf auto root if towelroot fails.
http://autoroot.chainfire.eu
Should towelroot then cf aroot do not work search the dev thread for root guide. Will seem complicated at first, but really is not.
