[Q] what chinese tablet to go for summer 2014 ? - General Questions and Answers

I am really confused about the chineese tablets, and having a hard time to decide what to go for.
Theres this cool, but expensive Ramos i10 pro with dual boot. But dont know if i would ever use windows 8.1 on a tablet unless there is some special gaming experience i dont know about, in terms of game titles not seen on android.
Cube talk 9x is nice and was almost decided to go for this one.
Chuwi v99i very similar to cube talk 9x but with intel inside.
And the Teclast x98 3g also with intel.
What i need is a family tablet, that would be mainly used for browsing, gaming, movies (mostly streamed), cartoon reading, gps and 3g, and around 10 inch with great screen. Now i am certain all of the above can do this, but im getting that naggy thing that i want the best possible in the price range of the cube talk 9x. But i also find the Ramos i10 pro interesting with its dual boot system.
As i think they all can serve my purposes, maybe i should let it all come down to the screen and reasonably fair sound ?
Hope some one in here got some inputs they would like to share, and help me and others out.
I am not in to rooting, as i only done it once with a pipo s1 a couple of years ago. And i am not even sure if it would benefit my tablet needs at all, but all things can change over time .

Herotab C8 Information & Development

So I got one of the variations of this rather generic Chinese tablet and am very interested to get development on it going. Some folks over at Slatedroid (currently down for upgrades) started messing around with this tablet.
So far we have root via the normal su/superuser.apk method. There seems to be no NAND lock of any kind or no bootloader mischief going on, Either. The CPU is the same used in the Galaxy S and Tab from what I understand.
Some brave soul (username Asure on Slatedroid) also found an older kernel source for it, as well as source for some of the drivers. We've seen a couple of firmware updates going so far in the last two months or so.
These are the general tech specs for this device, and its similarly named and equipped friends (Dropad A8, Haipad M7, etc):
Dimensions: 196.5*125*14.5mm
Weight: 0.510g
LCD: Capacitive Multi-touch 2-point 7" @ 800x480
CPU: Samsung S5PV210 (ARM v7 Cortex A8) @ 1.0GHz
RAM: 512MB DDR2 RAM
Wifi: 802.11 b/g/n support
NAND: 2/4GB NAND Flash (On most models, some have no NAND or as little as 256MB)
Camera: Front Camera, 1.3MP
Battery: Dual 2250mAh batteries (also seems to change per device 'brand')
Others: USB2.0 support both normal and host mode, HDMI 1.3 output
Runs a rather generic Froyo on it. Ask me for any more info, I hope we can get more support for this going. I'd probably be willing to donate a bit to get interested (and experienced) developers going.
Is there a different thread going on about this device? Search didn't show anything.
Haven't found anything similar in XDA about it or the variants.
I'm thinking of getting it, too. Was hoping I can find more support for this device in here. Gingerbread, plausible?
This device is pretty good, but no xda support yet.
This device is basically a Galaxy Tab Wifi 4GB, as the hardware is the same.
I did a CM7 port for it. See SD for more details, XDA topic is dead
Can't believe there are no more people on XDA who have a Dropad / Haipad / Herotab. Good hardware en cheap! I hope there is a dev who can make a custom recovery for this tablet, that would make it next to perfect!
better buy a branded tablet
That herotab c8 is my second tablet that I bought it from aliexpress, yeah i know it is a lousy place but the price was much cheaper than merimobiles.
I sold back the first cheap tablet which is bloody slow and specs are very low which is under $100.
The second tablet that i bought was C8/herotab/whatever they call it. (yeah I made a mistake twice.)
Before I bought this, I read a bunch of reviews by c8 owners on youtube, including some videos posted on merimobiles. And I convinced myself that 1GHz cpu powered tablet would be great. yeah I was partially right.
Running applications + watching videos are simply awesome. avi, mkv, 1080 play flawlessly, I watch only 720p because of the file size, so watching movie on it was awesome.
cons
Unresponsive compare to Galaxy tab(i think you are going to talk about the price tag)
Compare to the crowd working on branded phone/tablet, Very few people are working on the customised rom.
And bloody heavy, yeah as a tablet half a Kg is pretty heavy.
What else.
I even planned to sell it back but now my daughter plays angry bird, watches nursery rhymes videos on it. So I leave it with her.
The worst thing is no developers at xda are interested to work on it
yes. very good machine. I just know it is generic one with many other name like Haipad M7, Dropad a8, Apad 7009. all of them have an issue in common:
either skype or fring does work on them. I am keen to know if someone has video call working on it. thanks for your input
i managed to initiate a qik videocall via wifi but it took me many calls to get a connection that didnt broke after a vew seconds.
i have installed asure's cm7 beta 0.4 + launcher pro plus with honeycomb theme and layout. works great in everyday use. after deleting the unnecessary phone related apk's the battery lasts for at least a whole at heavy use and up to 2.5 days with much standby time. im loving it. it's not perfect but it's more than you'd expect from such a lowprice device.
Hey if you want ROMS and firmware updates for this device, I think this is THE page you need

[Q] Which of these 3 tablets to buy?

I was wondering whether to post in Off-topic or here, despite this board saying phones, and while tablets are not phones, I decided here due to lack of a proper decision.
There are 3 tablets that I have currently eyed:
Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0(used;not sure if available)
Prestigio Multipad Quantum 7.85
Onda V711s
Now, out of all the three the Onda V711s wins by pure raw power, has a quad core CPU and a Power VR SGX544 MP4 GPU and a 7inch IPS display, however as you can already guess it's a chinese tablet. As for the Samsung one, I have an SGS2 smartphone, I've grown tired of the TouchWiz interface, the generic Samsung look and I am deeply afraid the tablet will suffer from lag which I experience on my SGS2 daily and has a dual-core CPU.
Still, I at least know the Samsung tablet is a known brand, uses common hardware and has a forum dedicated with it with many kernels/ROMs I presume, whereas the Onda v711s doesn't seem to have it's own dedicated thread(or any information regarding it on here). Also, the Onda from what I could understand in a Russian review(again, maybe I heard it wrong) has bad Wi-Fi reception and drops out.
The Prestigio tablet has a bigger screen, is slower than the Onda, anything else I am not sure.
Advice?

I want a tablet

HI all, how's everyone? not been back for some time,
I need some help from you guys if possible.
I want a tablet, my partner has an ipad mini, I like it, long battery life, clear and cool to the touch, (ie don't get too warm on long usage)
Can anyone recommend me something?
I have made my own (very brief short list)
Lenovo Yoga
Xiaomi Mipad,
Pipo P8
Fire 7.7
My criteria is this,
7.9-8.9 inch screen
4:3 format.
stable Os,
ideally full android, so not sure if the fire can be rooted.
quad core, and can hold its own when running any intense apps.
won't get too hot when on long usage.
long battery life,
if possible 2Gb ram,
if no MMC expansion then need at least 32Gb
no more than £200, and as per my list, will look into oversea models
I do like the nexus 9, but out of my budget any other suggestions.

Mipad best bang for buck, infact, the price and the specs you get are bloody brilliant! Really really great value, I don't know how Xiaomi get away with it
Its about £230 (some places £180 but + import tax could be more, I say use EBay because you have buyer protection etc) I'm looking into buying the Mipad myself, (I currently have an LG G Pad, heavily mod'd)
The only downside (which is to be expected) is the OS on the Mipad MIUI (on Xiaomi phones Mi2 Mi3 Mi4 its great, but on thus Mipad its half finished, buggy etc.)
But hey I enjoy a challenge

Lenovo Yoga 8 is very good. Quad-Core, Android 4.2 Operating System, Battery Life – Up to 18 Hours, but if you want to play games with a higher experience, I would recommend you another game tablet (JXD S7800B), 7.0 inches, quad core.

I actually would recommend you the iPad Mini 3, because it's almost matching all your requirements except that it is iOS.
Apple will really ensure that you're requirements will be finished.!

Did you choose your tablet ?
I am interested because I also want an 8" tablet to use mainly as an ebook reader ...
Noticed that dealsprime has a "youtube promo" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfZ28bH8bXE : free pouch) on the pipo p8 and that there is apparently good rom support for it on http://www.freaktab.com/forumdisplay.php?166-Current-Pipo-ROMs ...

For an EBook type of device I would suggest the Tesco Hudl 2
I know what your thinking.... No way dude!!
But I was surprised at how good this piece of kit is for like £120.
Quad core, Intel, full HD, the casing around the tablet isn't pretty but its great specs for the price.

Not all quad core is good.this machine uses MTK8382 which is a very slow quad core machine.
And It's pretty Energy Hungry,It only could go on up to 10-12Hr.
Also RK3188?No please.A Allwinner A31 could win the RK3188...
2,I would not like to suggest the lenovo one is the warranty service. If your machine have something and you take it to the service centre, the day it fixed you will get "another machine".
^What i mean,A more worse machine.
Asus HD8 is a good choice for you:
- Cheap
- Long batery

No help? Really :crying:

Lenovo M9 or Nokia t10 or amazon 8hd plus (2022)

Hi everyone, this would be my first post so sorry for any inconvenience.
I'm thinking of upgrading my tablet but I've always liked small tablets under 10' unfortunately, as we all know they are hardware-adjusted, after searching and reading some reviews out there I've settled on these three that fit my needs. needs, basic tasks, reading reports and basic tasks; I don't play games, I don't multitask demanding I don't edit videos....
Nokia t10 vs lenovo m9; They are similar in everything, they have their advantages, for example, the update of 2 OS by Nokia makes it more attractive to me, but I see its model as very wide and its processor lower performance (t606). I also don't know if the option of the Google's entertainment center usually freezes or the dual screen option is the same (hopefully it's already fixed). On the other hand, the new lenovo M9 also has the update of an OS that also comes in handy, it has a more powerful processor than nokia but it has a smaller graphics engine, in terms of software it is seen that it is going very well and in the reviews that I have read it has not presented problems beyond hardware limitations.
Amazon fiere 8 HD plus: I don't know much about this tablet and I don't know how it is XD
