I've tried to change from Dalvik to ART and I softbricked my I9003. After that, I've used Odin and I flash again NamelessROM. Everything work, with the except of ART. When I try to use it, my phone reboots and it remain in the bootanimation.
Is a ROM's bug or I do something wrong?
Sorry for my bad english.
I dont understand what you are trying to do...
What do you want to do with dalvik cache?
And what is Art?
Boot Animation Issues:
- Remove battery and try again.
If it doesnt work for you try the next.
- Reflash Boot; (or System)
If it doesnt work for you try the next.
- Enter CWM Clear "Caches"
If it doesnt work for you start again or change your ROM.

ART is the newer runtime implemented by google since kk, it replace the virtual machine dalvick and give us more performance and battery life but is in beta stage yet.

For the dalvik cache, use something like root explorer, and then go to data>>Dalvik cache.
Open the folder and delete everything in it.
Reboot you phone immediately, wait about 10 mins before you mess with your phone.
To clear your cache you can do it manually by going to settings>>applications>>manage applications.
You then select the applications one by one, and clear their cache.
Or, i haven't tried it myself, but CacheMate for Root Users seems to have a good rating on the market.
Hey. Everytime when I install CM10.1 by Xistance on i9001 and try to reboot my phone it lags on the bootscreen (or what it called).
I tried to format system (before installition) and fix permissions etc. but still it doesn't work. I tried that i don't install gapps (because Xistance said that if you install gapps it will lag more) but that didn't work either. This is so cool rom and i want it Could someone help me please ? ps. Sorry about my bad English
Did you wipe?
Yes data and cache. Just like in the Xistances instructions. I tried also wipe dalvik too .

Did you use one of the recommended recovery's?
Tried onother one?
Well not 10.1. I'm still using CM10 by ivendor
After successfully loading CM10 by ivendor I noticed two problems. I can't silence the phone when its ringing. Any idea how to help me with this?
My other problem is that when I answer a call the phone always looks for an internet connection and randomly switches on wifi/3g/2g. I have no idea how to disable this even though I manually switch off data network and wifi.
Hey guys. I was running cm on my nexus 5 and I wanted to switch to art but when I switch to art in the setting after the reboot a massage always poped up saying one of the Google application or something crashed . so I got back to the stock ROM and I tried to change to art but after the reboot it stayed on dalvik . so I did a complete wipe and reinstalled the stock rom and I could switch to art and it worked . I tried to restore all my apps with helium but it kept stopping saying there was a problem . so I changed back to dalvik and I tried to restore again but the same thing happened . so I tried a few time later and a after I restored app after app it finally finished so I tried to switch to art again but the same thing happened (it stayed on dalvik) did it happen to anyone else ? And how can I solve this problem ?

Are you using any Xposed modules, that'll stop the system switching to ART.

Tried to switch from dalvik to ART but on reboot it doesn't seem to stick. I go back into dev options and it still says dalvik. I'm on the original soak test, which shouldn't matter, but I'm curious if anyway else switch to ART and got it to stick. Thanks.
I've heard that happens if you're using xposed

I'll have to see if that works. Any idea if I can uninstall xposed switch to ART then reinstall xposed or do I have to choose to keep one or the other?
Should be able to. Don't mess with your modules, just install the framework in the app itself, reboot, and try it then.

Xposed doesn't work with ART (yet). The Xposed developer purposely has your runtime switch back to Dalvik upon reboot to keep you from going into a bootloop with ART.

Okay, thanks.
I have this same problem. I uninstalled Xposed, but it still switches back to Dalvik. Is there another app that can automatically switch to Dalvik, or did Xposed leave something behind?
EDIT: Nevermind, figured it out. It does leave stuff behind, it came to me that I had to hit an INSTALL button to install the framework, so i had to reinstall Xposed and hit an Uninstall button to uninstall the framework.
After i've changed runtime to ART every start up of phone is accompanied by error message: Google Play services has stopped.
I've wiped Play data but it didn't help.
Any ideas how to solve this issue?

This is a known issue with google play services. There is an update in the works, and an APK is floating around that will resolve this, although the error only occurs on boot, and does not cause any negative effects beyond the single error message.

I've seen already 2 or 3 updates for Google Services, but my is still the same. May be this error occurs when it can't be updated?
I'm rooted, stock rom, stock recovery and my knox counter is 0x0.
I've enabled developer options and changed my runtime it to ART, it reboots and I go check it still says Dalvik, I don't know what I'm doing wrong... Any suggestions?

This doesn't quite answer your question but should read through this thread if you have not: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2713879
Seems others are having the same issue as you. Since ART is still experimental on the S5 it causes screen wake up issues, boot issues, some apps to not work, and Samsung has said to use with caution because TW framework is not fully compatible yet.
Do you all think if I were to backup everything and : 1)factory reset 2)switch to art and then 3)root
Would that work?

Problem solved.. Here is what I did for future reference
1)Odined back to stock, then took it the otas to get to stock uprooted NE5
2)Switched to ART, no issue rebooted and was running art
3)Titanium backup was not working for me without being suuuper laggy, so I started to manually install all of my apps
4)Rooted my phone using towel
5)Realized that Xposed forces dalvik, and once the framework was installed it would revert to dalvik... Uninstalled framework and removed xposed
5)turned ART back on and have had no issue.... It definitely was due to xposed because that is the only app that I Uninstalled and have had no issues since

I don't have Xposed installed either, and still can't turn ART on. When the reboot finishes and I go to the Configuration, it says that DALVIK still on. Any solution?

I think, for whatever reason, ART is disabled in TouchWiz.
