Hey Xda Members,
This Is A detailed Tutorial On How To Root Your HTC Pico. I Know There Is A Tutorial By Jaggyjaggs But Many of Pico Users find it difficult to root there htc pico by this tutorial . So I am Trying to make things easy for Newbies
Rooting Your HTC Pico Requires Three Steps:
1. Unlocking The Bootloader
2. Flashing A Custom Recovery.
3. Installing Superuser App(Getting Root Previllage)
Now You MUst Know Certain Things Before Rooting Your Device:
WHAT IS A BOOTLOADER?
The bootloader performs basic hardware initialization, verifies the integrity of the operating system, starts the operating system, and provides a method to update device software. This validation is important to verify that the software loaded on the device will not damage sensitive components (radios, processors, etc.) or violate regulatory or carrier requirements. Google provides a base bootloader as part of the Android operating system, and most device manufacturers optimize this for their specific devices.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO UNLOCK THE BOOTLOADER?
Unlocking the bootloader is the first step towards gaining root privileges. Some developers and enthusiasts unlock and root in order to experiment with applications or with custom builds of Android. Needless to say, you should not attempt to unlock the bootloader unless you know what you are doing.

Rooting is when the user has gained root or administrative privileges on the device. In general, this gives users access to make modifications that would not normally be possible. With such privileges comes both risk and additional capability-best left to the very technically savvy. In Order To Root Your Pico You Must Unlock The Bootloader.

Now You Must Register Yourself With A Working Mail ID,Because They Are Going To Send You an Email with Unlock_code, with Which You Will Unlock Your Bootloader .
After Registering Yourself login as a user And Goto This Link http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader/
Select All Other supported Models In The Devices List As Shown Below
And Select Begin Unlock Bootloader
Then There Will be some conditions pop-up and you will have to accept them
Dont Forget To Say Yes To The Most Important one that you will lose your warranty
Now Before You Begin Unlocking Your Bootloader You Must Have These Required Resources :
1. Google Android SDK Zip : http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
2. Java Runtime Environment:
JRE 32-Bit: http://filehippo.com/download_jre_32/
JRE 64-Bit: http://filehippo.com/download_jre_64/

After Installing The Required Components Follow The Steps Below
Follow The Steps Written In The Image They Are Pretty much easy to understand
After Doing The First Four Steps You Will Now Skip The Three Steps On The Next Page And Goto Step 8
Now You Will Navigate To Diectory As Shown In The Image Below:
Now Hold Shift+Mouse Right Click And Select Open command Window Here.
Now Type This In The Cmd:

Now As You Submit Your Token You Will Get A email With A link To Follow The Instructions and An Attached File Unlock_Code.txt. Download The Unlock Code And Paste It In THe Directory As Shown Below:
Now Head Over To The Next Step Flashing A Recovery

Flashing A Recovery
Now Navigate To This Directory:
Now Execute The Following Command in CmdOpen Cmd With Shift+Right Click)

Now You Will See The Following Screen On Your Mobile:
Select Yes Using The Volume Keys
Now,
On Selecting Yes Your Phone Will Reboot
Pull The Battery And Reboot Into Bootloader By Pressing the Power button+Volume Down.
Select Fastboot And Make Sure Your Device Is Connected To Pc. It Should Show Fastboot USB
Flashing A Recovery:
We Have Three Recoveries Working on Pico:

Download The Recovery You Want And Rename it to recovery.img.
Copy-Paste It In The Directory Given Below:
Now Open The Cmd In This Directory And Type The Following Code :
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

Your Device Will Boot Into Bootloader.
Now Select Recovery And Your Device Will Boot Into Recovery
Now Select Reboot(System) In Recovery As We Now Need To Copy Some Files To Root Your Device

Installing Superuser App
Now You Have To Root Your Device:
Download This File:http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=832400&d=1325076959
Copy This File In Your Sdcard.
Reboot Into Recovery And Goto Install. Browse To The File You Pasted In Your Sdcard(Superuser.zip)
Swipe to confirm flashing the file. Then, “Reboot system”.
Now You Have Succesfully Rooted Your Phone

My phone's screenguard is still chipped above the HTC logo Gotta change that.

The HTC Drivers for the phone are installed along with HTC Sync, So,... it is recommended that you install it first. :cyclops:

Just want to make sure some things before I root my htc_pico:
1) I am having windows8 64bit OS on pc, is it going to be any problem (driver issue or anything)? 'cause i think htc did not update sync for explorer for win8, because i cant run internet-passthrough through my pc (Yet I managed using virtual OS(Vmware ) )
2) Is it really necessary to download and install "Google Android SDK Zip"?
3) While giving commands in cmd prompt, What should be the connection type when I connect my phone to PC? (Charge only,or HtcSync) ?

The superuser.zip in jaggyjags tutorial is... for older recoveries...

I tried downloading SDK for the 7th time, it will show that it has downloaded 480/480 MB, then the clock counts down with all the excitement then, BOOOM!! Network Error. I don't know what is going on. Why does it keeps on failing. Not only in one of my PC's, but all of them (1 desktop, 2 laptops).

In the last step of rooting ,while installing superuser.zip ,the screen showed failed .and i used an rootchecker to find i was successful and ,i wasn't. Don't know what went wrong ,please do comment on this

I hope you have unlocked your bootloader successfully..
Now comes the installation of recovery.. I think you have installed it successfully..
No what you have to do is reboot your phone to recovery..
Now from install zip select the superuser zip and flash..

Procedure:
1. Download MTK Droid Tool and Drivers From Above
2. Install All Drivers Present in Three Folders
3. Connect Your Device With Computer Through USB Cable And Turn ON USB Debugging
4. From your computer, open MTK Droid Tools that you have downloaded above and extract it to your desired location.
5. Open MTK Droid Tools.exe from the extracted folder (Run as administrator). Wait for the tool to detect your device.
6. Click ROOT button to enable your device. Wait for the progress bar on the Status, see your phone to Grant Superuser access. If the color indicator turns GREEN, then you have successfully enabled root shell for your device.

Just for the record :
I was not able to connect the device to the tool even though all the drivers were installed and everything. So what I did was, I opened iRoot and let it connect to the device and waited till the (device is rooted screen) appeared. Then I re-opened the MTKDroid software and it worked afterwards.
Yes, I took full backup and it is working. Haven't tried to restore it but atleast it takes full backup and looks legitimate :good:

so, got my new honor holly yesterday and couldn't wait any longer. rooted, installed cwm and performing my first backup at this very moment. i do hope i will be able to boot afterwards. thumbs up...it is looking promising. has anyone tried restore a cwm backup yet?
by the way, i think our beloved holly molly should get a own forum.

I gave the root permission for mtk droid tools on my mobile. When I open SuperSU in my honor holly it shows that adb has been granted supersu permission. But still the mtk tool is showing the same error again and again . I have tried it many times. I have micromax doodle 3, it works fine there but is showing this error in honor holly.
Bro I would also like to ask one more question. My phone gets heated up near the camera at the back when I play games and watch videos. Is there any solution for it. Please do reply. Thanks in advance.

Hi mates,I am posting this tutorial because there is no Step by Step Tutorial to Root ASUS ZenFone 5 T00F/T00J running Lollipop and a lot of people are finding it difficult to Root their devices.So here we go.
All credit goes to shakalaca for providing the Root Kit.
Before You Begin :
I won’t be liable if any damage occurs to your device during the process.Proceed at your own risk.
This root method is tested by me on ZenFone 5 T00F/T00J (WW SKU ).Make sure your Build number is WW 3.23.40.52 / 3.23.40.60 / 3.24.40.78 / 3.24.40.87 before proceeding (Go to Settings > About phone > Software information > Build number ).Don’t try on any other ZenFone 5 with different Model/SKU.I can’t vouch for other ZenFones/SKU Versions.
Rooting your phone will void the manufacturer's warranty (You can Unroot anyway).
Backup all the important stuff.In case your device is wiped off .Backup your data to PC.You can use Titanium Backup (Root) / Helium to backup your apps and data.
The battery of the phone should be at least 80% charged.
Requirements :
ASUS Android USB Driver - Download Link
ADB Installer v1.4.2 (Credit goes to Snoop05 ) - Download Link
ZF5_LP_RootKit - Download Link 1 / Download Link 2
USB Data Cable
PC
Instructions :
Step 1: Download Zip file (ZF5_LP_RootKit )
Step 2: Extract the root package on your PC using 7-Zip/WinZip
Step 3: Enable USB debugging on your phone [ Go to Settings >About phone> Software information >Build number.Now tap on Build Number 7 times,it will enable “Developer options” in Settings.Again,go back to Settings > Developer options > Enable the USB debugging (by checking the box against “USB debugging” ) ]
Step 4: Install USB drivers (if you haven't installed ) in your PC ( Check the installed Programs list : Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features )
Step 5: Run ADB Installer v1.4.2 to install ADB drivers and setup ADB on the PC.
Step 6: Connect your phone to the PC using a USB Cable.You will get a pop-up saying “Allow USB debugging” on the phone.Tick the check box that says “ Always allow for this computer” and press OK
Step 7: With the phone connected to the PC, run the “ Root “ (Windows batch file ) file by double click on it.Linux and Mac users should run “Root.sh” file.
Step 8: In your PC,a notification will appear in Command Prompt (cmd),asking you to “Press any key to continue… ”. Press any key on the keyboard. The Root process will start your phone will now reboot into fastboot mode automatically and then start flashing the root files.Don’t interrupt the process,let it complete.
Step 9: Once the process is completed,the phone will reboot automatically.Once the rooting process is finished ,in cmd it will ask you “Press any key to continue… ”.Press any key on the keyboard and disconnect the USB Cable.
Step 10: Once your phone is Rebooted.Check if there is any “SuperSU” app installed in the phone,if it’s installed,the process is successful.
Congratulations!!!You have got the Root access. :good:
You can verify the root access on your device using apps like Root Check or Root Checker.
Don’t forget to unroot your device before applying any OTA.To unroot your device,run UnRoot (Windows Batch File) by double clicking it OR in SuperSU settings click “Full unroot”.
Tested by me on ASUS ZenFone 5 A501CG [Lollipop 5.0] [ASUS_T00J_WW_user_3.23.40.60 and 3.24.40.78 ]

In my opinion when @optimusodd has wrote ZF5_LP_RootKit he had in mind ZenFoneRootKit_20150528.zip or something similar, you can find those files here.
It's work on my wife phone ASUS T00J WW 3.23.40.60

My device model is ww3.24.40.78 it works at this rootkit ?

I am wondering why it didn't work for you.This method has been reported working for WW_3.24.40.78 and I have tested it myself.
Did you verify the root access on your device using any Root Checker app ?

The root is not in place, I'll try it again using a win7 pc and factory reset as well, since all my tries were done with win10.

Hello,sorry for the delayed response.I have been a bit busy.Yeah,it should work for v3.24.40.87 firmware as well as it's just a bug fixing firmware which was released to fix the issues presented in Firmware 3.24.40.78
Personally,I am still on 3.24.40.78 as there are still a lot of bugs in 3.24.40.87 and some users are reporting it even worse than 3.24.40.78.So just waiting for the more stable release.:fingers-crossed:

Huawei Enjoy 5 (TIT-AL00) - Install Google Play store guide

This is to show you how to get Google Play on the Huawei Enjoy 5, which standard Chinese Stock ROM does not have Play store enabled.
Note: when unlocking the phone and installing custom recovery, it might mean that the OTA updates don't work anymore.
Since we have not yet had an update since I installed this, I could not check, but this is what is said in the Huawei unlock site...
Credits: my sincere thanks to andrik22, who guided me through the whole process...
Prerequisites:
Huawei Enjoy 5 phone (TIT-AL00)
Huawei Unlock tool (attached)
ADB drivers (attached)
ADB / Fastboot software (attached)
CWM Recovery file (attached)
GAPPS Pico for ARM64, Android 5.1 --> Download from Opengapps.org
Steps to complete:
1. Install ADB Drivers
2. Unzip ADB software in C:\adb
3. Unzip CWM_Recovery.img in C:\adb
4. Copy the GAPPS file into C:\adb
C:\adb should look like this now:

Settings -->about phone --> Status--> IMEI 1 + Serial Number
6. Connect phone by USB to computer
7. Enable USB debugging on phone --> slide down the notification area and touch "USB connection options", then on the bottom of the screen enable "USB Debugging"
7a. Copy the GAPPS file from C:\adb to the root of the external SD card on your phone
8. Unzip and open the Unlock tool (you might need to disable the virus checker, as this will be flagged and deleted, at least this was the case with me) --> fill in IMEI 1, get Product ID, write that down.
9. Go to the Huawei site to get your unlock code (log in with Facebook, or Huawei ID, fill in the required information product type = Smartphone, product ID = TIT-AL00, serial number from the phone, IMEI code, Product ID). Your unlock code will be below in Red)
10. Startup command prompt (Windows key + R, type cmd, enter)
11. In command prompt, type "cd \adb" to get to the adb directory
12. In command prompt check if device is recognized (typing "adb devices" in the command prompt should show you this)
13. Now reboot the phone into fastboot by typing "adb reboot bootloader"
14. This should reboot the phone into fastboot mode (black screen, only showing "fastboot>" on the bottom
15. In the command prompt, type "fastboot devices" to see if the device is recognized.
Your screen should look something like this:
The next command will unlock your phone AND make a hard reset... if any data or settings would need to be preserved, please make a backup!
16. Now type in the command prompt:"fastboot oem unlock XXXXX" where XXXX is the unlock code you got from the website
17. Then type in command prompt: "fastboot reboot". After this, your phone will reboot and reset.
18. When Phone is rebooted, make sure USB debugging is on again (same as point 7)
19. Now reboot the phone into fastboot by typing "adb reboot bootloader"
20. This should reboot the phone into fastboot mode (black screen, only showing "fastboot>" on the bottom
21. In the command prompt, type "fastboot devices" to see if the device is recognized.
22. Now we are going to flash CWM Recovery: type in command prompt: "fastboot flash recovery CWM_recovery.img"
23. reboot into recovery by typeing into command prompt: " "fastboot reboot" while holding VOL+ on the phone.
24. When the options screen on the phone appears, press VOL- to select the recovery mode. This will boot into CWM recovery.
25. In CWM recovery, select "install ZIP" and select "From Memory card" and select the Open Gapps file we have copied there in step 7a.
26 When flashing is done, type into the command prompt: "adb reboot" to reboot the phone.
This should reboot the phone. first 5 minutes it might be very slow as it is optimizing (Google) apps, but then Google Play store should be working on your phone!

Attention!
When installing SuperSU you can NOT get ROOT!!!
You will receive a cyclic reboot. And for the restoration of the phone need flash original recovery, and then install the firmware version B128 from the official site (update.zip).

Firmware from the official site installed only from original recovery, so if you have installed CWM recovery, you must first restore the original as it is written above, and already from it to make a clean install.

One more gotcha: the Huawei Unlocker.exe didn't work for me when executed directly from the .zip file, even though it's only one file so I expected that to work... Perhaps it self-extracts... Anyway, you need to unpack the .zip file first and then execute the unlocker .exe

Found the problem. and finnaly it works.
The first time of the CWM installation failed. ( but adb told me OK).
so I just flash CWM again to solve the problem.

Manufacturer again changed the method of obtaining the unlock code.
You need to go to the phone account Huawei. For example, Huawei club, HiApp or Huawei Cloud+.
The report said that you did not go to these applications for more than 14 days.

Unfortunately, there is only a version of the installation software VPN, included in the service with Huawei phone with the expectation of 14 days.
I have not tested it should work in theory.
Perhaps you can write in support of Huawei in your country - that they may request an unlock code from colleagues in China.

Even if it will be able to get root, too, need to unlock the bootloader on it.
You have tried to write an e-mail?
Send an email to [email protected] Email them the following. They usually email you back and tell you to do go online to unlock your bootloader and it should work on the website, or never email you back:

3. Backup all your data, Apps, Contacts & everything you need.
4. Charge ur device above 60% to avoid any shutdown during the process
UNLOCKING BOOTLOADER
Unlock Bootloader: Opens the door to System files of your device. This allows you to flash images onto the main system partitions of the phone, after unlocking you will lose the DRM keys and phone's warranty will be void, it will also factory reset your device.(backup is recommended)
1. Open Dialer.
2. Dial *#*#7378423#*#*
3. Press service info than configuration.
4. Check if “Bootloader Unlock” is yes under Rooting status.[If not then your device can not be unlocked]
5. Check what android you are running on. Go to Settings -> About Phone -> Android Version. If you have 6.x.x then goto step 9 but if you have 7.x.x then you have to downgrade to Marshmallow.
6. Download and install FlashTool from its official website.
7. Install the drivers for fastmode and for your device in the driver folder of the FlashTool. [C:>FLASHTOOL>drivers]
8. Download ftf for your device using XpiriFirm and flash it using flashtool.
How to flash ftf?

6. Unplug and reboot your device

Now the final step. To root your device you just need to flash the Magisk zip.

5. Now select install and navigate to the pasted zip, swipe for flash.

2. Paste it in your Fastboot directory and rename it as recovery.img
Because it Is Necessary Guys Without Renaming It , It Would Be Difficult to Enter in TWRP Recovery.
Rename To "recovery.img" is Must to Replace The Stock With This One.
and To Enter TWRP MENU After Everything Done.-----> Follow The Steps. <------
1 - Completely Power OFF The Phone , ( You Can Also Power off the Phone Anytime By Holding VOLUME UP + POWER BUTTON For 5 Secs Until There is 3 Vibration. )
2 - Hold Volume Down + Power Button , After That SONY Logo is Shown , Then Release ONLY THE POWER KEY and KEEP HOLDING the VOLUME DOWN Button.
3 - Wait Till TWRP Appears and Start Doing What You Like.

Good Tutorial As Iam Quite Familiar With This Rooting Method I Would Like To Highlight a Line
2. Paste it in your Fastboot directory and rename it as recovery.img
Because it Is Necessary Guys Without Renaming It , It Would Be Difficult to Enter in TWRP Recovery.
Rename To "recovery.img" is Must to Replace The Stock With This One.
and To Enter TWRP MENU After Everything Done.-----> Follow The Steps. <------
1 - Completely Power OFF The Phone , ( You Can Also Power off the Phone Anytime By Holding VOLUME UP + POWER BUTTON For 5 Secs Until There is 3 Vibration. )
2 - Hold Volume Down + Power Button , After That SONY Logo is Shown , Then Release ONLY THE POWER KEY and KEEP HOLDING the VOLUME DOWN Button.
3 - Wait Till TWRP Appears and Start Doing What You Like.

Hmm.. Not really, if he wishes to save and back up his DRM keys then yes it is nessecary to downgrade but if he's not worried about them he can do everything from oreo, unlocking the BL, installing a Kernel, TWRP ect.... But let me be clear to save your DRM Keys you need to downgrade..
