Does anyone know if it's possible to route audio to two bluetooth speakers at the same time, preferably in Android or IOS devices?
I know in the past bandwidth was a big issue, but I'm sure bluetooth 4.0 would be able to handle two audio streams.

Couldn't find this anywhere?
I have not seen anything in the specs stating that it is supported...does anyone know for sure?
It streams music just fine for me to my car and my bluetooth headphones.
Yes, it does. I think all Android phones have this capability. I know my G1 did too. I use it every day with my Nexus S.
1st) Yes. The Nexus S does support A2DP. I already used it.
2nd) No. It is not guarenteed to work with every android phone as the bluetooth chip must support the A2DP profile.

should also be mentioned, not every BT stereo headset or car audio, or any other sort of BT player are A2DP capable, some have limited or no functions at all
i've encountered a few bad devices that simply stream the audio, but it wont provide any remote control feature at all
so good luck

Agree with AllGamer, I use a Sennheiser headset which does voice calls pretty well, but it can't do any other voice transmissions if it is through skype, gtalk etc or any music/podcast content. And, the box also doesn't specify A2DP support.
On the other side, I have a BlueAnt headset which does all types of calls on my nexus or atrix pretty well, with all types I mentioned above.
Good Luck!!!
I find that Skype uses the tablet's microphone even when a bluetooth headset is paired and audio is coming out of the headset speakers. Googling it , this seems to be a longstanding Skype bug. Has anyone found a way to get Skype to use the bluetooth headphone mic?
Thanks
Android needs to enable bluetooth mike system wide, just like in other OS.
There are other apps that can use this, not only skype.
Some of them are web based, like making calls with bobsled.

It's not an Android problem, per se. I use a Motorola stereo bluetooth headset that can be used for phone calls too with my Android phone with no problems on cell phone calls and Sipdroid (for VOIP). I would suspect Skype still has bugs with bluetooth, which is a fairly recent addition to their Android software. OP, the Skype forums might be your best avenue for help. There are numerous users in the Skype forum reporting problems with bluetooth using Skype.

What I am trying to say is that, just like when you plug in the wired headset the sound is rerouted to the headset's earphones (disabling the device's speakers) and the microphone input is rerouted to the headset's mike (disabling the device's mike), the same should occur when the device pairs with a BT headset.
This is what happens when I pair my win xp pc to a BT headset. This way, the audio I/O change is system wide, and can be used by all apps.
Furthermore, additional settings in the device's settings screen could allow the user more control, like simultaneous use of the device's speakers and the BT earphone, (say you want to let a person next to you listen in to your conversation).
P.S. I wonder what the right place is to submit this to Android development...
Apologies if there is a thread but I spend a long time trying to find one, with a solution.
The streaming of audio over bluetooth has distortion in the high frequencies.
Playing over USB sound is perfect, but not over bluetooth. Is there any hardware or software mod to fix this?
still the same problem with RK3188 and the PX5.
No solution at the moment
I have the same issue with phone connection quality...just thinking about returning device cause without handsfree feature this Is unless!
Is it possible to stream Bluetooth audio to 2 devices simultaneously like you can on the galaxy s8 for example?
Think easily playing music to 2 rooms for parties etc.
Phone is rooted and happy to hack if there's a solution!
I don't think so. I cast to a Home Group to play music in different rooms and it works very well. I believe audio can only be piped to one device via BT though. Range would be a limiting factor in an area large enough to need two speakers, too.
Hello,
Does anyone if it is possible on the Pixel 3a to output audio from different apps to different audio devices? Apparently Samsung has this feature (Separate Audio) but I can't find anything analogous to that for the Pixel. Specifically I would like to route an audio book (Libby) to wired or Bluetooth head phones and Spotify to Android Auto or Car Bluetooth.
Thanks!
