[Q] Stock e-mail app suddenly not working - Droid Ultra Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all,
I setup the stock e-mail app to sync to my comcast account when I got the phone in Jan of this year. No issues until yesterday , when I received the message that I couldn't send mail because there was not enough disk space. This happened once before, so I started to delete somethings and I kept getting the message when I would try and reply to an e-mail. I kept receiving e-mails, I only couldn't send. I cleared the cache, that didn't help, then I force stopped the app. Finally I deleted all the e-mails in trash and that seemed to help. But then the app went into a sync loop where it just would sync and not let me have control. After a few reboots of the phone, things seemed to be working....
Seemed to be working is the operative phrase, now it will only very inconsistently download e-mails. it says it is syncing, but nothing downloads.
Any idea would be appreciated
Thx
Mark

Gmail Issue: Waiting For Sync

Everything was working good until a few days ago. Now the Gmail app states that is waiting for sync. Your email will appear shortly..
And it never does. Ive tried turning off and back on the auto sync and tried to manually sync but I get an error message that says
Sorry!
The process com.google.process.gapps has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
Does anyone have an idea on how I can get it up and running again? Thanks.
I'm on JF's RC33
Ok, I figured it out. I went into settings and Gmail Storage and cleared out the data. Then I went back into gmail and entered my account information again and it seems to be syncing now. Really weird, I dont know how it just stopped working. Anyway, hope this helps someone in the future.
Gmail
Dont know if you have docs to go. but when i uninstalled docs to go gmail started working again for me. Now i reinstalled docs to go and havent had any problems yet.
Reinstall any apps you've been using to send attachments (eg. Note Everything, Doodleroid etc.), clear out your gmail and gmail storage data, and it should work.
Try to avoid sending multiple attachments at once: for example if you send one and it 'stalls' and you try to send it again, it could do this to your gmail.
I also had this issue. I resolved this issue by turning sync back on. Once I enabled sync, I was able to get right into my gmail account.
Similar problem here
(Using CM 5.0.8 final on my original black G1)
I can manually sync with the server to get email, but syncing seems to happen maybe once a day for the past week or so. It used to happen so frequently that i'd see email on my phone before i'd see it in my web browser if i was at a computer.
Haven't changed anything recently... Tried rebooting the phone of course.
Can't find the tool for clearing out gmail on my phone, so i haven't tried that.
any other theories?
thanks
Edit: Turned off sync everywhere and rebooted. Got stuck in a boot loop.
Used amon ra recovery console to wipe dalvik cache
Boot loop is fixed
Refresh problem seems fixed too.
yay?

Mods, can you close threads that had no activity for a year? (close threads had no activity on the thread for a year or more.)

[Q] GMail not syncing?

Has anyone noticed that what they do within the Gmail app on the Xoom isn't syncing with your desktop machine?
In other words - when I read or delete or change labels on an email in the Gmail app, I don't see the changes reflected if I go to my Gmail on my laptop. (They are still sitting in my inbox, unread).
Go into settings/applications /manage applications/all applications. Open Gmail and "clear cache ", them "clear data "
Ignore the warnings. Back to home page and open Gmail. You should be good to go.
That worked!
Thanks!
Sync hangs
I'm not sure if this is the exact same problem but I tried to send some large attachments recently and the sync seemed to hang all night. It would not send the email I originally was going to send plus three other I did afterwards before I noticed the issue. I was more concerned with sending these emails then checking to see if the sync error was affecting the receive mail process. Rebooting did not help so I ended up deleting the account and adding it back again. It took a while to do the normal initial syn but it seemed to clear the problem.
A week later I had the same issue although this time I noticed right away (instead of the next morning like before). I did a search and found someone advising to go into the Androids Setting then manage apps and then Gmail. To hit clear data and click
ck OK to the warning that tells you that all data, including any mail, will be deleted. I was not worried about the outgoing mail I was trying to send as I could easily redo it. This did work Ase I went into Gmail and it had to sync up withe servers but everything was back. The weird thing is that my message was sent and no longer under Outbox marked as "being sent". So either it sent it this time but was not showing this or it sent it real quick before I cleared data.
Either way it's fixed for now but who knows if it will happen again soon.We shall see.

email 2.3.4 pop email sync stops

I really need some input and if anyone knows what could be the cause of the issue I am having with my sync email just stops syncing.
I have had this problem in cm7 all nightly builds up to #55 and just stayed with rc1. After 8 plus hours the pop emails just stops syncing. Restarting the app does not help. Airplane mode did no good. A reboot is the only thing that fixes it and emails flood every time after a reboot.
At one point it got fixed and had over 160 hours of up time with emails syncing fine. I deleted internal and external. Cleared data, cache, and dalvk at least six times. Fixed permissions after Tom flash. Installed the March Google's signed apps. When I did that was the only time email syncs worked.
I touched the build.prop file to get the Netflix app and then it just acted up again.
I really need some guidance as to why the email app just stalls. It acts like it is syncing a d top acts like its syncing but cycles forever.
Any input is appreciated. I might go to another rom but I really like cm7

Email Crashing

HI all,
Need some help. For whatever reason my stock email app started crashing today (was fine yesterday). Get the error "Unfortunately, Email has stopped" when trying to reply, forward, reply all, etc. I receive emails and can read them but can't reply or create a new email. Not aware of any updates that would have happened overnight. Running the latest updated software. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Ho'okani

email issues

for a ling time, through a variety of phones, i have used different email apps with no issues. Lately though, and i think its since updating to oreo, im getting the push notification of an email but it just wont open the body of the mail. Ive tried about 5 diferent email apps now and all are the same.
So ive gone back to the built in email app and emails are opening and showing everything fine but am i right in thinking it isnt push notifications? I cant see anyway of doing so, just to sync every 15, 30, 45 or 60 mins? Is this right?
Is there no way of getting instant push notifications of an email received using the stock huawei email app?
having major issues with email on this phone. Never had problems with any other phone and ive had many over the last 15 years.
No other email app will show the body of an email, the default email did for a while then that stopped as well. Ive uninstalled updates to the huawei mobile services, ive deleted cache and storage for the app and reset up my email. i get loads of errors at different points. Took about 15 attempts to re-set up my email as it couldnt connect to server when setting up. Then it kept telling me my password was wrong when i know it wasnt.
Eventually managed to set it up again and looked like it was working but now it wont send emails. Says something about not being logged in and gives an error code. I can only put this down to a buggy Oreo as i dont remember having issues before updating.
Anyone able to help?
