[Completed] Cant't seem to get a custom recovery to work, despite being rooted. - XDA Assist

Ok so a bit of background on the hardware I am using a y300 and have the bootloader unlocked and the phone rooted. I have done so in hopes of installing a custom rom (slim kat probably) but the custom recoveries just don't want to work on this phone! I have installed clockword and TWRP (which I have installed, in-app, by img since it refuses to download from the internet?) but yet whenever I go to recovery, even from within these apps I am in what looks like a stock android recovery and cannot install my rom (says installation aborted or something similar). I have granted root access on both and am pulling my hair out at this stage. I have experience with Galaxy's installing custom ROM's so I am not a total novice but this has stumped me, anyone able to offer any advice?
Thank you in advance!

When root is not properly installed, a custom recovery gets overwritten at boot with the stock recovery. This may the issue you are having!
I'd reccomend asking in this thread here [Guide] Huawei Ascend Y300 Unlock & Root
Some of the users with the same phone, Y300, may be able to help you!

[Q/HELP] Cannot install apps on Huawei MT7-L09 Lollipop 5.1.1 B324

Hello
I have a problem with my Mate. I will try and list the things i did to get to this problem and I hope the information helps solve it.
I wanted to install xposed (first thing I did wrong) so I rooted using King Root (ver 4.8.2) successfully
then unlocked the bootloader using Huawei website
Using Flashy, I flashed TWRP recovery to install xposed (regrets).
After creating back up on TWRP, I tried to flash xposed, didnt work.
I gave up and rebooted phone to android, and i saw i had lost Nav buttons and Notification bar.
Booted back into TWRP and tried to restore my backup. It kept failing at 33% (would post logs but I lost them), I then thought a factory reset would help and it did.
I got the navigation and notification bar, but I soon realised I cannot install apps. I couldn’t install from my SD (apk’s) or from the Play Store.
I can’t install anything on it now. I’ve learnt my lesson not to mess with the inner workings of my device but now I am stuck with EMUI (no Nova or other 3rd party launcher).
Is there any way I can get it back to installing apps as usual? I saw another thread with similar problem (can’t install apps) but I wasn’t sure if I should post there (its old and unattended thread). If I should post this in another thread please point me in the right direction and thank you in advance.
:crying:
I would clear cache and Dalvik cache in recovery then flash back to a stock kitkat recovery, put the correct stock complete kitkat ROM in the dload folder in SD card and do a force update from stock recovery. Once it runs properly again, update to the right ROM you want to run, in the correct order of updates, make sure bootloader is unlocked, root the correct way (not kingroot, use ADB) then seek guidance on what mods work with what ROM. Do not try to root without unlocked bootloader! That ruined it I think.
If you want Xposed, it only partially works in Kitkat, not at all in Lollipop. What do you need with Xposed? I'm running B331 Lollipop now, no Xposed and no real need for it. I do have unlocked bootloader, root and Viper4android and it runs great. I use Smart Launcher Pro but kept Huawei Home (launcher) and theming apps installed so the system is happy but it looks how I want and is good to use.
Thanks for your quick response RobboW, will try that method and let you know if I make any improvement to my situation.
So I have to get a stock KitKat recovery and stock KitKat ROM for that recovery. Do I force an update from TWRP or what? I'll read up on recovering stock Roms and let you know if I make any progress. Thank you for the response though.
Force update with a stock ROM needs to be done from stock recovery. TWRP stops the phone from updating the stock way. The bootloader can stay unlocked if it already is.
It worked exactly like you said. I'm back on Lollipop B324. I can install apps and got the motion control settings back.
Thank you so much RobboW!
You're welcome
OS faults are not so bad if you have access to recovery. It's the ones that make using recovery and ADB difficult that cause the big dramas.

Need a custom ROM for huawei Honor 6 H60-L01

I have been trying to root my device for over a month now. soft bricked it once, solved it using help from xda-forums. have a working custom ROM now but can not root it somehow.
I am using TWRP recovery and kingroot came pre-installed with the custom rom but I don't have root access to uninstall it.
Can you please point me to a thread for rooting this device or to a thread with custom ROM for huawei H60-L01 which already has a root or could be rooted easily.
Thanks for your help.
Have you tried flashing SuperSU zip using TWRP recovery?
Once rooted, you can easily make a custom ROM yourself.

Pixel Root Questions

Hi guys. Please bear with me - I am a noob to rooting phones and custome recoveries. I haven't had an android device since ~2011, so I need some time to get reacquainted. (Poke fun at me for using iPhones)
Either way, I recently got a 5" Google Pixel and have been looking for a decent guide to root it. I have done research on the topic, but I can't find a straightforward guide or instruction list. I believe I could do it, I just don't want to risk bricking a $700 device.
From my understanding, I need to unlock the boot loader, adb boot some custom recovery image, then install the latest root package. Again, if my jargon is confusing I apologize - I've beeb with the Jailbreaking community for quite a while and haven't tweaked an android device forever.
Could someone link a guide or help me out? Also I have been reading places that you must flash the supersu zip to two different locations for it to work properly.
In the end, I'm hoping to have my Pixel rooted on the most recent firmware and be able to use Adaway and to be able to update with FlashFire (I think that's the name). Also, I'm hoping to keep systemless root to avoid tripping SafetyNet. I would like to be able to easily update.
Thanks in advance guys, sorry for the long post. Hopefully someone more knowledgable can take me under their wing.

That's the procedure. I booted TWRP Alpha 2 for installing SuperSU, so that I didn't need to worry about the popup that sometimes doesn't show up on TWRP RC1. The following seems somewhat verbose to me, but it's the correct procedure and includes videos if you want to watch someone do each step. You don't need to download the TWRP zip, so like noted, you can stop at step 12 on the TWRP instructions and avoid installing TWRP to the phone.

Root HTC desire 650

Hello Friends,
I have an HTC desire 650, not dual sim, runs Marshmallow 6.0.1, I have already unlocked the bootloader using manufacturer's instructions, I tried to root with kingoroot, it fails every time, the phone is not bricked and restarts as it should, processor is qualcom snapdraagon 400 1.59 Ghz, model MSM8926, kernek architecture is armv7I, kernerk version is 3.4.0-pref-g1429477, I post the kernel because I saw a 2015 post on this site that for 6.0.1 requires to modify the kernel in order to root, and I have not found any more information on this matter,
Thank you,
$am

I've built a TWRP recovery for this model long time ago, but I do not have the device to test it, and here is my latest build.
https://github.com/sabpprook/twrp_b...ownload/1.0.0/twrp-3.2.1-0-a17_unofficial.img
Try boot this TWRP, it will prevent to modify your recovery partition.
Code:
fastboot boot twrp-3.2.1-0-a17_unofficial.img
If boot command not work, you must flash it.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.2.1-0-a17_unofficial.img
Please let me know if you get any issues from TWRP recovery.

/carrier mount failure just doesn't matter, it won't make you fail to flash anything.

I unlocked bootloader, but I am not able to go any further. The phone seems bricked
just got one of these as a first smartphone for a friend - are there any custom roms available for it? what a shame HTC have not kept it up to date at all.
Hi, is there a Rom 7.x for this device ?.
The TWRP file worked for me thanks
At this moment there are no custom roms
I finally rooted my device, TWRP file worked fine. Unfortunately my phone has the "s-on" status and I can't modify anything in the /system even with this root access, if anyone knows something about this and how can I change that status please share some info, I've been looking but haven't found something that works.
Thanks and sorry for my english, still learning

Help me with my P8 Lite 2017 please

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum, I have been going crazy with a Huawei P8 Lite 2017 for two days, I was trying to install DarkJoker360's AOSP 11 I have already modded a P8 Lite (not 2017) and I had no problems, I managed to install TWRP recovery 3.2.1-0 (I can't find the recovery that DarkJoker recommends) via ADB on my Windows PC I did all the necessary wipes and tried to install this operating system in the partition (Image System) it is an .img file after doing this I restarted and the only thing it does is bring out the Android writing, as if it had installed the rom but then it ends up restarting after a few seconds of this writing, without even getting to the configuration screen, what could I have mistaken?
I apologize for any mistakes but I'm Italian and I might have something wrong

If u still have twrp installed after flashing that custom Rom u can try flashing other custom rom like lineage os
Before flashing anything else try to make sure what your doing 1 mistake could make u ruined like forever if u flashed other custom rom still in bootloop but TWRP uninstalled well than your screwed

Yes, I still have the TWRP installed, precisely version 3.4.0-0, since I could not find a working ROM I tried to debrand it (it was brand Tim) and I think I have done a damage to follow that guide, now I do not not even install the stock rom anymore. I don't know what to do at this point, I would leave the custom rom alone and reinstall its stock rom, at least debrand ...
