Hi,
I am trying to connect the DAC FIIO E18 to my HTC One XL from Telstra Australia.
Problem, the connection seems to be ok because the button play*pause, previous, next work.
But the sound doesn't go through the USB. I installed USB Audio player pro, and works fine with this software, but I want to have the USB Audio for all applications (google music).
I was with a custom rom ViperXL, and when I plug the dac, the phone doesn't work properly and when I reboot is going to safe mode.
So I install the cyanogenMod11 and this is the same.
I wanted to update a new firmware, but I am unable to change my CID.
I tried different tools and manually changed mmcblk0p5 or mmcblk0p4 with adb. I have no error, but the file isn't changed!!!
So I can't S-Off my phone to change the firmware which I suppose is responsible of the USB Driver. This dac seems to work with a updated Stock Rom.
So why I can't change my CID?
Do you think if I update the firmware/hboot to 2.18 could resolve my usb problem?
Below, full details of my phone.

You should try getting s-off via the Rumrunner method, it doesn't require SuperCID so you needn't worry about that.

Thanks for this quick answer !!
I tried this tool before but without success. I tried again, and still not working.
I am going to install a Sense 4 based rom to give a try (the miuiv5-4.1.3)
I currently have cyanogenmod 11 and the latest Viper XL rom doesn't work for me (because of HBoot 2.14??)
I'll let you know, and if it's work.
Cheers,
Alex

Try flashing the Kickdroid ROM and trying Rumrunner again, I've seen the best success rate on that ROM. You need to make sure your conditions are perfect too, no firewall, anti-virus, etc can be running at the time. It's all mentioned on the Rumrunner site.
Yesssss.
I am S-OFF. So this is working with miuiv5-4.1.3.
Now, it is time (to sleep) to try a new firmware and see how it goes with the USB Dac
Thank you very much timmaaa
No problems.

I updated my phone with the Firmware 2.18 and installed kickdroid rom.
I am now up to date, but I still have the problem with the DAC.
Same problem, when I plug it in, the sound doesn't pass through the USB. Button still working.
If I start the phone with the DAC connected, the phone boot into safe mode!!!
I still need to install USB Audio player pro to be able to listen through USB.
Any idea what can I try? Is there any chance that the USB driver is part of the kernel, so could works with another kernel (currently I have the stock kernel)
Thanks for your help
If you want to try a custom kernel, the only one that's available for use with current Sense ROMs is Elemental.

Thanks timmaaa for your help, it is much appreciated.
Unfortunately, the problem is the same with Elemental Kernel.
I think the HTC One XL isn't compatible with USB Audio. But the hardware seems to allow USB Audio because it is working with USB Player pro which have a specific usb driver!!
I don't know which level of the software is responsible of the usb driver. ROM, kernel or firmware?
Do you think I can have a chance with other roms and/or kernels or firmware (I have the 2.18)?
Cheers,
Alex

I'm not exactly sure but my guess would be that it's at the kernel kernel. You could try flashing a few ROMs to see if they have the usb audio functionality built in. Other than that I'm pretty stumped unfortunately.

Thanks.
There is a thread about this for Nexus 5 and 7. It is not natively accept usb audio, but people update the CM11 and this is working.
But this is for the nexus and I am not sure that the CM11 for one XL contains the change for USB Audio.
I tried the CM11 but was before flashing the latest Hboot.
I will try other AOSP and CM11 rom with different kernel (if I am motivated because it is a pain to change rom every time!)
My other solution will be to change my phone if I want the DAC working !! For the moment it is working well on my computer which is its main purpose!
Thank you.

I recently purchased a phone on ebay in great condition. It was locked, and was on stock rom. I decided I liked how my custom rom operated on my other phone so I unlocked, rooted, and added a custom rom (initally Cyanogenmod, then I tried PacMan) using this tutorial - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583427.
Regardless of the ROM, I haven't been able to get anything over edge data speeds. I've checked the APN settings and they are correct. I have an unlimited data T-Mobile plan.

My phone got stuck on EDGE after updating to the official JB OTA. I've tried a lot of things and have yet to find a fix. Might have to resort to sending it in for warranty, if possible. Looks like yours is on JB. Did you update it, or did you get it like that?

Going to try downloading the appropriate RUU to see if that fixes it.
Have you tried forcing it to WCDMA only in *#*#4636#*#*?
There is no RUU yet for t-mobile JB, not that I know of.

Doubt this will help, but have you thought about trying to S-Off and then running an old RUU (ICS)? It sounds like it could be a hardware issue, though, as you mentioned.

I'm working on that now, currently getting error: device not found once I type adb shell to get SUPERCID. Looking at other posts to figure out how to get this to work. Phone connected to computer and showing FASTBOOT USB so the computer sees that it is connected. Once I get SUPERCID then I can get S-Off and try going back to ICS.
With adb shell, am I supposed to have my device driver files in the "platform tools" folder so the adb server can identify my phone? HTC Sense and drivers are already installed and work fine.

Nope, just need HTC Sync, then uninstall it (so you're left with only the drivers) and get adb and fastboot files.
Edit: I don't think adb works in fastboot, works while booted only.

I know you mentioned ADB not working when in fastboot. As a poster mentioned before, ADB only works when phone is booted up, not in fastboot. Make sure you have Debugging checked in developer options in the settings menue. I'm almost certain when you SuperCID, you start off with a booted up phone, not in fastboot, so that my be where you are running into an issue.
Also, do you have a custom recovery installed at this point? Just curios. Will your sd not mount in recovery, or just in general.
Keep working. You'll sort it out and learn a ton in the process. That's why I love XDA. Super helpful community.

Been there and definitely understand. It can be frustrating, but I feel like most issues can be sorted out. Have you tried a different USB cord or port on your computer. Seems silly, but I've had similar issues, search high and low on xda, and someone suggested to try to different cord and it mounted. These phones can be moody.
Good luck and report back if you need more help.

Once I can find and flash stock recovery I think I'll be one step close to accessing my sdcard, and from there stock ROM or ICS ROM so I can get superCID, and then S-OFF.

The first post in this thread has a link for the stock recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250573
I know I'm an idiot. I didn't do a nandroid backup. Basically I got a stock HTC Inspire recently and started messing with it but after flashing the first ROM I lost all radio ability. It currently has a CWM recovery and is running CM7. I've never been able to get s-off to work and some threads make it seem impossible for my model.
After spending way too much time in the IRC chat with attn1 et al, we've come to the conclusion that HTC has gimped this in the OTA update. They've silently closed the eMMC write protect hole that is used in the downgrade ROM with gfree and would have worked with the stock ROM before the OTA update, but we'll have to work a new angle in the OTA updated Inspires.

You are not able to flash radios with S-ON...I don't get what you are trying to do. CM7 does need work with a different RIL, it needs the original one. RILS must be flashed in sense based roms only.
Reflash CM7 without wiping and that should solve the issue.

I've always heard that you can't flash radios without s-off, but I guess the wording of the post below must have made me think there were other ways.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12264291
I'm not really looking to flash a radio, I was mainly worried that something I did may have accidentally flashed a bad radio. I just want my phone to make and receive calls. I guess I could have just had my wires crossed from the beginning. The first ROM I flashed was a Sense ROM but I didn't know to install a RIL so it only sort of worked. I tried CM next and only really installed a RIL out of desperation. I guess the Inspire radio thread makes radio and RIL sound like a necessary combo.
My wife has the SIM right now so I have to wait until I have it to test the CM7 re-install. Thanks for your help and sorry if my post was confusing; I only added the other info in case it was useful to someone.

I reflashed CM7 without wiping and it said error while searching for networks. I read in the CM forums that this has been an ongoing problem they were working on so I decided to give up on CM for a while. I wiped the phone, flashed what should have been a rooted stock rom (DHD_WWE_3.12.405.1_STOCK_rooted_by_nitr00), flashed a RIL with a version that matched my radio and flashed the boot from inside the rom. It booted up fine and asked for my carrier (AT&T) but I still get no bars. Does it matter that the rom flashed was a DHD rom? I had already tried it without a RIL (it was the first one I fever flashed).

All threads marked with Q should be posted on this section.
I'd suggest running the latest RUU. But as mentioned above, more details are needed. If the phone is SuperCID (very likely is, if its a modded AT&T version) and S-on, running the 3.18 RUU will brick the device.
If RUU doesn't help, it might be a hardware problem.

Well, you didn't do everything, otherwise there would be no point in you asking what to do.
Just a pet peeve of mine when people make statement here like "I tried everything". Be specific as to what you exactly you tried. Otherwise, we have no way of knowing what has been done or not been done, and its hard to help.

thanks for moving thred to Q&A section.
You're in the wrong forum, you have the Endeavor (HTC One X) and this is the Evita (HTC One XL) forum. I'll ask to have this moved to the correct device forum for you.

I'd suggest running the latest RUU. But as mentioned above, more details are needed. If the phone is SuperCID (very likely is, if its a modded AT&T version) and S-on, running the 3.18 RUU will brick the device.
If RUU doesn't help, it might be a hardware problem.

is there a way to install RUU from Ubuntu (im using ubuntu 12.04) other than wirtual box. Its not superCID CID is HTC__001
thanks

Well, you didn't do everything, otherwise there would be no point in you asking what to do.
Just a pet peeve of mine when people make statement here like "I tried everything". Be specific as to what you exactly you tried. Otherwise, we have no way of knowing what has been done or not been done, and its hard to help.

Understood, and that is just why I politely suggested how you can help other members to help you!
More info and being specific is almost always better when posting here.

I flashesd stock rom few times, even tried few custom roms like MiUi v5, and now I'm running it on Google play edition rom and still having reboot problems on 3g network
Any idea or suggestion what to do?
i think this problem is not about the rom or flashing or anything about system, i finely rooted my htc sensation and instalet many roms, the last one is Rnny KitKat, and i still have the same issue. so i give up now and i will just use the 2g and wifi

I'm using 2G for now, but it's slow, I wanna use 3G.
Found the FIX for our problem!:good:
Just when I was about to give up on this cause I tried enything that was suggested online i downloaded XLMultiTool.v2.1 from this forum and flashed new radio into my phone. I was using ICS radio and now I flashed GB radio just to see if that helps, and it did!!!
My phone is over 48h on 3G network and I didn't have single reboot!! Plus internet is super fast and smooth and I have better network signal with this radio!
Someone please make thread about this in development part of forum so other people with this problem can fix their phones! I'm unable to do that cause I don't have enough posts or something like that...
Someone help me please. I just got HTC Sensation 4g. When I'm in big cities like one where I study, this phone works perfectly. When I go home (a small town) my phone keeps restarting like retarded. I tried switching from 3g to 2g but that doesn't work.

Hi everybody.
I hope one of you can help me.
Iam having trouble with my one xl.
There is a problem with the screen (After standby/black screen it doesn't come back, only the led's of the 3 display buttons are flashing when i press the power button) Hard reset only helps sometimes. Iam very confused.
And it has a very bad connection to the service-provider and the Wifi.
The history of my phone:
I bought it a year ago with a broken screen. So I replaced the display and everything went fine up to the moment I updated to the latest Viperxl rom from the 3.2.8 or something. So it worked about a half year without problems.
So I tried to unlock the phone via rumrunner and after "pouring (2)....." it doesn't responded to the command line. So I restarted the phone and installed a stock T-mobile 4.2.2. with no improve. Still the same issues. But a unlocked phone
After that I installed the ElementalX Kernel and the Radio given in the stock-rom-thread. With still the same issues.
First I thought my display is broken again, but when I press Power and vol. down it sometimes starts the fast boot ...
One thing I've learned "never change a running system"......
I hope anyone of you can help me
May there is a easy way to solve this
Not a expert
But I also had this problem intact I saw lot of guys here with this problem but after installing new roms I had the problem where I had to press the power key a few times for the screen to show up I think u she just change ur ROM

Which ROM/kernel are you currently on? It sounds like an SOD (sleep of death) to me.

Is the SOD caused by my "combination" of Kernel and Rom/Radio?
The ROM is a stock ROM but not technically from an RUU. The problems you're facing are very possibly caused by your ROM/kernel combination. Running an RUU is a good idea because it will return your phone to a stock configuration (ROM, kernel, radio). Boot the phone up after running the RUU and run it without modification for about a day. If the problem still happens then you've got a hardware problem, if the problem stops then you can be confident it was caused by the ROM or kernel or both.

You're s-off so you don't need to relock your bootloader before running the RUU or anything like that, just go ahead and run it. You'll find all Evita RUUs here:

Thank you very much for your help.
I'll try and hope that it is "only" caused by the Rom,kernel, etc.
