[Q] Lost, weird state in Soft-bricked S3. - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

First post..
Hello all.
I was running a CM11 nightly on my SCH-I535 and need to take back my phone to Verizon. The nightly wasn't rooted or didn't allow me root access so I couldn't use Triangle Away to reset my flash counter. I tried to flash a newer stock rom I535VRUDNE1 and soft-bricked my phone although Odin said the process failed. Since then I have tried to fix the problem and the only step I've made forward was when I flashed a stock recovery and was able to get into recovery. Everything else I try to flash via Odin fails. The main two fail messages are: FAIL! (auth) and Complete(Write) operation failed. I'm at a loss of where to go and what to do now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
- dmatsler
p.s.- the download screen reads as follows:
Product Name: SCH-I535
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Official
Qualcomm Secureboot: Enable
Bootloader AP SWREV: 2
SW REV Check Fail: Fused 2 > Binary 0
Thanks again!

If it gets to download mode, you should be able to flash a stock firmware.

In the newer versions of Odin, you're supposed to use ap. Maybe you should update Odin and try it out with the ap option

Edit:
I keep getting failure messages in the form of the two in the op.

[Q] Nightmare rooting and flashing experience...Help needed.

Ok, here are the details:
Samsung GT-P3113TS Galaxy Tab 2
When I bought it, it was running Android 4.1.1 as the stock ROM. I rooted using Chainfire's Auto Root via Odin and that worked fine, no issues. That was the last time. As soon as I tried to Odin in Clockworkmod, the problems started. After Odin failed on that, I no longer had access to recovery of any sort, for whatever reason. All I could do was get into download mode. After Odin telling me it had successfully flashed Clockworkmod, I could still not get into recovery and the phone would just sit at the boot screen (not boot loop, just sit at the boot screen). From there I tried flashing via Odin some packages that were supposed to take everything back to stock that I got from reading around here and getting from sammobile.com, all of which didn't work and will fail in Odin at various points. At some point, I was able to get the 4.0.4 ROM up and running fine. I then followed the instructions to unroot my tablet and just use Kies to upgrade the firmware and call it a day. Well...Kies failed on the upgrade and put me back into the same spot I was in before.
I'm back at the point now where Odin will say that it successfully flashed a Clockworkmod recovery but I cannot get into it and it sits at the boot screen. If I try to Odin in any of the three ROMs I got from sammobile.com, they fail and I have to re-run the Clockworkmod flash or else my tablet sits at the screen that tells you a firmware upgrade has failed and to reconnect Kies.
Can someone help me get this thing fixed?

I have tried flashing both CWM 5.1.1.4 as well as CWM 6.0.1.1.
Currently, using Odin3 v3.04 instead of Odin3 v1.85 I have it up in "CWM-based recovery v5.5.0.4". I don't have any ROMs or anything on the internal SD card and don't have anything on an external card either (I have a 4GB one while I wait for my 32GB to come in if that helps me get something done).
This is so much more of a pain in the ass than my Samsung Nexus S 4G and SIII were haha. ADB is the way to go!
I believe the most recent cwm recovery for the tablet is 6.0.2.3. Maybe you simply need to flash a newer recovery?

Does it matter if it is old or new if I can't even boot into recovery? Also, how can I get the newest recovery on there when desktop Odin does not flash .img? I don't have a Linux box to compile a .tar.
UPDATE: I got CWM 6.0.2.3 Touch installed but now I need to wait for the battery to charge as it is at a critical level. From there I should be able to load AOKP or CM onto the external card and flash that way. If that works I'll make sure I make some flipping backups this time. All of this could have been averted had I just made a backup after I rooted. As they say "Haste makes waste."
Maybe this link will help you with the cwm:

Didn't work. It seems that the top three ROMs from sammobile.com don't work. One fails right away and two others always fail seconds after trying to write "hidden.img". When I was in CWM it always cut out about the same time too... Could I need to repartition?
Still stuck at boot screen and back to no access to any sort of recovery...
Everything new seems to work the first time but the second time I try to do it, it doesn't. Frustrating...

How do I do this? I've never had to repartition before. What are the risks? After the attempted flash fails from the "Downloading...Do not turn off target!!" screen, the Odin log says this:
"<ID:0/003> Initialzation..
<ID:0/003> Get PIT for mapping..
<ID:0/003> Firmware update start..
<ID:0/003> boot.img
<ID:0/003> NAND Write Start!!
<ID:0/003> cache.img
<ID:0/003> hidden.img
<ID:0/003>
<ID:0/003> Complete(Write) operation failed.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)"
Just load the PIT file into ODIN and check re-partition, then load the PDA package and flash as normal.

And it isn't that much riskier than a normal ODIN flash.

Can you help me locate the proper PIT file? I was looking around last night and info on that part of flashing is sparse at best. If it helps, I specifically have the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0" GT-P3113TS 8GB.
Update: After struggling with a few different things I decided the best thing to do was to just give up on it, play dumb about the firmware error, and exchange the tablet out for a new one. Being that I've rooted and ROMed many many Android phones in the past and never had issue I couldn't recover from like this one, something makes me think that maybe it was a refurbished tablet for a reason... Of course, it could be that I made a bonehead mistake along the way too. Oh well. Thanks everyone for your help!

If you can get into Download Mode... don't worry. You can try flashing a stock rom with odin. If this don't work, then you have to flash a stock rom with odin but adding the pit file and marking the repartition check box.
All your info will be erased... but your tablet will come back to life

[Q] Help with softbrick, not sure what to do!

I was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction.
I've recently flashed the modified ML1 modem from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1788313 and tried both using 4.3 Wicked Sensations and 4.3 MOAR. Phone was working great with either one until just normally restarting the phone, it would get stuck on the Samsung Galaxy SIII logo. My temporary fix was to go back into TWRP, wipe everything, and just reflash either rom but once in a while my phone would randomly lock up and I'd have to restart the phone to run into the same problem.
So I tried using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1840030 this guide to maybe fix the problem but ODIN keeps failing when flashing the vzw.root_66.tar. I've used this once before and it worked, but this was over a year ago. Do I need to do something differently because I've technically updated my phone?
Now I'm in a situation where powering on the phone, it gives the unauthorized by verizon wireless msg even when holding the vol up and home keys but I am still able to access download mode.
Thanks!

I had a similar issue caused by trying to flash a bad rom. I tried to do an odin flash of the VRALEC file and it succeeded but the flash of the root66 failed due to a bad cable. Now i'm getting the unauthorized message. I downloaded the firmware from the link but I'm curious what the steps are for flashing it. Do I need to flash something else first or can I just pop that file in to ODIN and flash it and be back up again?

Not sure without actually seeing the code, your card may be mounted as a read only type and it prevents any kind of writing to it. Hero wrote a guide for that problem, it's on the old roll up thread.

[Q] How do I hard-brick my phone?

Hello,
I'm trying to hard-brick my phone. Here's the deal, I can get into ODIN Mode only, no recovery and no regular boot. The problem is that the VZW software and anything I flash in ODIN fails. Both ML1 and NC1 yield a "Fused 2 > Binary 1" error and flashing NE1 results in a failed write in ODIN but no error on my phone (so I suspect it's the right ROM that needs to be flashed, but I have a RO system). I've tried with and without the PIT as well. So, the only option I see left is to hard brick the device and try the SD card method of de-bricking it. Anyone have any thoughts how I can do that or any thoughts on what I should try to flash?
Thanks!

Well, the version I have 1.2.8 doesn't support Android 4.4 and the version I downloaded only supports ADB mode. I don't see any sort of ODIN mode support. ADB won't attach to the phone so none of the options work and the toolkit just hangs.

N-915V needs help

Had an issue with knox being tripped. Tried to odin to stock MM and it failed. Now it's stuck flashing a boot.img, I'd like ot req a pit file from someone and some help getting another odin flashable stock rom, I've only some modified ones.
Okay, so nevermind on that, I fixed the issue I had, Odin would flash a couple files and stop at flashing the recovery, for the stock .tar file. I pulled the boot.img out of the stock .tar.md5, converted it to a odin flashable using this program and it booted into the verizon screen.
UPDATES:
So apparently that didn't fix the issue rather just tried to force an incomplete boot. I'll try to adb the recovery on there, not entirely sure that is possible either since no recovery will load in, I can't edit the recovery out of the tar file, and I can't create a flashable tar of just the system. Everything else has installed.
Again I got it fixed. Changed USB and restarted phone and computer.
