are theme engines implemented by cm11 and thus by other roms like PA resource intensive? do they make the rom slower?
Theme engines do use resource.. The theme isn't implemented at boot. It is constantly working
That said im sure it's neglegable

I ported over my inTIGERation theme if anyone wants to use it. This is only for CM6-RC3!!!!
All the options in spareparts for the notifications and what not all need to be changed to #FFFFFFFF. This will get you your white letters!

Bro I use many things like application and developers script and flash it but not it very helpful... I use simple things like
Disable the phone application who not useful for me....... and use Greenify or like similar application. .........

2. Upon reboot, the color on the text reverts back to the default theme scheme.

theme system has still some bugs, this is not right place to moan, but write to developer instead.
Or better, decompile related apk, fix the issue, then write to dev. you will contribute a lot.
nothing is so hard.....
