Test CWM on D2303 down, at one's own risk! (Otherwise it is necessary to flash factory firmware!)

yes, you need to check it on the firmware version 18.0.C.1.13. I myself can not check, because I have a D2302

I tried to flash it the D2303 versions but for me the phone didn't boot afterwards. Has any one else tried it?

M2 owner rooted
so is the boot image not working and your mobile stuck i was going to try it but will wait for someone to say it works okay

Try this:
1. Unlock the bootloader
2. Install original firmware through flashtool
3. Replace boot.img
It should work! After the vibration happens a second time, you need to press the "volume down"

locked bootloader
will this work on locked bootloader .

No need to unlock the bootloader in advance

so bsically your phone needs to be
1. unlocked to any network
2. unlock bootloader
3. rooted
4, cwm
5. if all done before no .4

Thank you. I tested again and it does boot into cwm this way but when it boots into system the screen remains blank. But it feels like system has booted as you can feel the vibrations on screen touch.

Hey there. I installed it but no good. When I rebooted I got. Nothing on the screen and only a flashing red led.
Sent from my D2303 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

OK! I finally got it running on Xperia M2 Dual D2302
My steps and issues:
1/
Initially I saved the first SUS update received from Sony which appeared to be and finally is 18.0.B.1.23 (android 4.3) despite the phone being already on that same firmware > did the ftf out of it.
When I launched SUS again 2 days later it wanted to download the new update, 18.3.B.0.31 (android 4.4.2, I believe), instead of using the previous one. So I downloaded it and created the ftf for later.
2/
I rooted using TowelRoot without any problem. sweeeet (>_<)
3/
Did the TA Backup and dry tested it. Fingers crossed...
4/
Went to unlock using normal Sony procedure but I wasn't receiving any email at work. Finally I ran it through Flashtool, which indeed takes you to Sony website. I had to choose Xperia M Dual as M2 is not available. Then the phone locked with a black screen. Hopefully Sony has added an off HW button to disconnect the battery (finally!). I started the phone which entered into a boot loop
Then in whatever order I tried:
- to flash the boot img given by NFound
- tried to relock, unlock via Flashtool
- let it boot loop for awhile
- and finally flashed the first ftf I did > SUCCESS! The phone started fine.
5/
from there I was able to pursue the tutorial by flashing NFound boot img. CWM available
6/
flash SuperUS-Update with CWM, here's ROOT!
7/
busybox... etc
GREAT!
NFound, your post #8 HAD the solution, I realized that just now
Thanks for your work and risk taken with this. This M2 Dual is not even for me but for a workmate, I must be insane or simply perfectionist...
Have you tried to update to 4.4.2 with the recently published update?

Thank you!!
Finally running on my D2302

Can we use this on the new update?

[Q] Is there a way to boot up my Sony Xperia Tipo in recovery mode?

My xperia tipo smartphone won't boot up . I think this has to do with the build.prop file which is in the system directory. In an attempt to make my phone run Modern Combat 2, I downloaded a custom build.prop file from here and replaced it with the original one (I made a backup first in the sd card directory). Then I tried to reboot my phone, but now it won't boot . It only shows me the sony logo and stays there. Even after waiting an hour, still nothing. I've tried many ways to boot my xperia tipo in recovery mode, like holding down power button and Vol Up, or by pressing the screen repeatendly after the sony logo appears and MANY MORE, but no luck. I'M SO PISSED WITH MYSELF! Can anyone help?
You could maybe try to install the stock rom over it. Flashtool + *.tft rom.

THIS THREAD IS SO OLD! I WAS A NEWBIE AT ANDROID PHONES BACK THEN. NOW PRO
When you flash recovery with recoverx, you can't boot up into recovery when in stock kernel. So flash a kernel (i use vegeance) through flashtool, and when u boot up your phone, when the led light turns pink, press vol up/down a few times.
There you go!

If you have an xperia smartphone, you can go on "phone" and type *#*#7378423#*#*. A service menu will come up if you typed it right. Then go to "service info" > "customization" and then search for "bootloader unlock allowed". If that says yes, you can unlock it. If it says no or it doesn't exist, then you can't do it.

Sony Tipo ST21i went weird

Hello Guys. Today i wanted to install Walkman Player for my tipo. My friend sent me some APKs. I install CWM to my Tipo and installed those APKs using CWM. But when i rebooted the device, the ICS was changed. This ICS looked like the ICS of XPERIA U and all(Updates Ones). I tried to Factory reset but it didnt work. I had done backup using TITANIUM. Even restoring it, i couldnt get back my Tipo ICS. Is there any way to Completely Reset back again it was normal?
Guys please somebody REPLY! The phone looks very ugly. Is there some way that i can get back my original ROM? Please do tell me what other choice do i have? This is how its looking.
Download flashtool and ftf, flash it to stock and learn to use 'search' .
This advice is given in almost all unbrick threads , to restore to stock.

If you unlocked bootloader so dont use PCC or SUS to upgrade your firmware, you must be on locked bootloader then upgrade. Via PCC/SUS
Or stay unlocked then upgrade via flashtool

[Xperia M][CWM][Unlocked BL]C1905 15.1.C.1.17 stock kernel with CWM (dirty)

This release is deprecated by a new release.
Check http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2480556
I just packed a (dirty) flashable boot image for the Xperia M (C1905), for unlocked bootloader.
This image contains the kernel from Build 15.1.C.1.17 (C1905), and modified stock ramdisk. I don't know how other devs pack their kernel with recovery but this is how I just get it done.
Don't try it with C1904 yet!
To check the model of your Xperia M, go to settings > about phone. "Model" should show either C1904 or C1905. If it says C1905, you can proceed, but if not, stand back.
If you are really brave and wouldn't mind losing all your data and need to reflash with Sony Update Service, you can try with your C1904 and please kindly report your results back.
Please backup your data before proceeding! I am not responsible for any data loss!
I've tried on my own Xperia M (C1905) and it sort of worked, but I haven't tried any of the functions. You are warned!
** You need unlocked bootloader and busybox installed to use this. Before you unlock the bootloader, you need to backup all your data and remove the SD card because everything will be deleted! **
Known problems:
Screen shifts by half when screen updates
USB does not work at all
If USB cable is connected when trying to enter recovery, it will freeze and you need to remove the battery
Install instructions (skip to step 5 if you already unlocked bootloader, rooted and installed busybox):
Install the latest Android SDK platform tools on your computer.
Root and install busybox: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2457174
busybox is mandatory for this to work!
Backup TA partition: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598 (do this if you want to relock in the far future)
Unlock bootloader: All data will be lost! SD card will be formatted!
Download the attached zip and extract the boot image.
Power off your Xperia M, hold the Volume Up button and connect USB cable, release button when blue LED is on.
Execute:
Code:
fastboot flash boot
Wait for it to show finished.
Disconnect USB cable.
Boot instructions:
Power off your Xperia M.
Disconnect USB!!!
Power on by holding the power button. Your Xperia M should vibrate once like normal boot
You should feel a second vibration. When you feel it, press Volume Up once (no need to hold down).
You should feel another vibration.
You have booted into CWM!
Thanks:

Actually, I myself prefer AOSP over CM, so if I start developing custom ROMs for this device it has to be AOSP. I wouldn't mind building a clean CWM for this device though.

EDIT: Thanks for doing that.
hi alvinwong, i'll share my experience after i flash this boot.img
first, if i down in menu of cwm the menu seems like sparated (broken), and down again its normal, and if i down again it'll sparated, and so on
two, when i try to backup in last i got an error notif (i forget the specific text but its error notif)
and last, when i try to flash a sound mod to my phone i got bootloop, and when i try to factory reset it still bootloop (I guess after factory reset my phone should be boot normally)
but i appreciate your great work :good:
i hope you'll fix it, cheers! :highfive:

I think it wouldn't run with 4.3 kernel. It would be fine if u tick nothing in the exlude list.

all tuts tell me to untick kernel.sin
Maybe it's a root tutorial. Btw, to recover from bootloop, u can just leave everything default or untick data, applog, cache, and partition if u wanna keep ur data. But once it's booted it's a stock firmware without root.
