[Completed] samsung gt-i5800 and cyanogenmod 7 - XDA Assist

hi, i've been experimenting with a samsung gt-i5800 which i was given for free if i could unbrick it (it only needed factory restored) i've successfully rooted it and decided to have a go at installing a custom rom, because i was fed up of having to use a static ip address to connect to wifi.
i used odin to put cyanogenmod 7 on it. it worked, and i'm happy with the mod, but it's showing that there's 0kb of internal storage, and every time it's rebooted it behaves as if it's been factory reset (settings, contacts apps etc are all gone) i've read a few topics about these problems, apparently the solution is to wipe it and reinstall the custom rom.
what i'm not entirely clear about is what is meant by wiping it. i'm assuming it doesn't just mean using the recovery menu to factory restore again? what exactly do i need to delete and how do i do it safely? thanks!

Hi,
I suggest you to go here for find some good help => Galaxy 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
and at the same time, you can go here and read to find your problem with CM 7 version => Galaxy 3 Android Development
Good luck

thanks, i figured out how to use CWM recovery to properly clear it out, then reinstalled from a zip with CWM, it's now working properly.

[Resolved] [Q] Samsung S3 Mini GT-I8190N Will not connect to network after reflash with Cyanogen

Hi guys,
I am new to the site but I have flashed ROMS before onto my old Galaxy S2.
I've been trying now for the last 24 hours to flash my stock Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini GT-I8190 with Cyanogenmod (any version, I really don't care at this moment in time!)
I've rooted the phone and it has TWRP on it V 2.6.3.0.
I've backed up the EFS folder and I have it stored on my PC.
I have tried the following variations listed below (no links allowed on Noob posts)
These have all been downloaded from Novafusion downloads:
(no links allowed on Noob posts)
All versions CAN be successfully flashed to the phone. I've been undertaking the following steps to do this:
Ensure that Stock Build is on the phone using Odin & the following file:
I8190NXXALL6_I8190NH3GALL2_HOME.tar
All other Cyanogen ROMS are in .zip format accessed via TWRP.
From TWRP
Clear Cache
Clear Dalvik Cache
Factory Reset
Now I install one of the following ROMS & the associated GAPPS File
Install > CM10_golden.nova.20130727.zip
Install > (relevant Gapps file)
OR
Install > CM10.1_golden.nova.20140404.zip
Install > (relevant Gapps file)
OR
Install > CM10.2_golden.nova.20140423.zip
Install > (relevant Gapps file)
OR
Install > CM11.0_golden.nova.20140426.zip
Install > (relevant Gapps file)
Once installed I complete the following:
Clear Cache
Clear Dalvik Cache
Factory Reset
I then boot up the phone, get the the main screen after the various questions etc.
The phone is not connected to the network and it will not recognise the SIM.
If i go to the about section the same IMEI number is in there each time (including when I flash it back to stock).
I've also experimented with the most up to date baseband taken from a thread on XDA which I can't seem to find at the moment i've listed the ones i've tried below:
GT-I8190NXXANB1_modem.bin_update
GT-I8190NXXAMG6_modem.bin_update
GT-I8190NXXAMI1_modem.bin_update
I can confirm that the Baseband does change when I boot the phone back up and check in the settings, however changing baseband doesn't connect the phone to the network.
I've then tried to restore the EFS from TWRP which has no effect.
Guys, I've genuinely tried to search and try my way through this (all be it using google - most threads are XDA anyway).
I've found lots of useful threads but after following them to try different things i've come to a standstill.
If it helps i'm on the Three UK network.
I cannot get to the bottom of this. Can you please help me?
Thank you in advance.
Andy.
I roted and changed my rom with no problem at all im on EE now and all os working, I am really surprised of your problem, hope someone will help you with that.

Guys, now manged to resolve this by following this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2566918&page=2
I backed up the EFS folder when the phone was on stock.
Wiped the caches, system and data.
Applied the Rom I wanted.
Applied the matching Gapps version.
Booted up to check.
No signal.
Went into recovery again and installed the zip that Piskor had made.
Booted phone back up. Could then search for networks.
Found network and all OK.
Thanks,
Andy.
Good that you solved that problem.
I once had same issue. Any custom rom was unable to connect o network. I searched a lot and then found that samsung's latest official firmware version has some bugs. So then i downgraded firmware package version and then installed other roms which solved my problem.
Just telling this so that if anyone having same problem as I mentioned can get solution.

[Completed] Need help after a root!

So I rooted my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 the T-Mobile version then put the Cyanogenmod on it now all the apps i have ever downloaded are gone and i cannot get them back. Every time I try to doanload something it says your download will be installed soon then nothing happens. I have looked in the apps part of my phone and the downloads but nothing. I am starting to regret using Cyangenmod now. Please help.
Hi,
It sounds to me like when you installed CM, you probably wiped data in recovery first? Or a factory reset? If so, yes, all user apps would be gone. Next time use something like titanium backup to backup apps and data first.
As far as apps not installing, try clearing the play store cache and data in device settings, apps... And click play store.
If that doesn't help, you will need to register on XDA and ask for help in the thread you downloaded the rom from.
Good luck!

[Completed] Samsung Galaxy S3 Sprint - Problems restoring stock rom Backup (TWRP)

Phone was originally bone stock, I then rooted & installed TWRP recovery, booted into TWRP and did the Backup option and saved it to SD Card, I then flashed CM 12.1 and used it for a little over a month, trying the various Nightly updates.
I decided to go back to the stock rom I had backed up previously, It restores successfully but when I boot the phone everything is crashing once it hits the home screen, "Unfortunately xxxx has stopped" is seen over and over, I can't load anything, even the settings menu crashes.
I then tried rebooting into TWRP and did Factory reset but when I do this It wont ever get past the Samsung logo on reboot.
Not sure what went wrong with the backup or if Im missing a step, I also tried enabling the verify MD5 check option for the Backup and it says everything is fine.
For now I'm back in CM 12.1, Any ideas appreciated!
Hello and thank you for using XDA Assist.
Your device has a dedicated forum and within that forum you have a Q&A section specifically for your device.
Please try searching within this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-sprint/help and I am sure others have previously experienced the same thing.
You will find the device experts for your Sprint S3 there.
Within that forum you could also find a stock rooted Rom and download and flash that. You do need to know exactly what boot loader your device is running.
Good luck
Ragnar

F***ed up badly, now downloading factory rom, need help to continue

Hi guys, I just registered @ xda because it looks like it's the only serious and feedback active community available. In 10 minutes I found most of the info I was looking for, but I still want to make sure what Im planning to do is fine before I mess up again. Here's the issue:
I was fooling around with the tablet and had just rooted it so I could get rid of some bloatware, and decided to go further and install cyanogen, just for the looks. So I got this thing cm-10.1-20130411-EXPERIMENTAL-p3110-M3 from the official site, which was I put on a folder inside the tablets storage (not on the 16gb SDcard it had in it). I downloaded Rom Manager and skipped through the "search and download rom" and went for the option of looking for it inside the SD card. I had the Backup options and the wipe cache and data ON.
So I proceeded and it booted, started to do the backup and at some final point it had an error, something like "could not backup Data!". I had the options of rebooting, some other stuff and the option of installing a rom from the SD Card. I went for it and searched for the .zip inside the storage, and installed it. It did it withouth trouble, and when it finishd it prompted me to install an update, which I didn't (don't know why).
Then, I went for the reeboot option and when it started I get the normal samsung's black screen with the device's name on it, but then I get a fast glitching image that sweeps through the screen and the cyanogen startup logo which gets stuck for ever.

Now Im past it, I can get to download or recovery mode, so I moved onto getting the original firmware so I can clean-install again. I got it from sammobile, chose the one belonging to Chile (that's where I got the tablet), and it's 729mb of data. The tablet is a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 P3110
If I flash it with Odin will everything be fine? All I have to do is that thing in downloadmode when I rooted it, but with that 729mb file? Should I put it in the external SD or is it more convenient to place it in the internal storage?
I appreciate your help in advance, I know this is as basic as it gets but messing up again would cost me dearly, since I have to do other stuff.
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1900055 read here, all the information you will need.
It's fine to flash through odin, you will back at stock provided you don't overlook small details and do exactly like the way it is shown. Don't worry, Don't panic. Just be careful to use the files meant for your device only. Second be extra careful when you are dealing with kernel file, pit file or reparation in odin in future.
Third, get root and custom recovery, twrp.
Fourth, after your device start running take backup from twrp recovery. That will save you from most of the trouble.
Most of the details and instructions are already here

hey thanks a lot, im feeling better ow. There's just one issue left: I cant download the original firmware (it's 699mb, and the download keeps stopping midway through it). What happens if I go into clockwork recovery mode and do a factory reset? would that bring me to the original OS? Im kinda scared of downloading an erroneous file again.
EDIT: im doing a factory reset and then flashing this rom called AOSP Project Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 P3110 which is a 161mb file. Will that work?

Factory reset is just clearing data and cache, if you have made changes in kernel or system, factory reset won't reset them, in your case, system has been altered so you will have to format system, then flash the new rom. If you were on jelly bean stock, you are good to flash it.

You guys have helped me a lot. I've worked everything out and now i've got to reinstalling android on it, AOSP's 5.1.1 Lollipop. It's beautiful. There's just one problem: Since it came with no apps at all, I wanted to install everything on it again. Problem is, when I go to google play, it shows that i've already got my apps installed, so it wont let me download them, and it doesn't matter if I place the APK's inside the tablet as there's no manager to open them. Even if I download apk's through the tablet's own web browser, it says it can't open the file. Any ideas on this?

Galaxy Tab S6 Lite Has a Full 8GB storage after failing to install TWRP. Help!

I have tried following these threads to root my tablet but after a ton of failed attemps and a number of flashes back to stock my computer shows that my hard drive on my tablet is down to only 8GB and that is full. I'm sure if I could get twrp to work I could repartition and wipe the whole thing but I am completely out of doing it on my own now and need help.
Did stumble over the same problem while trying to root myself a few days back.... I don't remember 100% what I did to get it back to normal but I think it was just a normal factory reset from within android itself.
^This worked for me as well, simply doing a factory reset. And mega thanks to Jaine cause their post helped me heh.
Hi. Anyone can to tell me how to install TWRP correct? Where find it ? I am P615. Please help i want to install custom rom.
