I only have around 800mb of spare ram where I used to have over a gig of spare ram.
I haven't checked it in a while so maybe on if the system updates if using up more.
The only extra thing I have running from stock really is swift keyboard...
How much do you guys have?

Unused ram is ram wasted. Android optimizes the ram consumption as and when required so that there isn't any lag. Don't worry about it!

Don't worry the games will be fine, Android will free up resources for processes that require it. And the status bar task manager(HTC) and settings show different amounts of RAM. In settings the value is significantly higher, seems a lot of apps are cached in RAM. Anyway you can still play those games and not worry.

Are you referring to internal memory or actual ram? If ram the sensation has qhd making sense use more ram. You can use supercharger v6 to change minfree values for more ram. And if you really mean internal mem, you can uninstall some apps or clear caches. Dhd and sensation have same amount of storage allocated to data partition.

On a completely clean install with noa pps installed you'll only get 250MB free RAM - you'll never see 450MB free with a Sense-based ROM. End of
It's not necessary. If the game needs more memory, Android will free up the memory for it when the game is running. Keeping 450MB memory free all the time is highly inefficient use of the available memory. That basically means that 450MB memory is kept from being used. People really should stop obsess with large "free memory" number on Android.

Ok thank you very much, this is what i wanted to know,
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA Premium App
well you might not get exactly 450mb free.
but i think in the developers forum, there is a custom rom you can port to your rooted phone that doesnt include the HTC sense and some apps to free up some space for you.
You deff won't get 450mb free even with an asop rom.
Like everyone else said, android does a pretty good job at memory management and clear memory when apps need more.
A lot of RAM is reserved for HW drivers first, then Android reserves some, an some processes are cached and then there's your free RAM which is less 300MB>Senny, but I use Supercharger MOD and get avg of 200MB on homescreen(w/ a lot widgets).
I want to buy anew optimus but I want to know one thing.
How many MBs is the user available RAM?
And how many free MBs in RAM during average use and how many after task killing?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
With GB, 76MB Free without killing tasks and 200 MB free with killing tasks with ES Task Manager Widget. But I have not encountered any ram issues with GB, phone is always smooth and fast.
Thanks..and what's all available for use?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
76mB without killing tasks, 200mB with killing tasks.
Optimus has 512 MB ram, Android see about 450MB.
For user, with good ROM and tweaks, lasts about 150-200MB,usually not less then 100MB.

Isn't there anyone installed ram expander or swapper apps to increase the size of physical ram?
The total ram is only 768 mb, so the remained after flashing the recent PAC rom is usually less than 200 mb.
This insufficient ram always requires "kill apps" before start new apps.
It seems that "ram expander" or "swapper2" can resolve this problem, but I can't be sure about these apps whether they are stable / effective.
Let android do its thing man.

Don't use crappy apps like that android intentionally fills ram. Its doing what it's supposed to.

I can't wait for a CM rom to come for this rom. There's so much junk on this rom I have so much unnecessary stuff running in the background. So 3gig ram and 2.8 is constantly used up. WTF. Battery doesn't even last more than a day. Metadata doesn't work. Friggin annoying.

You'd prefer to have 1GB free ram and lags?
Err there shouldn't be 2.9GB constantly used up... mine uses about 1.3GB avg most of the time less, I'd look into why you're running so much all the time, cause that's not right.
More ram used = faster response for the apps in ram. So if more ram is used means the os is doing its job.

138 apps, 2gb RAM in use, still fast as hell (Nova Launcher). You Do know that RAM Management on Android is not comparable with RAM Management on windows, right?
Please search before creating a new thread.

I think it is normal ram usage for apps until the find out m8 uses only 1/10 it.You can see in screenshot what i want to say.For example whatsapp is using 122 mb ram for m8 same app is using 40 mb ram.I do not understand this.Ok touchwiz is using less ram but why the other applications usage is so high. The other example is spotify .(174 mb) Also greenify using 62 mb ram but for m8 it is only consuming 5 mb ram.
I am using audax 22.3 lollipop with civz kernel.I removed or frozen apps that i do not use and greenified some of them.
Maybe the problem for battery is this situation.Kitkat's ram management was better.
'Ang about, you are running a non-Samsung rom and you blame the memory usage in the device and not the ROM?

God I hate that "cookie something" font so how come the ram usage of third party apps are different on stock vs. unofficial roms?
