Hi,
This is Sreehari. I have been sing Gionee Elife E3 from October last year. First 3-4 months it worked without any problem.. But after that, it started to have frequently signal strength problems..
Frequently the signal bars goes from full to cross very fast. I cannot make a call at that time, but if I put the same SIM in another phone there is no problem. Even rebooting the phone doesn't solve the issue. many of my friends started to say that it is impoosible to get me on the phone most of the time..
Then I gave it to the service center and they flashed it.. It worked well from that point for around 2 weeks, then the problems started again.. after that I started flashing it on my own.. I installed the Chinese firmware to install custom ROMs (for Indian firmware custom ROMs were not available till recently) to see how it goes.. I tried the ColorOS over the Chinese firmware and things felt alright for around 2 weeks again.. now the problems started again and more severe than ever.. the phone is practically useless now that it cannot be relied at all..
I completely annoyed and puzzled by these.. if it is a firmware problem how does it go away after flashing and return after sometime? Could it be a problem with the radio/modem software?
I love this phone, it is awesome model and I don't want to leave it.. can anyone help me? I am not an Android developer but I do have some knowledge on flashing, recovery, backups etc. I can post any screenshot or logs as needed.
PS: I have a doubt on its wi-fi range as well since that also seems to drop very fast, not completely sure though..
Sreehari
Since we do not have a forum for this device, may I suggest posing in Android General so that one of the expert may help you ?

hey everyone,
i just updates my desire s with a new rom (not mentioning the name) and my phone is acting kinda crazy... as in the calls are not getting connected properly and half the time people complain they arent able to contact me either... the problem is im not much familiar about this stuff... bt, have a feeling it might be the problem with the radio. i tried restoring to older backups. no difference and realised that the radio doesnt get backed up.
i need help... does anyone know what to do about this...???
thank you in advance...

Relax.
And stop with the sad smileys...
The radio is not affected by a ROM flash, it is on a separate partition and you don't have to fiddle around with it if the problem has presented itself only after flashing a new ROM and was working alright previously.
Also, there is no disgrace in mentioning the ROM name, so please do tell us the following details:
Are you Revolutionary S-off or did you unlock using HTC Dev site?
What ROM are you currently using? Is this the first ROM you have flashed, coming from the stock one, or have you tried out other custom ROMs before this?
Let us know the answers to the above questions and we'll try our best to help.
Yeah, please tell us the name of the ROM, we'll be able to give you better help. Some AOSP ROMs (Oxygen, BlackICE) have calling issues. Also, as enimaamit said, a ROM does not change the Radio, it needs to be flashed separately (something i don't recommend you do). The problem is probably in the ROM

Yup. And thanks for that additional bit of info about Oxygen and BlackIce.
And another possibility is that this could be his first custom ROM (based on an official Sense ROM), and he might be coming from a stock ROM which he just unlocked using HTC Dev, so the kernel could still be stock... (if he didn't flash boot.img separately), and this might be allowing him to boot, but causing other issues like the one he just described.... I have an uncanny feeling that might be it!
I don't know, just letting loose the Sherlock inside
well, this wasnt my first custom rom... i have flashed from stock rom->cm nightly builds->oxygen->icecream sandwich 4.0 alpha builds to the current wp 7.0.4 rom by mmmcfc... i used to use his previous version-wp7.0.2 which was awesome and gave me no problems but, ever since i updated it, i have been having this problem. i tried flashing back to other roms as well and still kinda the same issue. and im on revolutionary s-off...
hope these answers are helpful... thanks for the reply guys...
EDIT: also, i used to have similar issues when i was in the stock rom at the very beginning which got solved later when i recieved an official update...i.e. before i s-off'd my phone...

He He He... guess i'm not much of a sleuth then!!
Are you sure the call drop issue is not a network provider problem {since it is happening on other ROMs as well, and it wasn't there before (your radio has been the same all along BTW)}
Have you tried putting your SIM in a basic phone and trying out whether the problem persists....this could indicate a network problem. I remember a few months ago Airtel service had gone to the dogs and everyone on Airtel (especially in Delhi) was writhing in agony...
Secondly, try using another carrier's SIM card in your DS and see if the problem still persists...
sry...i think u got me wrong der... i used to face the same problem on stock rom while i purchased the phone but, after updating it,it was pretty much and i never faced any problems until now. and i dont think its the carriers problem as im able to use the same sim card on a basic phone without any issues... and other users on the same carrier around me aint facing any problems with the network either... so, i guess im pretty much stuck and back to square one... :S
Hi all,
I have installed cm10.1 on my atrix 2 as third system. It is a pretty cool rom though there are few bugs to sort out. But wifi works on this Rom according to the developer, unfortunately wifi does not work on my phone.
I tried many settings including static ip, all I get is "wifi not in range". If any of you guys know a solution to this problem pls help me out. I hate to switch back to moto stock rom, it sucks .

Factory reset then reflash..install gapps. If that wont work then its something wrong with ur fone or router. It works descent on my fone. I get connection. I lose connection every once in a while but it works good enough for me.

Hi atrix2man,
I am trying to share my wifi connection on my laptop, it works with moto stock rom but does not work with cm10.1. Is there any particular settings needed to achieve this.

This is a known bug. Next time read the thread in development section, before creating a new thread, it would have answered all your questions, I know it is a lot to read, but such is the price of playing with ROMs.

Hi Jim,
I thought the second update fixed these issues; BT, Camera and wifi. So wifi fix is not included in the second update, my bad .
Can I ask you another question?
I created a 3rd system using BMM 0.3.2 and flashed CM10.1 and I took and backup of the 1st system, but the backup size is around 2GB, this is including the 3rd system. Now if I fxz and restore the 1st system will this restore 3rd system as well.
Hi, im a newbie on this forum so im sorry if im making any mistake. I have xperia sola from September 2012. it was
working well untill almost a year back. Check this
I'm having same problem since then , maybe because of overcharging or maybe because I had some battery
monitoring apps installed. so from a year or so my phone cant stay up for more than 10mins and im living through
it, at first i had no idea how to fix it but when i checked sony forum i got to know it can be repaired by SUS/SOny
pc companion. I know all the steps about installing ics because i have done it by myself after buying this
phone.but now i cant because i have slow internet it will take forever to download it and there is no Sony service
center in my city. I searched about cyanogenmod and I really feel like trying it on my phone but im scared
because I haven't played with the ROM thing ever so i may brick the phone and then blame the developers. I can
download all the files required for cyanogenmod overnight on my phone and transfer them to laptop and do the
further steps. but the problem is , what if my phone turns off during installation process? will it get bricked? and
will it even solve the battery issue?
ok i cant post links over here i was just posting sony forum's thread.my phone's battery has problems it drops
from 100% to 0% from 90% to 0% , just at any point, i cant use my phone without charger being plugged in
Sir, you can check this for CM for XSola(the one by munjeni is bit old. Use the new one by XperiaSTE team)- [ROM] [UB] [XperiaSTE] CyanogenMod 11 and it won't hardbrick during flashing this, though if in anycase it turns off, the kernel supports offline charging Rest can be seen there.
Advice: Flash only after fully charging battery. Also I'll recommend you to try battery from some other phone. Also check these threads-

Cheers,
AJ
You may also want to try if there's a wakelock problem, or try doing a factory reset just in case an app is eating you battery?
PS this is in addition to my reply to your other post

Oh sorry, maam Btw sir Abhinav2 should know more than I do.. I'm not really that sure if trying a new rom would help or not... Anyways don't be afraid to root. It's the first step to freedom! and a more productive time in xda
hi i have a S2- I9100T and i tried to flash cyanogenmod 12.1 but while attempting, it failed to do it and got stuck on the screen. so i removed the battery and now it constantly boots to the recovery. . i tried a version compatible to S2- I9100 which is not the same model as mine but i read somewhere that it could work.
You will probably have to revert back to stock and try again, next time, follow the actual tutorial for your device. If not you could well run into a problem like this one. As a general rule, if you do your reading and you still have a problem, someone has had that problem before and so you can probably find your answer through more reading. I have have friends who use XDA every day and don't even have an account because most real problems are discussed.
Make sure when you post this that you are on the correct forum, you would be likely to receive more help in the S2 forums, and make sure you have your device model and the Rom you flashed in the post so they can provide more assistance.

Hello guys, freshman on XDA forums here, been a long time lurker for phone modding. I have a problem
I have a Lenovo A536 obtained from the Philippines' Globe telecommunications service thanks to their promo. I got fed up with its KitKat UI that doesn't feel like Android at all.
I obtained a late 2015 version of CyanogenMod 12.1 designed for the A536, had my phone flashed with TWRP, wiped all the data, installed the ROM and wiped the dalvik cache. It started up well, and I already got good first impressions of the UI, except that my Globe Prepaid SIM card is not being detected at all. I tested on other phones from my parents and they all detect it. I've done almost a day's worth of research and led to the conclusion that the firmware for my Mediatek MT6582M has probably been wiped.
I could not search online for any flashable modem/radio firmware, yet alone the firmware itself. Any kind soul out there care to create a flashable modem firmware for me so I can start communicating again on my phone, or lead me to a site that contains a database of flashable MT6582M firmwares?
Thanks in advance,
Kensta
P.S. Saw a 2016 build by ~cyandrew. Will try that one and see. Will keep you updated.
UPDATE: Even on his port (thanks, I still like it), there's no bueno and SIM is still not being detected.

Bump. Went way back in the lower parts of the forums.
I am assuming no one here has a Lenovo A536 non-modded?
Hi,
Try posting your question here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/cynogenmod-12-1-lenovo-a536-lollipop-t3287025
The experts there may be able to help.
Good luck!
You can lock this thread. By the time you replied, I managed to fix this problem by using Root Explorer to head into root/data, deleting the 'nvram' folder and performing a normal reboot. Thanks anyways.
