[ROM+KERNEL][FLO][CM/AOKP][4.4.4]Exodus - 2014-07-27 - STABLE-2[7/27/14] - Nexus 7 (2013) Android Development

Exodus is the successor of my last CM/AOKP hybrid Genesis. I started with a CM11 base, removed some un-needed crap, ported ROM Control(that showed I'm more rusty than i thought), then slightly modified CM's kernel. With all of my projects, they start small compared to other projects, but in time it will grow. THEY ALWAYS GROW!! I'll try to release a new build every 7-10 days while I add features and remove un-stability. I also want to see how you guys like it. Also, bear in mind that I'm still shaking off a 2 year rust, and I'm trying to get rid of that "Retired" in my title. So, let's get this out of the way:
I WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED BEFORE, DURING, OR AFTER FLASHING THIS. YOU ASSUME ALL RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED. PLEASE READ, MAKE BACKUPS, READ SOME MORE, VERIFY YOUR BACKUPS, AND FLASH CAREFULLY!!!

I prefer the normal GApps package that CM or Goo.im hosts, but to each his own.

Stable Build 1 is up.....for those who care.

I'll give this a shot with the normal gapps. I tried PA and had some sign in issues.
Thank you

When it first booted up I had to sign into my wi-fi twice and my google account three times. For the google account account I had to sign in two times before it went to the next screen. Then it asked for my google account and password again. All my google apps gave me fits also. G+, Hangouts, GMail, and Play Store.

Thanks to ktoonsez for the cpu and gpu tables. That makes life easier as a good starting point.

Ill leave that to the full time kernel devs this is just supposed to be simple, fast, clean.

Technically they are equally updated. They were both synced since the last sicnificant merge.... the difference is the picks and what we are working on. ... I know that doesn't answer your question but you need to pay attention to what extras we say are in the build and choose which you prefer.... its the benefit and curse of having more than one of us working on this device. . BTW I should have something new tonight or tomorrow lol.

As of right now dpi. i believe xoomdev is working on making it an option though...

A ROM that we want it to be. Smooth. Creative. Feature full. Without those in the credits in the box, i guess, you won't see this ROM being a combo.
What is Xylon?
A Generally based of many kinds of features around the Android Development and fits into minimal customization. It may act up like AOKP, but totally not at all. Overall, we're still in work in progress state of changing the base to slightly minimal like FNV before. This ROM is built off with GCC 4.7, O3, Linaro Strings enabled. (Galaxy Nexus Kernel, fusion with anarkia's horn, O3 and Linaro GCC 4.7.3 enabled.). Feature list will be available in the 2nd post. Changelogs. We don't usually write up but we will starting builds of 2.2.
P.S.S **** off fanboys. We're doing this for fun.

Glad you got it going. I had same issue. Should be all set on new nightly. Thanks for the support.
fantastic build, stable and smooth.
Thank you for very nice ROM!
Found one issue - I can not set Ring shortcut as there is no possibility to chose anything in navigation ring settings.
The second issue is to be confirmed as I noticed problem after much settings done but I suppose that it happens when I change Navigation bar Height in Hybrid settings - I have the bottom of screen (buttons in apps, launcher - everywhere) hided under navigation and status bar and I have not find how to fix it even after I canceled more or less all changes I made in IU settings with Hybrid system. Have to flash ROM from the scratch
The ROM seems to drop some audio bytes when performance is needed. Most of the time when changing screens or app startups. It is not terrible but noticeable
I feel like this rom run hotter and drains the battery more than the original rom

I would try a different kernel if I was you. Something a little less heavy. I have another nightly. Just waiting for tester feedback.
Hi, can you PM me the link of the nightly even before you receive the feedback from your tester? I've just tested another rom, don't like it, and going back to my nandroid of this rom, thus would be great if I can start off with your new update.
I've not played with another kernel, so what's your recommendation?

This well established Android distribution treats development differently than any other to further our Android platform as a whole. This is the fastest source built ROM you will find on this forum, and also the only one to utilize our unique build system and a custom LLVM 3.5 suite based toolchain globally.
Here is our very well supported Issue Tracker.
We utilize a plethora of unique optimizations in a build system unlike any other:
Utilizing the LLVM CLANG CI globally, working heavily with upstreams with a goal of furthering our entire Android platform.
Consistently updated upstream toolchain module source with our custom backports, fixes, and optimizations applied in a patch at build time.
Fully built utilizing Link Time Optimization and Polly optimizations (another custom ROM first). Feel free to google these a bit.
Much of our source have code fixes, cleanups, and many minor optimizations to set us even further ahead of the community. These are too generous to even speak of here.
Optimizations are toggled on and off based on device for the best experience we can achieve for your device without sacrificing stability
Many Qcom optimizations and AOSP master (upstream) optimizations and fixes using device specifications to determine usage.
Fully built utilizing strict aliasing and isognu++11 mode.
Utilizing all O4 optimizations (Optimization Level 4) including LTO (with binutils plugins), and additionally LLVM Polly.
Of course we also have several neat UI features, including but not limited to:
T-Mobile Theme Engine.
DPI Wizard (no junk like build.prop tweaks).
Quick Settings panel customizations.
Live network stats in your statusbar.
Button backlight customizations.
Hardware button customizations.
Volume button customizations.
Many more being added during the nightly builds.

Requires the newer firmware like cm. Not 100% up on which hboot s there are for ville. Just don't use the newest one the messes up sdcard.

That is YES, it requires 2.15 or below, it is not for 2.16
Having fun with codefire so far. Created a custom kernel off of codefire kernel sources and it's running well. Not too many features yet. But I will post it if people are interested.
There are a few feature requests I have. In cm you can normally add sound/vibrate/mute toggle to quick settings as well as flashlight... maybe these don't exist yet in the base? Also I don't see advanced reboot menu in dev options...

Right now its hiding under settings/buttons. I may be missing the overlay for flashlight but I'll have to check on the other tiles.

Under settings/buttons I only see options for the Home Button and Recents Button, not the Back Button... And there is no kill app on the other buttons at the moment.
EDIT:
But I did just notice the Power menu under the settings/buttons, which allows for advanced reboot, screenshot, etc, etc. Cool!
Edit2: now I'm looking for locksreen customizing... Can't seem to find it
SU?
Anyone have a working su zip to install? The one posted with the ROM seem to only install the SuperSU apk and not the su binary,
Nevermind, problem was custom kernel flashing prior to su install. FYI, updated su zip available from chainfire
How tightly is this synced with upstream cm? There are still a bunch of device related fixes I see coming down the pipe and id like to stay on top of them, but I really enjoy the idea that this was built with a performance centric toolchain.
I have a question, concerning the nightlies - it's just to be sure. For each device there is under "last changes" always "no changes since last build".. Is this reliable, cause if there are no changes, it does not make to much sense for me, to flash the same Rom again and again.
We'll I'm sure they sync with upstream cm every day

No its not acurate...Jenkins just hasn't been set up to display the changelogs(some thing for our leader to look into though). I maintain all 4 of our 8960 devices (ville, jewel,Evita, and fireball) and keep a good eye on CM and others for device specific changes that I can incorporate. May not be daily but I don't like to be behind
Today's builds should have fixes for most of the app related issues that have been reported thus far. Only exception is the FC that was reported with email app. That should be fixed in tomorrows builds.

Yesterday I downloaded and flashed latest nightly but to be honest CM is far more smoother than this. there was lags and spikes during transitions. is this a known issue or am I missing something?
Your missing something. Buttery smooth for me

Question... Do any of the codefire optimizations, etc, effect the launcher that comes with the ROM? I say that bc I wonder if I will loose something by using google experience launcher and flashing another gApps with that included.

Built in launcher is built to our level but you won't notice much difference between em performance wise. I've run gapps with GEL.

Screenshots?
Actually I use this Rom as my daily driver. It's very nice and smooth and I have no big problems. But there are some bugs:
- com.android.phone FC, when I try to open the APN settings.
- android.process.media FC, when I try to open the Downloads-app.
- dolphin browser sometimes FC
- ART does not work properly - many apps FC.
- Maybe more.
Apart from that, as I said, it's an amazing Rom. Keep up the good job.

As always, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device due to custom rom / kernel flashing & other lovely things that you do with it
It is expected of you to know what you are doing.
We intend this to be a friendly, learning thread.
Requests, Suggestions & feedback are always welcome.
Team Twisted would like to bring to you - Twisted Android Project
This has been a serious learning experience for all of us involved as well as a super fun trip
We totally enjoyed making this, and hope you like it as well.
We would first and foremost like to Thank all our friends., There are many, many devs here on XDA who have been patient with us and have always been there to lend a helping hand. It would be impossible to name all of you, but if we have spoken to you even once, we are deeply grateful for what you have done.
Something that may seem very simple to one person, would have probably helped us get out of a hole that we were stuck in for days [emoji14]
Help has been invaluable, we will not forget it!
Special thanks to our awesome Testers.Their constant support on a minute to minute basis has been incredible and invaluable There have been days of flashing 12-15 different builds in a session, and all of you have been so helpful, patient, and so much fun to be around, it made doing this a huge pleasure. Unknown usernames online have become good friends, and this is by far the best outcome of this project.
Thanks to all the folks over at the Slim Builder’s Collective, where all of this began
We would like to note that we do not take credit for any of the code for any of the features we have included. All thanks goes to the super awesome, and highly talented devs and teams. We have tried as far as possible to maintain credits in our GIT commit pages, but if in any instance during conflict resolution, or when we commit using SmartGit, the original author’s name has been obfuscated, please accept our apologies, do bring it to our attention, we will correct the oversight immediately. We are extremely thankful to all the coders out there who put out amazing new features, patches and updates that makes the Android experience a lot more brilliant…
This is our small contribution back to the community that taught us everything :good:
Thanks to SlimRoms, CM, OptiPop, Layers Team & many of the other open source projects out there.

Factory Reset
Full wdata, wipe: system, cache, dalvik cache.
Flash the Twisted build.
Flash gapps
DO NOT Flash latest SuperSU
Coming from previous Twisted build:
Flash the Twisted build.
No need to wipe dalvik-cache.
Layers Backup app in twisted apps allows you to retain the set layers after a dirty flash. We recognise the fact that there is a similar feature within Layers Manager, however there is a major difference.
You set all the layers you want, click on the backup & let it do it’s work. After you do a dirty flash, the ROM boots with your layers pre-installed. No need of a reboot.
If you are facing issues with the power button not responding, got to Display, check ‘Prevent accidental wake up’. Then switch it off again. Reboot.
Flashing SuperSU during ROM flash may result in losing Advanced Power Menu
No reason for xposed not to work on twisted. But if any issues, we may not be able to support them

This is my personal ROM based on Paranoid Android. It's still in early stages so features that i plan to include and optimizations are not fully implemented. With that being said, It is more then stable enough for a daily driver. You can think of it as an optimized AOSPA for now.
Differences between official Paranoid android are:
-different name (duh)
-Built with UBER toolchain
-My own custom kernel
-GPU overclock
-Intelliplug
-Simple GPU algorithm
-3.4.108
-fiops, zen, bfq, vr, sio Schedulers
-various optimizations
-V4A built in
-other smaller optimizations to improve performance such as disabled various debuggers
-Removed Bloat wallpapers and stuff
-Removed ParanoidOTA
-Disabled high volume warning
-Nova Launcher
-apollo
-Adaway

Flashed it. Stock feel with some features like AD, Gestures. No extra features(Mentioned by OP already willbe added in later versions).
Found this bug under settings>Buttons. Its completely empty. Will wait for next version with features added. BTW App ops is better than Privacy guard. Hope its not replaced.:fingers-crossed:
PS : Can I flash this kernel on Carbon ROM using Mfastboot, Kernel seems to be fast and battery effecient.

You could've just use the AOSP source and make your rom from the bones. But okay, any development is good development. My advice: be original. keep up the good work!

I just wanted to know one thing,
Does this have that audio scratching bug caused by CM Audio FX, most ROMs have?
And if it does, can it be fixed by flashing Viper Audio?
