HTC Mail app equivalent - Verizon HTC One (M8)

I have an M8 and a Nexus 7, I was able to successfully link my work exchange email to the M8 using the stock HTC app but I can not get the Aosp email app on the N7 to link to it. Is there a standalone app similar to the HTC app that I can install on the N7? The only difference between the 2 that I could see was that the HTC app allowed me to set the Domain but the Google app doesn't have that setting.

Just put the domain in front of your username in the username field seperated by a '\'
Example:
[email protected]
with domain:
MyDomain\[email protected]

You would think in the hour I was on the phone with our ”Help Desk" they would have been to offer that jewel of wisdom. Thanks dude, worked perfectly. I've never bothered to set it up before now because I was in the office at some point everyday, now I don't see the office for weeks at a time.

No problem glad you got it working ?

Exchange GAL (Global Address List) Issue

I seem not to be able to search my global employee address list from my work email. I previously had a Captivate and didn't have this issue with my work account. I've seen in the Desire HD section that this was an issue early last year but it seems to have been fixed with an HTC update. Is anyone else having this issue with Exchange and HTC Mail?
My work email is using Exchange Server 2003 SP2.

Mine works fine. It does work different then the captivate though. The captivate used to search automatically when you type in a name. On the Htc you need to click the contact button when composing, type in the name, and then click search your company directory. Have you tried that?

Super! Thanks... I tried something like that earlier but the area I was in had terrible service. Just tried on my lunch break and it worked like a charm.

Thank you! I knew GAL worked when I first tried it. I thought I remembered some prompt as you state above. I thought I was going crazy...works every time . I am just used to typing in the address field with previous phones...

Any way to see 4 gmail accounts in 1 inbox?

I see there are apps like K9 but ideally I'd not want to have to re-setup my accounts, but I don't see a way to see all 4 gmail accounts in one box. If I set them up in the Mail app the delivery is delayed but the gmail app is near instant but it drives me nuts not being able to see all email in one box.
Thanks!
In K-9 setting, make your default view as unified folder.
THis way it will show you all emails from all account.

Oh I said aside from K9 so I don't have to type all my accounts hee hee
Ideally want to keep the stock gmail but guessing that isn't possible eh?
You could foward your accounts to just one.

Not the ideal solution, especially for replies.
Any update to this one? I'd prefer 1 email box instead of 4.

That's not one inbox it then separates them into 4. I want a single unified inbox.
Oh. Then k9 is your best bet.

No good for me :-(
I'm using the stock ROM and email app and it gives a choice of seeing email from all accounts on one screen. On the side it has a colored bar that shows what account the email is from. Not sure if that's what you mean.

Yeah that's the built in mail app, designed for non-gmail. To use gmails' true push functionality, one has to use the gmail client. Unlike Mail app, it allows you to add as many as you want but you have to view each separately. :-(
Guess what. If you set up your gmail as an exchange account you can get true push. Just use set up manually and use m.google.com as the server.

You're going to have to give me more detail than that
It wants the email, which I have my own domain I use through Google Apps, which for all intensive purposes is the same as google, it's just @mydomain instead of gmail.com, but all the servers are the same...
The issue is it wants a server, which the m.google.com doesn't fly with setting it up, then it wants a domain, and if I enter gmail.com or my domain it doesn't work.
I just set mine up as a test. Check requires encryption. Server is m.Google.com I left domain blank. Worked fine.

OMG You're a GENIUS (Again!). I was trying m.gmail.com and that's why it wasn't working. I changed to m.google.com and it works great as an exchange server. Thank you so much!
Seems a lot better than having to look at one box at a time in the Gmail app

[Q] Replace htc email app with standard android version?

The email app installed on the HTC One S is horrible compared to the standard android app when using it for activesync/exchange.
It doesn't display email properly and doesn't have message advance and back icons. You have to open the menu to get to them.
Does anyone know of a way to replace it?
You could just install a different email app. I hear good things about K-9 Mail (have not tried personally).
I actually think the standard android email app is pretty bad for Exchange, since its meeting invites do not show time or place directly.
I've used k-9 for imap connections, but it won't do an activesync connection to sync my contacts and calendar, unless there's a new version that does that.
I switched back to "Enhanced Email".
I couldn't find a way to change the ringtone in the one that came with the phone.
I also didn't like that you couldn't move back and forth through the messages like mentioned above.
I see Enhanced Email is $9.99 in Google Play.
I got it for free when it was the app of the day for Amazon.
I didn't know there were any alternatives other than Touchdown.
I'll give it a try.
Thanks.
I fully agree with you.
I already complained a month ago to htc for the lack of html support for example.
They escalated it to their technical support with no answer yet.

What are you talking about? HTC email app has the html support. Its like basic feature!
At least my exchange server, the original ics one showed html while the htc one option is grayed out and not working.

I have three different activesync acounts on my htc one, and none of them display hmtl.
Also, the attachment don't display from the mail client. You have to download them and open them directly from a viewer app.
Weird. It works on my exchange activesync account. See attached.
Attachments work fine too.

I don't think so. Whatever the exchange server version is, html should always be supported. Did you say it worked on other android phones?

When I had my Desire, I installed one of the ICS beta version (AOSP) and on that native ICS email client with the same exchange server, html support worked great.

Its definitely a bug in your email app since it works for me and other android phones. I would suggest removing the account and adding back if you havent tried that already. I would also factory reset and see if it fixes. if nothing, the only option is to get a replacement.

Thanks for the Info and efforts.
I did several factory resets with no change.
I also already had the firmware updated with no change.
I asked htc support about that and they escalated it still with no answer for more than a month.
Yet, when I enter an account which is not my exchange server like Gmail and such, I do get html support. That's why I figured the issue is related top my exchange server version...

Just out of curiosity, what is the version of the Mail app on your phone? Maybe this is not an issue in all T-Mobile US phones because of different version.

Don't think so, gmail doesn't seem to be very integrated into htc sense.
You can forgo the gmail app and add your gmail account as exchange account to the default email app.

I don't know if it's better or whatever, but I am using clean rom Dev edition and the AOSP email app so I can pinch to zoom I've read arguments that polling email this way uses less battery, but who knows. The only reason I remember the trick is because it was the only way to get push email from Gmail on my iPhone
I would also love gmail to be recognized as an email app.

I think Aqua Mail is the one to go for. I use it for my gmail and outlook accounts. You can even download Development builds on their forum. It has a pleasant interface and a lot of options.
i just use the gmail app , no complaints here. Guess it all depends on what you want in the app.

MAIL
cheers guys ill go through them and c which is the one for me..
Cloudmagic (free and perfect for exchange accounts, but a little "dangerous" about privacy) or Aquamail (very good but free version is limited to 2 accounts and adds app infos in each outgoing mail sign and paid version is expensive for me, about 4 euros).
AquaMail but has no threaded messaging, some like that feature, I don't.
SolMail is good too.
Mailwise too.

Have you ever tried MailWise Beta? It allows you to bypass the exchange security lock if that is something you are interested in or if you company policy enforces that. I think it has a nice interface as well. I guess it all depends on user preference.
I'm still stuck with samsung email for my exchange account n I think it's a pretty decent one.. I've tried Aqua and K9 but didn't really like the user interface of both

I am running an Xposed module that allows me to turn it off. I am also using Wanam Xposed that has the option in it as well.
Edit:
If that doesn't work for you, you could always try MailWise Beta. They have an option to turn that off as well with a code. Download the app, before setting up your account, open the app, hit the menu button, click on exchange bypass and follow the instructions.
