[TIP] Create any dock shortcut - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So.
I spent about two hours trying to figure out how to create my own, personalized keyboard shortcuts. Specifically I was looking for a shortcut that would allow me to open a compose message box for mighty text. I looked in to tasker and everything such.
FINALLY, I found something. An app called Anycut allows you to access and run activities. Specifically, one activity is important. It's a settings activity called Quick Launch. Looking at the various settings activity, you may find two activities called quick launch. Use the first one. After opening it, you should see an app that looks something like this.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
When you run this app, simply select a line and it will allow you to create add a shortcut. You can override old shortcuts as well. In the top right menu button, you can also select to create shortcuts for activities.
It's supposed to work for stock and I know it works for aosp. Works on PACman for me anyway.
I think it's pretty useful and hopefully this will help someone if they have trouble finding out how to create personal shortcuts as well.

Also, you can use any activity launcher to get this. I used Nova to create a new shortcut and then selected activities and that's how I gained access. It may also be a good idea to create a keyboard shortcut to the Quick launch activity. I made mine search + Q.

How can i change scrolling in programs/games folder

The OS is WM2003SE. At present when scrolling through Programs Folder or Games Folder using the D-pad the cursor moves left to right & will not go down or up until you reach the last program icon on each horizontal line.
Does anyone know a reg hack or program that will change the cursor to move up & down freely.
Hope you can understand what I mean ! quite simple issue really but not so simple to put into words.
Many thanks.
I don't this is really possible normally because of the way the listview is implemented in Programs. However, if you use VJSmallIcons II it will let you change the way the icons are displayed, and it might work then.

Yes your app will allow me to scroll through my programs using the "list view".
Thank you.
I'm sure I saw a reg hack to adjust the D-pad movement, have searched on here & with google.
Thank god for forums like this & trusty google, WM would be junk without 3rd party experts correcting annoying bugs/problems.
Well another problem I solved with MortScript.
Wrote a script that allows me to use button 1 & 2 to scroll through my program list just when Programs is active.
Not as good as the cursor movement in WM5 but damn close.
With a few tweaks 2003SE is as good as WM5 for stylus free use & has some other advantage too.

Vibrant Home Dock "ported"

Well, not ported as they already mostly worked, just fixed a couple of hiccups. Nothing very clever going on here, but may be of interest to some folks.
As per request in another thread, I've fixed the Desktop Home app for the Samsung Vibrant so that the one thing that doesn't seem to work properly, the "Alarm" button, is now ok.
You can grab the APK from:
http://db.tt/bFXrBWr
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I've also partially fixed the Vibrant Car Home app so that the icons are centered and the "Contacts" link works. The "Search" button doesn't seem to do anything and it seems to be hit & miss as to if you get a "Browser" icon or a "Voice Search" icon as pictured below. It may be a compatibility issue with the JME firmware I'm running, I'll have a play later. Anyway, you can grab the .APK from:
http://db.tt/qN07wwk
The app is incredibly no-frills, there's no other settings or options whatsoever other than what appears on the screen. I'd suggest using the Car Home v3 app from the market instead, although this one does look pretty.
The apps don't lock the screen on either so are probably not terribly useful without an actual dock.
If I can decipher the decompiled smali code some more, I'll replace the "Search" icon with a "Music" one. Changing the app an icon runs is easy, implementing it when it's not already doing something is less so.

[App]Dockat -- a dock support gesture

To access Google Now, just swipe up from the bottom of the screen.
So can this gesture do something special instead of Google Now?
Somthing like a Dock?
Yes! This is the DOCKAT!
Dockat is the most convenient and intuitive way to switch between applications and adjust system settings for Android 4.1 and up.
Whether you're in the browser, at a home screen, or anywhere else, you'll always be able to call up Dockat by swiping up from the bottom edge of the screen, which is exactly the same as launching Google Now.
You can make your own Dockat by adding the most frequently used and favourite apps just like Dock.app in OS X.
And there are more:
1. Music Controller
Display the information of the now-playing music with three function keys, Fast Forward / Rewind and Pause / Play.
2. Quick Settings
Easy access to the Setting Menu and a slider to adjust the brightness setting.
3. Full-screen gestures
Swipe down to expand the notification panel. Especially designed for large screen phones.

[Q] Application grouping/categorizing on homescreen

I really like Aviate Launcher's collection feature where you can add certain apps to certain categories. Like so:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Anyone know of an app that allows me to do something similar on my homepage?
I can use folders but that extra click to open the folder is something I dont want. Also, Aviate collections show multiple app icons (5) right away and a button to expand for more.
Any suggestions?

Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Everything.me is actually a lot like that in that it categorizes almost everything. Basically, as you build folders it figures out what "category" those apps fit into and starts including weblinks and app suggestions into the folders. It's pretty effective, but I'm not really a fan. Definitely excited to get my hands on a code for Aviate though...

signup for the aviate beta & they will send you an invite sometime
I'm using it now, pretty cool actually
At night it offers different options automatically
Great stuff!

Create an homescreen shortcut to start an intent specifying the user id (cloned app)

Hi,
I have a Pocophone F1 (not rooted) and I'm using Nova Launcher.
I cloned WhatsApp (using MIUI native functionality) and I want to be able to start the original app or the cloned one just in one click (so having two seperate shortcuts).
As I found on the internet, this could be done using the native launcher, which I don't want. With Nova Launcher, each time I click on the WhatsApp shortcut, it asks me which app I want to start.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I looked a bit in the logcat and I found that the intent is started with what's look like a user id :
u0 = original app
u999 = cloned app
I want to create two shortcuts, starting the WhatsApp intent with a specitif 'u' value.
Have someone an idea how to do that?
Best regards,
Maxime
Anyone?
Actually I don't think you can.
You should contact the developers, since they could change it / implement your idea.
The native launcher seems to support it already, your nova launcher doesn't.
That means: You can only achieve your goal if you use another app or if you change novas souce code (which is why you should ask the developers).
Did you try action blocks by google or shortcut maker from play store?
@User699 Thanks for your answer!
I reached the Nova Launcher support, but it looks like they can't add this feature, because they don't have access to the related API
