Fastboot Mode Issue - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dear All,
Please help me regarding fastboot. When I press 3 keys (vol-up, vol-down and power key) while phone is off. I see the black and white screen written boot modes. From there when I select AP Fastbood device is restart with red Motorola logo and end up on home screen.. I have tried several times to turn off the device and repeat this process but no issue still there..
Moreover, if I did not select any options from boot modes than device automatically rebooted after 3 or 4 seconds..
Please help me out.. I want to unlock the boot loader root and install custom ROM..
Currently Model Number is XT925 and device is completely stock.. never rooted before...
thanks and regards,

After you use the volume down key to highlight "Fastboot", do you then press the volume up key to select it? If you just sit there and wait it will reboot normally. You must press the volume up key after you've highlighted the menu option.

try this,
-install adb on your pc
-plug in phone when powered up
- open a command prompt in your adb dir
- type in: adb devices then enter. it should show your phone in the prompt. also check your phone, there may be a popup to acknowledge.
- rerun adb devices until it shows your phone properly or you cant proceed
-now type in: adb reboot bootloader
if it works, the phone should reboot to the fastboot screen.
if it doesnt stick in fastboot, im sorry but i dont know what else to tell you to try.

Thank-you for the Response

That's the entry to stock recovery. You have to push a combination of buttons from there to get into recovery. I forget the button combination, it has been posted many times, try searching or wait for someone else to jump in with the answer.

Not sure where to post this question been reading so many post my eyes are tired......
- XT926 upgraded to kitkat 183.46 last week via flash in RSD from JB 4.1.2
- Root went well DONE (Towel root .apk)
- Unlock went well DONE (Motopocalypse .apk) yes fastboot shows the #3
- Flashed TWRP 2.7.1 DONE (did it using the adb in motopocolypse)
- Backed up my current stock ROM in TWRP seemed to go well the program confirmed the backup was successful...So I thought
- Got confident and wanted to try flashing CM11 (Kitkat version)
- After flashing CM11 my phone got stuck at boot like many others have.... no problem I backed up my stock ROM in TWRP.....So I thought
- Went to restore my stock ROM using TWRP and yup you guessed it like many others the restore failed half way through
Not a big deal starting fresh can be a good thing BUT I really need my old text messages and all I have is a USB backup of the phone (Internal/SDcard) on my PC and of course the TWRP back-up on the SDcard that won’t restore ...... Is there any way to get these messages back to my phone????

Not sure how to help you with your immediate problem at hand, but going forward, I definitely recommend the sms backup + from the Google Play Store. Nice thing with that app is, you can link it to your gmail account, and all your text messages are backed up to your gmail.

[Q] Need help with forgotten pattern

Hi, my friend gave me his TF. His brother locked his device . Bot now, he doesn't remember his password, recovery doesn't work (Power, Vol Down, then UP - appears loading bar and next "dead" android.) Also I have tried to remove lock with ADB. I installed drivers, but ADB can't find the device (I'm not sure if he turned on USB Debugging). Finally, I used EasyFlasher. I downloaded stock FW, turned in APX mode, flasher gave me information "done" but it is still the same.
Any other solutions?
Thanks

You need to do a factory reset. Don't enter recovery, just hold VOL DOWN and POWER for 12-15 seconds. On the next screen navigate to WIPE DATA using the volume keys and confirm this.
It will wipe the data.
For future reference, if you had ADB enabled, you could have removed the lock without wiping data. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1800799

Need help with xoom, possible brick

First,
I really want to thank everyone for their support in this forum. Everyone has been amazing.
I was trying to bring my MZ601 back to stock yesterday. Something bad happened during fastboot and asked me if I wanted to unlock my device. Then the screen locked up and didnt do anything. I rebooted the device and now it gets stuck in a boot loop with the EOS symbol (last rom I installed). When I enter recovery there is nothing there, all of my data is gone.
Worse the device is not recognized on my computer nor can it be found in adb fastboot. I have updated motorola drivers, but I think the device never gets past a certain point in order to be found.
Can somebody please help me.
Thanks,
Pretty impossible to brick XOOM's but i'll ask the basics. Can you get into recovery from a cold boot? Can you get into fastboot from a cold boot?
By the sounds of it you've just corrupted your rom or tried to re-unlock the device which would cause the entire sdcard partition to be erased.
Boot XOOM into Recovery, Fastboot, or RSD mode
So you need to get into Recovery to backup your XOOM (you do nandroid don't you?). Or perhaps you were working on creating new levels of awesome and something happend and you find yourself staring at the Motorola Dual Core boot screen with your XOOM refusing to boot any further. Fear not, you are only a few clicks away from finding your way back into recovery or fastboot goodness.
Turn your XOOM off
Press Power to turn your XOOM back on
When the Motorola Dual Core boot screen appears tap Volume Down repeatedly until "Android Recovery" is displayed
Press Volume Up to enter Recovery
You can also choose from Fastboot protocol support and RSD mode by using the same method but instead selecting their respective menu prompts.
Note:
If your XOOM is caught in bootloops or you find yourself stuck in RSD mode or Fastboot Protocol support you can hardware reboot your XOOM by pressing and holding Volume Up + Power until the tablet reboots (usually a few seconds but could be longer).

Hi,
Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately, it seems that I have caused the entire sd card partition to be erased. That mean when I trry to fastboot my device is not recognized. Also, i cannot add anything to my xoom through usb. I have tried to flash through the external sd card, but to no avail. What do I have to do?
What does your xoom show up as when plugged into your pc APX? Can you boot into fastboot mode. with power off press power and volume down until you see fastboot.

Hi thanks for the reply to my message.
Unfortunately I cannot find my device when it is plugged into my computer (PC). It does not show up on my computer nor in the device manager. I can start the fastboot protocol on my device by rebooting, but I also cannot find my device in ADB.
Thanks for the reply, but I am still very stuck.
are you sure your device is in fastboot ? did you reinstall the drivers, try with another usb cable, adb shoud see the device after the drivers were installed correctly ...

I did everything I have done before. I have setup android sdk, java, and motorola drivers on two different PCs. Both fail to find my device when i type ADB devices nor does ADB reboot bootloader work. I tried the different cable, but that also did not work.
Hi,
I see that your problem is quite hard, try doing this:
1 - Force your tablet to shut down (vol+ + Power)
2 - Turn on while holding the vol- button
3 - Keep pressing vol-
4 - Plug on your PC and try fastboot devices, adb won't work!
5 - If 4 didn't work, keep trying until it does
6 - Install a Stock ROM (so you will solve your problems)
If the above don't work, contact me via PM, so we can talk easily (maybe GTalk or something like this). Good Luck

I took your advice and just used fastboot. Then I flashed the stock rom I wanted to use. My xoom is back up and running. I really appreciate the tip.
Also thank you to everyone that responded in the post, again, that is why I love coming here.

I have this problem now but I don't know what to do. Please help me out

Soft bricked device, can't unlock, need help.

I'm on Android 5.0.1. I changed my PIN screen lock of my xperia and 20 minutes later I forgot it out of lots of things happening at once. I try to guess it 120 times (5.0 doesn't have "Enter google password" after x tries) without any progress (I was still at school at this point). I tried to boot to recovery and wipe it, but because I had Cyanogenmod recovery it didn't work. (it doesn't work at all, when I try to wipe it, it just displays the Android and flashes a few times and that's it.). At home, I tried to use Android Device Manager to erase it, but it just rebooted into Android. I tried to unlock the screen with the lock feature, but it didn't work at all, nothing happened (if I put something in the text field it allowed me to call owner. Pressing back or home puts me back in the lock screen "swipe up to unlock" state. I tried reflashing it with flashtool, but I couldn't even connect my device through ADB, it only said
Code:
04/034/2015 18:34:13 - INFO - Device connected with USB debugging off
04/034/2015 18:34:13 - INFO - For 2011 devices line, be sure you are not in MTP mode
even though USB debugging was on, even the notification said so. ADB just doesn't find it at all. When I plug my device in my computer the window that pops up says "This folder is empty". Am I really screwed? I guess my only chance is to keep guessing the password... I don't remember the first number or how many numbers were in it... help?

Hi bro.
Download this file Here.
Extract it on your desktop.
Now this file will install the cwm recovery.
Open a command window in the folder you have extracted.
Type
fastboot flash boot boot.IMG
Now before pressing enter you just need to power off your phone connecting it to the computer while holding volume + key .
Now you can press enter.
After you flash the recovery boot to recovery and make a factory reset.
Note: after this process the WiFi may not work you just need to install this app http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-l/development/app-recoveries-recovery-installer-t3187915 and give root and install TWRP.
And don't worry windows won't show the internal or the external memory because your phone is locked it's kind of protecting your files .
Don't forget to hit thanks

windows 10 has a special 3rd party driver protection... you must disable it and install fastboot driver... AND you need a USB2.0 because 3.0 has known issues
Sent from my Xperia T using XDA Free mobile app
In Window 10 go to setting>update&security>Recovery>Advanced startup and restart pc >then choose troubleshoot>Advanced Option>Startup Setting and restart>and it will ask option choose Disable Driver signature enforcement and done......

Shield Tablet problems: ADB, Recovery Mode, Fastboot... = DEAD?

I can imagine that you all are tired of reading this headline, but seriously, ME TOO.
I have been looking for information about this issue during several weeks and I have not found any solution, so I would extremely thank you if you take your time reading this problem and trying to help me finding a solution.
Some months ago I tried to flash a ROM on my Shield Tablet, I followed all the steps from a topic in this forum: [Complete Guide] SHIELD Tablet K1 Root, Custom Rom and Xposed Framework but I wanted to try a different ROM: CARBON-CR-5.1-MOO-WEEKLY-shieldtablet-20170216-0454 (the name of the file) And now I have a tablet that is stuck on the Carbon launch screen every time I turn it on, when I press volumen down + power it goes into the screen buttt as soon as I press recovery mode the only thing it does is to restart itself and stays stuck in the NVIDIA screen. The Minimal ADB and Fastboot do not recognize the tablet with the adb devices command.
When I turn on the tablet (and stays stuck into the IOS icon as I mentioned before) and connect it to the PC the device manager recognize the tablet as a Portable device with the name: MTP USB device, when I press the power+volumen down the PC recognize the tablet as an Android Device -> Android Bootloader Interface. And this is all the information I have about my problem...
May you help me?
Thank you in advance. I hope your knowledge will help me and other people with the same problem. If you need more information of this problem let me know and I'll answer ASAP. If you have any idea tell me and I'll try it.

Your device is not, dead, it's only taking some time to reflect
First of all, I understood that you're able to access to the device's bootloader menu, through the button combo (black screen with white text, "continue","restart bootloader","recovery mode"), and you selected "recovery mode".
Now, unless you have flashed a custom recovery, there's nothing to do with the shield's stock recovery, so, just enter in the bootloader menu as you did, without selecting any option.
You are now in "fastboot mode", in order to check your device's connection you have to write in the adb shell
Code:
fastboot devices
If you see your device you can now boot a custom recovery that will help you to fix the problems you caused, I would follow this link: (copy-paste, can't post links)
"nvidiashieldzone.com/shield-tablet/shield-tablet-root/root-shield-tablet-v1-marshmallow/"
And do the 8th step, in "Root procedure"
Fastboot with TWRP
Type “fastboot devices” Copy and make sure your Shield Tablet is visible.
If your Shield Tablet is listed, type “fastboot boot twrp-20151227-EXPERIMENTAL-shieldtablet-m.img” Copy (or whatever you named it) and hit enter. If your TRWP image filename has a space in it, you may have issues.
After 15 seconds or so (be patient), you should see the TWRP Recovery screen. Note: This experimental version has some UI issues, just keep at it.
You may be prompted with something to do with the system being READ ONLY. Accept the default and swipe.

Use fastboot to wipe cache (fastboot erase cache) then try to flash TWRP (with fastboot) again. This will often clear up issues with being unable to boot to TWRP (at least on other devices).
If you are able to boot TWRP, restore the TWRP backup (if you made one) or put another ROM on the phone, and flash it.
I also have this kind of problem. After i update twrp by flashing it and restore a backup the sistem doesnt show. Stucks on nvidia logo. I tried even restore my recent backup but nothing also. Any idea ?

Redmi note 9 softbricked

Hello, i do not know where to post this but i really need help solving this issue.
I was installing twrp on my Redmi note 9 (merlin) and once the set up was done my phone rebooted to twrp, but it took time (a lot of time).
And i could not resist the urge of pressing the power button to restart it, problem is miui was not starting and it was stuck at the boot logo, i figured out it was a great idea to press the power button again, but it booted up on twrp, wich worked but the screen seem to be frozen and doesn't register any tap on the screen or anything, and now each time i press the power button no matter how, it either boots on my broken twrp recovery, or boots on my absolutely destroyed os.
PS: No matter how hard i try it seem to be impossible for me to access fastboot too...

I was able to get this issue fixed by :
1 Installing adb
2 Opening cmd inside adb folder
3 Entering "adb devices" while the device was connected
4 Then entering "adb reboot bootloader" while the device was still connected
5 Once the device was in bootloader mode i installed miFlash and downloaded this rom : mifirm.net/download/4163
5.1 If you have an error with the drivers, create a folder named log inside of the said miFlash folder
5.2 Also make sure that the path to the rom is not too long (i heard that miFlash had problems handeling long paths)
6 Once everything was set up i just hit flash and flashed the rom onto the phone
7. You're done ! You successfully repaired your phone and saved him from the depth of hell!
If you have any problems or need precision on certain points make sure to ask me in this thread so that other people can get help too.
i had flashed k20pros dtbo img file by mistake and my phone is not even turning on and no fastboot no recovery what to do please help!!!
