No, os. So you wiped the entire device? You'll have to use adb to put a rom on or side load it.

See rootSU's signature above. He has fine guides linked there. But how do you know you have no os if your data is intact? Do you have a rom zip on your device you can flash in twrp? I assume you don't have a nandroid or you would have tried that already.

i know because it tells me i dont. i can see my data in the twrp file manager.if i had a rom zip installed i wouldnt have posted this topic. thanks for your help

So then download a ROM and push it to your phone so you can then flash it via recovery.
Please try to keep your help requests limited to 1 thread. When you start cross posting , things can get messy

Are you wiping data when you flash the rom?
If you don't have any important stuff on your phone, I would just flash the factory images and start over with the rom process.

Well since he's flashing a rom, it would be rooted and the bootloader unlocked.

When you flash the ROM it also flashes the kernel that comes with it.
So if you are using Mahdi ROM then everything is ok but if you try a different ROM you get the error constantly?

If you receive issues on flashing, double check your download. If nothing, I suggest using the ClockworkMod recovery.

The type of recovery you use will have no bearing on it, hundreds of people on here use twrp and cwm.
All I can suggest and it was suggested before is to wipe your phone completely and start over again. Something went wrong, clearly.

No custom recovery so no ROM flashes until someone finds a new exploit. Not certain about the downgrade to older firmware, I'm sure that you could though.
Any new features make it worth upgrading from a flex Rom?

Flash question
What if im not on stock rom but a custom rom. Can i flash this anyways?
Wait.. how are we supposed to flash Superuser.zip if our recovery has been replaced? And is this the TMO version? It hasnt even been released yet.

Few observations:
- You can now enable the transparent status bar setting in NOVA launcher!!
- Group Messaging is now featured
- Emoji's don't send as MMS anymore
- Weather animation on secure lockscreen
- You get Immersive mode now with apps that support it.
They disabled Google Wallet which sucks but I'm sure their will be a workaround eventually.

[Q] Unlocked/Rooted Nexus 5 (stock) gets error when doing OTA Lollipop update

I have an unlocked and rooted Nexus 5 on 4.4.4 KTU84P running a stock image that was updated OTA.
I've been getting the OTA update all day but it keeps failing to install. The error says there is an issue with the file in the /cache/ folder. I've been able to update OTA in the past until this version.
I wouldn't mind just using Nexus Root Toolkit to update but to do that don't I have to unroot and wipe the device? I just want to update without wiping the device.
Is it possible?

There is an option on the Toolkit to revert the recovery back to stock. Will that be enough to install the update or do I have to unroot as well?

The tool kit will probably return you to stock and wipe your device. Skip the tool kit. Just flash the stock recovery in fastboot. If you don't know how see @rootSU's sticky in the general forum

Its a long process. Specially to set up adb
Sent from my LG-D855 using XDA Free mobile app
It isn't a long process at all. It should take no longer than a few minutes to install drivers and adb/fastboot. In fact, the entire process from start to finish should take no time at all.
Install drivers/adb/fastboot: less than 10 mins.
Section 1: less than a minute.
Section 2: less than a minute.
Section 3: less than 10 minutes.
Section 8: less than 10 minutes.

And its all official process? I mean i saw a video which showed to just download the rom and flash it with the stock recovery to change the os and after flashing just wipe the data and cache.
Is that wrong?

I think you're mistaken, do you have a link to this video please? You can only flash signed zips (official OTA's) with the stock recovery. And just flashing the ROM isn't enough because you need the entire firmware that's also in the stock images. And yes it's 100% official, the fastboot images are directly from the CM site.

That tutorial is incorrect, it only flashes the ROM, it doesn't flash any of the other necessary components of the firmware. You need to flash the stock images as I described earlier.

5.1.1 to CM12.1 advice please

Hi
Stock 5.1.1 LMY48B
rooted with TWRP installed.
Can I flash to CM12.1 just by flashing the zip from TWRP ?
will I lose any data ? Do I need to worry about bootloader or radio versions ?
If I want to go back is it as simple as flashing my nandroid backup ?
Thanks

As I know going from rom to rom you need to make a factory reset.
That will remove all what is stored on /data
All apps, cache and dalvik cache.
All other data insidr /storage/sdcard will be on safe
As I know stock rom cannot be restored, but I just take this device before 1 day. I don't know for that, because on mine previous phone that was impossible

CM nightlies include a radio and bootloader so you don't have to worry about that.

No they don't.
But since he's upgraded to stock 5.1.x already, everything is up to date and there's nothing to worry about. Besides, Google's bootloaders usually have good forward- and backward-compatibility.

From Jira:
Me => CM (AOSP) is the only rom which has a bootloader and a radio into its zip. Why? Could you remove them?
I was on the newest bootloader HHz12f and a radio from KRT16M. Every time I flash CM nightlies I have to update my bootloader and flash an older radio. Very annoying.
Thank you.
CM Team => Sorry, we will continue to ship both. It saves us more headaches in the long run. Thanks for your understanding.
It's as simple as that.

Custom ROMs have a check into their update-script for the bootloader version. If you don't have the good one then you can't flash it.
