Black screen - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

On my girlfriend's nexus 5 when shutdown the phone will not boot without using power+volume up+volume down then start.
I've searched for days and can not find a solution,
I've updated twrp to 2.7.1, replaced the ROM and nothing changes. Sane problem.
Anyone seen this issue?

[Q] soft bricked

I don't have much time have to ship back my phone to verizon soon. I rooted my phone and installed a cwm so i can transfer my game data to my replacement and i unrooted and i was trying to flash a stock verizon rom so that everything was factory before shipping it and now its stuck on bootload loop. I need some help quick.
Pull battery then boot into stock recovery and perform factory reset.

N5 stopped working

I had my n5 for 2 weeks and when I tried to turn it in this morning it got stuck on boot. Anyone else had that problem? I contacted lg and I send it in for repair.

You mean stuck on the Google boot screen or the boot animation screen? Either way you could've fixed it using adb to restore to stock using factory image, the tool kit, or simply go to your recovery and wipe data/ factory reset. You didn't have to send it back to lg if you can still access fastboot and do any of the method above.

You had to start a new thread for this? Why not use the existing RMA thread?

Because I was mad and didn't think! That's why I opened a new thread sorry.
Just wanted to know if others had problems like it.
No I'm not a noob ,
My N5 was not rooted and will not be.
Thanks for the qualifying and unqualified answers.

How to fix folder/directory creation error?

I'm having a problem creating a folder in ANY file browser app.
I'm running stock ROM on the T Mobile version of the Note 3 (n900t). I rooted with CFAutoRoot and I'm running some Xposed.
I've had this problem before on my previous phone and cannot remember how I fixed it.
I've tried fixing permissions through TWRP but no dice...
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Problem solved. Something with rooting process, works now after redoing the root.

SGH-I317 on SkyNote 10, lost root, WiFi

Hi all,
I recently upgraded my Note 2 to Android 4.3 using the SN10 ROM, and everything went smoothly with the exception that I haven't been able get root back (flashing the SuperSU 1.8 update does nothing) and Wi-Fi (the modem zip did nothing when I flashed it from TWRP, and the instructions say to load a file with Odin, except Odin cannot load .img files!)
Any help would be appreciated. I'm a computer engineer and I've been using custom ROMs since my HTC iPAQ PDA so I'm not a noob when it comes to this things.
TIA,
Erik

Forgot to add that I already tried clearing caches, etc... with no success. Wi-Fi toggle goes to on and then flips itself back off instantly.

Ok so reinstalled SuperSU from the Play store, turns out that one was a PEBKAC error. Any leads on how I can fix my WiFi though? Thanks!!!

Bump? Anyone? I would rather ask directly in the ROM's thread but I have to get past the 10 post limit first.

Also, every time I reboot the screen shows "Android is upgrading". Makes me wonder if I need to do something to make it finish before my WiFi will work again?

No signal

Today I received a phone recharge, and the first 5 minutes after this recharge everything was good, but then, with no sense, my smartphone didn't receive the signal.
Like I said, the first 5 minutes the device is good, in fact I called my friend with no problems...
I tried to change the SIM, but it doesn't work anyway...
What can I do?

Assuming the reprovision didn't work and you can confirm its not the SIM card damaged.. You could always flash a different radio in recovery or return to stock 4.4.4 via factory image to verify its not the software it'll also flash the latest stock radio.
Unfortunately my pc doesn't work, so I can't do nothing for now, there are other things that I can try?

Of course you can restore the nandroid. I'd do a full wipe first just to make sure everything is cleaned up.

Ok, now I try to do wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, wipe data wipe system and then a restore, thanks.

Flash the factory image in fastboot and see if that solves the problem. If it doesn't it could be a hardware issue.
Edit, I see you don't have a pc Can you borrow one?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
Today I'm gonna send it to repair, I hope that I can have the pc as soon as possible...
Anyway, in the hardware problem case, can I send it to LG?
I don't have the Google warranty...

Also tried to flash the rom's update, but it still the same.
So my last hope is to flash the factory image, but I have no pc at the moment.

Install Philz Touch. Wipe all partitions and flash vomer's stock 4.4.4 rom via recovery. This should be enough in most cases to rule out a software issue. But I agree, fastboot cleaning has solved my problems which recovery wipes couldn't!
Ok, thanks for the suggestion, I'll try it when I recover my pc
