Lidenburg's Padfone 2 ROM [11.8.3.3-0] - Miscellaneous Android Development

Note: All of these are for SKU version WWE
This is a simple ROM for the Padfone 2, which has been deodexed, rooted (SuperSU), zipaligned, debloated and has busybox installed.
Instructions: Download the zip and flash it through your custom recovery of choice (stock recovery will not work), no need to wipe anything (assuming you're already running kitkat). I would only recommend flashing the kitkat version if you're already on Kitkat, since I haven't tried going straight from my Jelly Bean ROM to Kitkat.

@lindenburg
My Padfone2 is running KitKat, rooted (towelroot) but with locked bootloader (since I updated to KitKat and Unlock.apk doesn't work on it).
Can I install your rom through stock recovery?

so we have to update to stock kitkat first?
i am using Guerilla ROM atm.

@rafael_mfr No I'm pretty sure that won't work, I'm pretty sure you can only flash Asus zip files that have the Asus signature with the stock recovery.
@BPM Yes I would only recommend flashing this from kitkat, I haven't tried flashing it from Jelly Bean, so I don't know if it will work or not, but there's a good chance it won't considering that I had problems going from modded Jelly Bean to a slightly modified version of Kitkat.

so i have to flash back to stock => then update to kitkat => then your rom.
3 firmwares to reach the goal ;-(

You shouldn't have to flash back to stock and then flash kitkat, just wipe everything, flash the stock recovery and flash kitkat through there and then flash the custom ROM.

I think this won't work ... Don't know what ASUS did with this KK update, but it just doesn't work when flashed clean. Tried many times (both stock and custom recovery, wiped everything including system) and always got stuck on white ASUS logo. It only works when upgraded from stock Jelly Bean.
So yeah, I'd say 3 ROM flashes are necessary in this case.

I tried to flash to lindenburg's 11.8.3.3-0.zip
From the original Asus kitkat Rom on my Padfone 2
Used power on + volume down
Boot to recovery
Apply update from extended storage
Selected lindenburg's 11.8.3.3-0.zip
Then got system needs to reboot
It started the check to flash
E: footer is wrong
E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted
Any hint on how to flash it to this Rom without bricking my phone?

Flash Lidenburg's 11.8.3.3-0
Hi,
for me it worked using TWRP 2.6.3.0
Regards

Sins my new pc running win 8.1 I have trouble using adb
Can't I do it from my phone the easy way please lol

You're using the stock recovery that's why it's not working, I thought that was common knowledge but since I've had 2 people ask why they're getting that error I guess it's not, I'll edit post to clarify that you need a custom recovery.

Thanks been a few years sins I moded or flashed android

I am missing something
Got me towelroot supersu busybox all successfully installed and working
Installed twrp works too
Select lindenburg's zip to install
Phone boots to recovery I select the zip again and errors stay the same
so I am still missing a custom recovery I reckon
Anyone who can give me a hint on how to get one?
And what way to get it on my phone

Make sure to remove system/etc/install-recovery.sh, otherwise the stock recovery will get flashed automatically again.

well my recovery image of choice was the wrong choice
all i get now is bootscreen that sais on top Invalid Kernel !!!
i used [ROOT] Rashr - Flash Tool got it from playstore
selected twrp under recovery and then selected the highest (A68) image version 1.7.1.0 i believe
only hope i did not brick it
any help is greatly appreciated
---------- Post added at 07:36 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:24 AM ----------
and a lionk to a custom recovery image that works on my padfone with kitkat would also be nice if i did not brick it

wel i found the TWRP 2.6.3.0 recovery image but fastboot FAILED (remote: can't flash unsigned image)
so now i can only hope someone here can make the original stock recovery image available for download

It sounds a lot like you haven't unlocked the bootloader, have you downloaded the Unlock.apk from Asus' website and followed the instructions in the app?
I linked the stock recovery to this post for you, unzip it and flash it in fastboot.

thanks for helping me out here bro
this keeps me from sending my device to asus
---------- Post added at 08:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:51 PM ----------
recovery flash says writing recovery okay
but keeps hanging in boot screen with invalid kernel !!!
but could boot to recovery and after whipe cache i got my phone back to life
it now boots normal again

oke renamed system/etc/install-recovery.sh to original.install-recovery.sh-a got twrp 2.6.3.0 recovery image installed
boot to recovery checked the version on top now only shows e3
apply update from external storage
selecting your zip
Finding update package
opening update package
verifying update package
installation aborted
droid lying on his back with a red red triangle with ! on it out of its belly
if i reboot all works normal
only wonder what i am still missing here
---------- Post added at 09:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:39 PM ----------
just checked Rashr tool history and the strange thing is
openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.0-A68.img broke my device with Invalid Kernel !!!!

[q] can you flash rom w/fastboot

I somehow have locked myself out but still have access to CWM and FASTBOOT. So, how do I use FASTBOOT to install a rom? Is it even possible? I just flashed CWM again, but still cannot get my CWM Backup copy to work.
up.
My friend has same issue, change build.prop.. no backup, no adb, only fastboot with cwm. Any ideas? Ext SD don't work in CWM\TWRP.
upd: Answer myself - Plug into usb in recovery, update driver in device manager to ADB Device, use adb

No, just the regular zip, you could also try reflashing the recovery (fastboot flash recovery recovery.img).

The command you can used to flash a zipped ROM like the stock one from Asus is...
Fastboot -i 0x0b05 flash system yourrom.zip
I usually flash these using twrp recovery but I think that will do it.
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using xda app-developers app
Maybe I just can't follow instructions or anythng, but I attempted my first ROM flash and it didn't work.
I tried the Blackbean 5 ROM, with TWRP. I found a set of instructions saying how to flash with TWRP, so I followed them, and I think I've soft-bricked my TF300T. Just stays on the Asus logo, and in top left it says "The Device is UnLocked."
I DID make a recovery in TWRP, and I attempted to flash that back with no luck.
Maybe I'm doing it wrong, so can someone help me out here?

So I'm not sure what my problem is now.
Then again, when it comes to ROMs, I'm a noob.
EDIT: I still have TWRP, my recovery, and the Blackbean ROM .zip on the device.

Background first when stock were you JB or ICS? Blackbean OP does not specify. At the moment I'm to lazy to read through thread or flash to find the answer. If you were on stock JB you can only use JB roms, if you were on ICS you can only use JB after stock upgrade to JB.
Forget Blackbean for now and let's concentrate on getting you fully functional on stock again. If you were on ICS then download stock 9.4.3.30 and unzip once that leaves you with a zip. Place that zip on your ( /sdcard ) or external sdcard ( /Removable/MicroSD ) and flash with Twrp. If you were JB then the instructions are the same except use stock 10.4.2.13.
If you do this you will loose your recovery ( Twrp ) but you should have a functional unit.
Non stock rom install.
Be sure you use proper rom for your bootloader ( ICS or JB ). Choose one that gives you instructions as to what to wipe, etc. You can adlib after you get your feet wet. If the op gives instructions use them if not then you may or may not have a happy ending with generic instructions.:good:
If you need anything explained let me know and I'll step by step for what you don't understand.
The reply you tried to follow said "I think", you should have investigated before following. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that was incorrect but the poster was in doubt and you should be also.
When we say "I think" we kind of assume you are going to do some reading and be comfortable with everything before you continue.
I took a little time to look over Blackbean and as I suspected it is for the ICS bootloader not JB.
same problem
I am having the exact same problem. I did manage to install the clean rom 2.5 custom rom successfully originally, and i made a backup through CWM, but I cant install any other rom on there for some reason. Yesterday I managed to go back to stock Asus jellybean rom successfully, and then had to root it and install CWM again successfully. I have again tried again today to install that EuroSkank rom, but alas, I get stuck at the ASUS boot logo permanently and nothing happens?
What might I be doing wrong??
I am on Jellybean. Thankfully the CWM is working fine and I could also restore my cleanrom2.5 backup.

( EuroSkank ) is also an ICS rom not JB - Clean rom 2.5 is JB. For now unless you have NVFlash you can't go back to ICS from JB and you can't run ICS rom with JB bootloader. (I'm using ICS and JB here to declare the bootloader )
Ok, Thank you very much.

any1 with Partition not found problem, open zip and look at the folders, delete everything except folder you want (which is propably system) then write
fastboot flash system yourzip.zip
if this doesn't work for you then extract files from the folder and repack only files from the system folder and use the command above.
It doesn't work for me (dunno why) but it's something

[Q] CWM Touch Issue

I first want to start off that I am brand new to all of this. I have been reading up about this for a while and finally decided to root my Galaxy S3 the other night. I followed the instructions by Phone Rebel in his Youtube video. I used these files: Download and Install Samsung Official USB Drivers - Link
Download and extract ODIN v3.07 - Link
Download the Zip Below
For Both Root and Unlocked Bootloader ***RECOMMENDED*** – Download SuperSU + Unlocked Bootloader to your SD Card - Link
Download the VRALEC Bootchain - Link
Download one of the below
For ClockworkMod Touch Recovery 6.0.1.2 (Download this to your computer) - Link
For TWRP Recovery 2.3.1.0 (Download this to your computer) - Link
Download the VRBLK3 Bootchain - Link
After completing the root, it automatically installed SuperSU. (not quite sure what it does, again, i'm very new to all of this) After reading up on what to do after you root, I read that it is a good idea to download ROM Manager as well as Mobile ODIN. I installed both, difference being I bought Mobile ODIN Pro.
Using ROM Manager, I tried flashing CWM Touch, I was successful in doing so. However, when I boot into recovery, I get a message stating that ROM will flash back to stock after boot. Do you want to fix? Yes= this can not be undone. No. Or Go Back. I was scared to press yes because I didn't know what it would do. I have not installed any custom ROM because I'm not 100% sure on how to do it so I am not going to take the plung until I know.
Any suggestions or answrs on how to fix this issue would be appreciated. I do want to flash a custom ROM like Cyanogenmod. I've just read that it's a really good custom ROM. Any ROM suggestions will be greatly appreciated as well.
Also, I've read that you have to back up IEML or IMEL? ( I probably butchered that all up, again i'm sorry) I have Titanium Backup, can i do it with that? And if you install a custom ROM do you have to do a wipe of your phone? If so, how do i do that? And if Verizon releases another OTA update, can I accept it or will it brick my device?
Thank you in advance for all your help.
It will ask disable stock recovery flash. You have to say yes else it will flash stock recovery and you will loose the cwm touch recovery which you flashed.
Thanks doesn't hurt....

As for the imei backup, you can not use Titanium Backup. There is a thread which talks about the imei backup and restore process. Try searching for it.

So if I understand this correctly you have flashed a new ROM but you are stuck on the boot screen.
This can happen due to a few things; the first and most obvious to me is that you didn't flash the correct version of the ROM. Please link me to the ROM you used and I can tell you if you did or not.
The second is that you aren't running the correct kernel, if the JB Mini Project runs on the CM10 kernel and you haven't flashed that first it won't work.
The third is that you didn't wipe all of the partitions (it seems as though you haven't) you need to wipe System, Dalvik Cache, Cache, then User Data.
If you want to restore to stock firmware download this program (http://androxyde.github.io/) and then download the .ftf file from one of the links in the link I will provide (http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=fU3SBnQr).
When you have got both of them things PM me and I will help you.

[Q] reboot loop after flashing the PAC-MAN rom, but can still enter recovery

I have my TF300T with official rom, but unlocked and installed TWRP 2.3.3 about 1 years ago,
after that I didnt do anything special liking flashing rom except regular use
Yesterday, my wife complained the tablet is too slow, so i tried to flash the customized rom PAC-ROM 4.3, then my device enters reboot loop.... and it hangs at the ASUS logo for about 30 second for every reboot.
since I still can enter recovery and run TWRP, so i searched around and followed some posts by doing wipe system, factory reset, reflashing multiple times....but nothing helped. I also did the wipe data button on the recovery menu besides the RCK, but after reading some posts, i am afraid that i softbricked my device by doing that.
however, now i still can enter TWRP, but dont know what to do to restore my device, I wish some one can help me here by giving some suggestions
I would also to know the cause of the failure, my device is running the offical 4.1 ROM, and i followed exactly the steps mentioned by the post on PAC_MAN, Is that because my TWRP is too old?

There is two version of JB bootloaders. It looks like You have an older one and all current custom roms require new one. So here is Your mistake. To unbrick Your device it need to be reflashed to 4.1 stock rom. Then, if You still need to flash pac-rom, upgrade to 4.2 stock rom first.
Thanks so much!
i just want to confirm, since i already did wipe data button, do i need to goto fastboot to push the stock rom?
or i can just flash the 4.1 stock (or customized rom) using twrp?
in addition, how should i upgrade to 4.2 stock rom? can you refer me a thread?
thanks again!:good:

I think fastboot is prefered to restore 4.1 stock. And IMHO best way to upgrade to 4.2 is stock recovery.
sorry that i am a newbie without much experience.
i am not very clear about the steps.but if i understand correctly, i need to
1. goto fastboot to restore stock 4.1, which will automatically remove TWRP and replace it with stock recovery
2. copy stock 4.2 rom to the root of a sdcard and run stock recovery for udpate
3. root the device again? and install TWRP
4. use TWRP to install the PC-man 4.3
am i miss anything?
thanks alot!

All right. Little hint: twrp for new bootloader have 4.2 in the end of file name and version 2.5.0.0 is most stable.
Hope this Helps
Try here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2187982
Basically, you have 2 options. If you want to stay on 4.1 bootloader, download the older 4.1 Asus factory image zip (v10.4.x.x) from this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1949758, and install it using one of the three options mentioned in the first thread.
Option #2 is to update to the newest 4.2 bootloader, download the newest 4.2 Asus factory image zip from the same thread (v10.6.x.x), and install it
I would go with #2 because most of the newer custom ROM are made for 4.2 bootloader, plus it's the offical newest Asus bootloader. The only reason I can think of to use option #1 is for some of the older custom ROM that still uses 4.1 bootloader.
Hope this helps.

Make sure to follow the instructions in RED exactly, there's a reason they are in red.

[Q] Rom question regarding Lollipop.

Hello guys,
I'm still relatively new to rooting stuff on the Nexus 5 (and 7). Running a rooted stock android 4.4.4. with Franco kernal, but with Lollipop now available.. Of course I want to upgrade. I am looking for a stock android 5 rom with prepoot. Is there a prerooted rom available? And do I have to flash stock kernal first before flashing the rom?
Thanks in advance!
Justin

Not exactly no. L root is different from KitKat. You have to flash a permissive boot.img (kernel) before flashing SuperSU in recovery.
There are flashable zips. There is one linked in the "guides and info" link in my signatrue (see section 6)... But you still need to flash the chainfire or @sykopompos Permissive boot.img

Thank you for the quick reply. The rom over here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...-android-4-4-3-ktu84m-rooted-busybox-t2557523 may suit my needs indeed. Although he's saying "-Don't install SuperSU (won't work, must use CF-Auto-Root)"
So, in my situation.. what I should do would be:
Factory reset
Flash rom with TWRP (my recovery)
Flash radio
Use the latest CF-Auto Root (for Lollipop)
Do I keep my Franco kernal?

I wouldn't use CF autoroot myself. Its similar to a toolkit which we don't recommend.
All you do is flash ROM.zip
Flash Permissive boot.img (kernel)
Flash SuperSU (It will work in this case)
I'll see if I can find a link to @sykopompos boot image
No, I don't believe franco will work. I would recommend trying ElementalX though. You flash it after the permissive boot.img. You jeep the permnissive stuff as ElementalX doesn't replace RAMdisk (just modifies it) so you get best of both worlds.
Plus ElementalX is a great kernel. You'll also be running teh same setup as me then

Thanks allot for the explanation! Alright, to do:
Put rom on internal memory
Boot into TWRP recovery
Whipe everything, cache, system etc.
Flash the rom
Flash the radio
Flash permissive boot.img
Flash Elemental X kernal
Flash SuperSU
Then reboot
Is that the correct way?

Yep, hold on on that, let me source the link.

Search the OP of this thread for "modified kernel"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/rom-n5-l-developer-preview-t2796003
Sorry for bothering.. I think I've got everything setup up.
I've downloaded the files:
bigxie_hammerhead_LRX21O-signed.zip (rom)
LGD820_LRX21O_RADIO.zip (radio)
N5_+LPX13D_ModifiedKernel (modified kernal)
UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.01 (SuperSU)
ElementalX-N5-2.03 (ElementalX)
Is it correct to flash it in this order? Did I get all the steps? The files I have downloaded are partially for L developer (such as SuperSU) preview.. does that matter? I also see reports of sd card not showing up.. any problems ahead?

Guys, I got myself in some real trouble I think.
First of all:
I came from 4.4.4. stock rooted with Franco kernal
I did make a backup in TWRP, files are on my pc.
Process:
First of all, I did a factory reset in TWRP
I flashed the rom, radio, kernal for root and supersu.
First boot went fine, although WiFi couldn't be found.
I decided to boot into recovery again to wipe my SD Card
Upon rebooting, phone is looking all black without a real 'launcher', sd card not found etc.
Than:
I managed to push rom, radio, kernal and supersu to /sdcard by adb in rocovery mode
I reflashed all of these, but the same problems occur
What should I do now? I'm ****ting my pants..

Exactly same problem here, using the same rom. I only flashed the rom. All was fine in the first boot. The problem appeared after I formatted the sd card recovery TWRP version 2.8.0.1.. I tried also to reflash the rom with a full wipe from recovery, but nothing .. black background, no navigation bar, no sdcard and no sim is found.
Try updating TWRP to 2.8.1.0. Wipe system/data/cache/dalvik under advanced and then flash the ROM.
Sorry, only way I know how to flash a recovery is with fastboot, no zips...
Or fastboot flash the factory image but do each img separately as I hear there are still issues using the flash.all script when it comes to the system image.

Will this fix the sd card as well?
Are people having the same problem with clockworks recovery mod?

I fixed it! Please check this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56743199&postcount=10 and follow the instructions.. you may have to flash the seperate .img files though, like I had to.
