It is my understanding that the 3g network coming out in the USA from T Mobile is WCDMA which is a duel band 1700/2100 system where as the European system is 1900/2100 meaning that the tri band phones ( my TYTN II ) will not work on this new 3g system. Is there any way to change my phone to 1700/2100 from 1900/2100. The duel bands are one for uploading to the tower and the other to download to the phone. In the USA the 1900 band is used for pda service thus T mobile is going with the 1700 band.

I purchased my Motorola XT720 in Sinagpore. It comes without SIM lock and it runs on 1700/2100.
But I currently use the phone with AT&T Wireless which uses 850/1900 WCDMA frequency bands. So I don't have 3G connection speeds.
Is there any way to switch the phone to use the AT&T frequency bands?

Some phones support the 1700/2100 frequency band 4 on lte technology but say they don't have support for the 1700/2100 umts technology. They are the same band and frequency right so why don't they say they can work on umts and lte for the 1700/2100 band? Are the signals for those bands separate from the technology, gsm umts or lte? This is mainly for Verizon phones. Also for phones that have different variants of frequency support are they different in hardware or on a software/firmware level?
As the topic states, is there any way to use the Nexus 5 (D821) on the Sprint Network in the US?
I had a broken phone so I bought this nexus 5 thinking that regardless of the difference between the two, the radio should still be compatible with it since it is supposed to be a world phone. I just recently realized that the radios are different (apparently the D821 isn't allowed to use CDMA bands).
I know there is the Nexus Field Test APK, but I don't think that would enable those CDMA bands.
I won't be back in the states for another three months, and at that point, my service contract would end with Sprint, so I could either buy a new phone, or go to another carrier (maybe T-mobile, or any pre-paid provider) and shop around.
But, as for my question, is there any way to get the D821 to use the Sprint Network?

Some NA carriers use CDMA instead of GSM for 2G. A D821 won't be able to get 2G from those NA carriers that use CDMA, a D820 will get 2G anywhere in the world on either GSM or CDMA.
D820's extra band 19 on WCDMA is pretty much negligible
Some LTE bands are shared, but most are different. If you're lucky/pre-searched before choosing a carrier, you can get a D820 to work elsewhere/D821 to work in NA on LTE if the carrier happens to use one of the LTE bands that are shared between the D820 and D821.
D820:
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
CDMA: Band Class: 0/1/10
WCDMA: Bands: 1/2/4/5/6/8/19
LTE: Bands: 1/2/4/5/17/19/25/26/41
D821:
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
WCDMA: Bands: 1/2/4/5/6/8
LTE: Bands: 1/3/5/7/8/20
Also, it has been proven possible to enable LTE band 3 & 8 on the D820, as well as band 2 & 4 on the D821 with modifications, which could make your D820 work on more non-NA carriers, and your D821 work on more NA carriers. So there is no software enabled modification that I can use that will enable the CDMA bands (not the LTE bands) to be used on a D821?
I know of that forum link at the bottom of the post, but, as far as I know, CDMA is required before the use of LTE on Sprint.

The D821 lacks CDMA support completely.
As far as I know, Sprint uses bands 25, 26 and 41 for LTE so the D821 has no way to get LTE either.
Just wanted to post this as I'm at T-Mobile user and just recently found out that they also use Band 5. So we will be able to use at least Bands 2, 4, 5, and 12. T-Mobile LTE Bands Now what would be awesome would be able to add band 66 or even convert a band. Now sure if thats possible, just wishful thinking.

so now i know which towers sprint and assurance can work on for on this much beter phone once i change some settings which i am hoping can be done all by using the built in phone code and changing the settings and adding a custom rom recovery with the use of no PC via ENGINEERING MODE. Any ideas or thoughts, or should I not have wasted your time.
