[Q] GsmInboundSmsHandler battery drain - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm monitoring my battery life after I returned to stock ROM and Kernel. I'm using ART, bacause I heard that the phone can have better battery management.
After 1/3 of usage I saw this on Attivo ( = Awake)

I used BetterBatteryStats and I saw this
I made a few research on internet, but I didn't find anything usefull.
I take another screenshot from the section Alarm
Now, I don't know if com.google.android.gms is the responsible of the GsmInboundSmsHandler wakelock, but I don't think so, cause I read that GsmInboundSmsHandler is a phone service.
What can I do? Because you can see that the Awake bar shows up constantly after 1/3 of battery usage.
The phone has been awaken for 1 g 17 h 42 m and the screen for 3 h 48 m. I can't really complain, but maybe the battery can do better than this.

Did you already fix it? If you did, then how? I´m having the same problem on my Moto G. The Phone APK is draining my battery. When I use Wakelocks Detector for more info it is the "GsmInboundSmsHandler". Please. Help.

[Q] Why is android system using a lot of battery?

So i have been experimenting with roms/kernels in the past few days and have noticed android system is almost using as much battery as the screen. What causes this? I never had this problem before I rooted. I am currently at 69% and my screen on time is only 1 hour. I have tried many kernels and I can't get any more battery life out of the phone. Other than the obvious stuff, what can i do to get better battery life?
You have to show us the BBS log. (Better battery stats) for wakelocks.
I only get like 16 hours of battery life and I could really care less because even if I was left at 60% when I went to sleep it would need to be charged or I would potentially be left with 20% the next day assuming I had the exact same usage and that isn't comfortable so I charge every night.
Keep in mind your cell signal. You can also switch off mobile data or switch to edge or 3g instead of LTE.

This is what I get and I have 54% left

Android System Battery High

Anyone have any tips on what I can disable on a stock non rooted device to get my Android System battery usage down? It's always on top and is usually in excess of 25%. As it stands I can't even get a day out of this thing with only 1.5 hrs of screen on time.
Maybe the battery is bad, phone is only a couple weeks old.
Oh and I should mention that there's no wakelocks or anything strange, it appears it's a legitimate battery drain. My screen brightness is low as well and today I never woke it up outside, just inside abient light. WiFi is off as well.

A thread all by myself, cool.
Today my battery has been unbelievable, only dropped 28% in 12 with plenty of use. I don't know what to think.
Same issue here.
I've had the phone for 5 days now.
First 3 were a blast with over 5 hours SOT.
I am now getting little over 2 hours SOT thanks to Android System.
Lonely threads come with expensive devices. No support, No Roms, No Development.
Anyhow, For your issue, Try minimizing the permissions of builtin apps. Disable autorun, and use greenify.

Android OS battery usage / stay awake

Device: SM-G920F, LUX CSC, 6.0.1 May 2016 ROM, stock, not rooted
OK, so after spending three hours figuring out an insane Android System battery drain problem (caused by a *backup* wakelock worked-around by disabling Google backups), I have another problem with the Android OS battery usage. Now, this one is somewhat better - I can live with 10% drop per night (8 hours), but is still not normal. Did lots of searching on these kernel wakelocks, but no cookie:

1. Wifi and bluetoothing scanning for improved location are off.
2. NFC is off
3. S Health is disabled
4. Tried turning off all the "smart" Samsung features
5. Cache wiped (though I never believed in this voodoo
At this point I'm all out of ideas. Any help? Also, what's your overnight Android OS battery usage? Thanks!

How to check with specific app causing wakelock in Android System?

I've just got a new phone for weeks but found that the battery life is not as good as my wife's one (same phone model).
After installing GSam, it seems to me that Android System is the main contributor of the battery drain. Using below as an example, there is over one thousand times of wakelock for GnssLocationProvider, 656 for *location* and 683 for *alarm*.
Any idea what can I do to further check what app(s) is actually causing these wakelocks? Many thanks for any help which could be offered.

Detecting wakelocks is pretty easy once you have a rooted phone. Fully charge your battery to 100% and install an app, called Wakelock Detector on the device.

My phone is non-root one, but I've installed Wakelock Detector and with proper right granted.
But in WD, it still just showed the same like the screenshot I've shared in first post, i.e. those have been grouped under Android System...

Question Android Never Idle

People,
I have a problem with my A52 because it never gets idle in bedtime.
I've configured a Bixby routine to stop sync and all internet connectivity but the problem continues.
Also installed gsam battery but I have doubt how to locate the service that is causing the behavior.
Could you help me?
How many hours are you getting out of one charge cycle? And how many hours of screen on time are you getting?
We could compare and see if you really have a problem and it might become obvious as to what is causing it too.

Thank you!
I'll get the data from a regular usage day and share here to compare.

24-28 hours is about as much as I get myself, and I see that you've got 1d 3h 46min which is about 27 hours. So I'd say its fine.
