This is a question meant for the q/a thread. If you had read the stickies, you would have had your answer.
Anyways, you'll have to first unlock your boot loader and then flash a custom recovery like TWRP. After that flash SuperSU zip.

I'm thinking of purchasing a moto g heading toward the GPE. Just want something to mess with here and there even though I don't really need it. I have a gs5 (at&t) which currently has nothing for now so I'd figure I'd buy a moto g since it's the best cheapest nexus like device out right now. With that being said..if I purchase a GPE Moto G will I be able to flash roms in the development thread? Is there any difference between the GPE and the orig. Moto g? Just want to know before I buy one.
Thanks in advance

just purchase the normal xt1032 moto g. it's cheaper than the gpe edition. you can also flash the gpe edition rom onto it if you unlock the bootloader. you will get updates and everything just like you would with the gpe edition. only difference is you need to have an unlocked bootloader

im guessing you have a Moto G as your posting in moto g Q&A so look for "philz_touch_6.55.0-falcon" or TWRP for falcon as falcon is the moto g codename you will need to unlock your boot loader there are MANY tutorials on doing this flash the custom recovery and BAM your flashing

I have the Verizon version. I can't unlock the bootloader, that's where my issue comes into play. Haven't seen a safe strap recovery but I'm not too concerned with flashing really. I just want root access. Does anyone know of a way to root the Verizon Moto G running 4.4.4?
Could somebody post a link or explain how to update an already rooted xt1032 to lollipop from kit kat. I found every other type of method but only if its running stock. Every way I enter a search for this its always dealing with stock firmware, is their a guide for the rest of us?? Thank you and p.s. its a first gen moto g, thank you again

You need to flash stock firmware in order to install the official OTA.. If you don't want, just wait for someone to make a flashable zip of lollipop ,then flash using twrp or cwm..
Okay, So Ive been looking around but I cant find a Solid thread with a bunch of people that it works for. So I got the xt1032 Moto G GPe Running 5.0.1. Hopefully someone can help me with the steps on how to root.
Hi,
I would like to ask about unlocking the bootloader on lollipop (5.0.2) on XT1032. Has anyone tried it? I heard that there were soem issues when unlocking on 4.4.4 so I'm a bit afraid that something could go wrong. I'm looking forward to trying out CM12 or at least some Xposed modules like gravity box because I'm not really 100% satisfied with the pure lollipop.
Thank you in advance for your response
First, check the Motorola site to see if your bootloader can be unlocked.
Hi there,
I had unlocked my XT1033 Lolipop bootloader few days back using Motorola Moto G UNLOCK BOOTLOADER TUTORIAL: http://youtu.be/hKG6uOEqqIw and install twrp recovery & rooted it using cf auto root on stock rom...... Currently using xposed with gravity box with no issues and the bootloader process doesn't cause any issues unless you make any silly mistake..... Easy as pie... Give it a try.....
Thank you both
I checked that my BL can be unlocked so I'll probably give it a try.
Looking for TWRP for XT1032 running 5.0.2
I have one more question, where can I find working twrp for my version (XT1032 on 5.0.2).
Do you guys think that this link http://techcrypto.com/moto-g-twrp-lollipop/ can be trusted? and won't cause any damage to my moto g
Thx for replies.
EDIT: That recovery works fine (except for the screen flickering but thats probably problem in all of them)
