Any questions? Feel free to ask

t was just a matter of time before this could actually happen. The Oppo N1 smartphone, which was launched earlier this year with rotating camera, has now been cloned and is available for sale. These clones are now becoming popular among the smartphone industry pretty fast, since most of the flagship devices these days have very high price tag which cannot be afforded by each and every common man. Considering price factor and reliability, the Oppo N1 clone, iNew V8 proves out to be pretty good against the pricey flagship. One should be careful while buying genuine brands.

V8 Plus is a upgrate version of V8; and there isnt big difference between them, some parameter will be upgrate and better,
like frequecy of CPU,

Has anyone been able to get Android 5 or 6 for this phone, I believe its powerful enough to do it but for some reason not many people developed / ported for it. A Hexacore and Octacore device that's slept on.

Sure, why not
New Firmware release:
Most of all it is cheap...and inexpensive
Although the specs promise a great phone and set high expectations, you shouldn't set your hopes too high.
Memory is very limited (only 1,2 GB left for installing software) and not addressed very efficiently. Apps2SD or Link2SD doesn't work for the remaining 12GB...and external MicroSD cards are not handled very well.
Biggest challenge and most common remark/complaint on http://bbs.elephone.hk/ however is the battery. It drains quite fast.
Support from Elephone is quite limited and the phone is not very popular amongst enthusiasts, so custom ROMs are not very likely.
...but as long as you don't expect too much at this price....it is good value for money (at least I am quite happy with it...except for the WiFi problems).
Btw: there is another tread about the P2000 at http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/elephone-p2000-nfc-mtk6592-1-7ghz-t2826632
this includes the ROM updates and links

About the app partition, you can fix this. Mine has now 7GB of app space which is lot more than what almost anyone needs.
Look at Marsapa custom tom on NeedRom. He is now at version 3. The ROM works perfectly. The phone is really great.
The only problem that remains and will probably last, is the battery life. About 2 to 2:30 hours max (when screen on).
Just because of that, I'm looking for a replacement.

What's the best non-mainstream phablet to buy?

No Sonys, Samsungs, Apples or Nexus, what's the best phablet to buy? I'm thinking phablets like these

although is getting popular in a half year (especially in my country),
What about Oppo N1 (if you dont mind its being manufactured in China)
5.9" IPS display 1080p 377ppi
Snapdragon 600 1.7GHz x4 with Adreno 320
2GB ram
either 16GB or 32GB internal memory with microSD slot
unique feature, which, is flip camera with 13MP with dual flash (LED)
also, back cover touch (acts as scroll, etc)
another from OPPO,
Oppo N3 (newer ver of N1)
Snapdragon 801 2.3GHz x4
Adreno 330
32GB internal memory with microSD slot
unique feature, which is much more enhance camera, 16MP with OmniVision tech, same 2 led flash
same features as N1
(i guess phablet is a smartphone with more than 5" screen)

I'm very excited for about this phone. I hope there will be nice software development for it.
Definitely interested in the Plus and Pro versions of this device.
I've been using a Huawei Mate 7 for nearly a year now and I'm fine with the size factor of it, and I think I'd like the even larger size of the Phab 2. I can't wait to see some tests on the finished product and some camera samples. :fingers-crossed:
Good to know that it does have NFC, GsmArena doesn't have NFC listed for it, but not having USB OTG is a bummer. I also wonder if it has MHL and WiFi Direct.
I just signed up for when its going to be released, this might be my next new phone.
I would love it if this phone had CDMA compatibility. I'm stuck on Verizon in my area, so once again I'm disappointed...

I don't like it either. But unfortunately CDMA only takes up 15% of the market (mostly North America) while the GSM standard takes up 85% of the market share. So if I were a smartphone manufacturer, unless I had an exclusive contract with Verizon or Sprint, I'd put all my energy towards making my device compatible with the most broadly used standard.
CDMA is starting to make some inroads in other countries, so maybe that will spur more device manufacturers to include the CDMA frequencies in future phones.
Thanks for the insight Clarkson. I didn't realize that there was such a big difference, but I knew there was one. This may be extremely naive, but doesn't it seem like they could just include CDMA radios and charge an extra $20 or something? I have a Nexus 6P that I'm extremely happy with right now, but I'm always on the lookout for my next phone. This one is unlocked and I activated it on Verizon, so I know they can do it!
Phone doesn't have NFC I posted this on Lenovo site and got answer from "Lenovo"

No it does not
Champagne Gold?
Any word on when champagne gold will be available? If I'm spending $500, why not be happy with the color?
The other disappointment for me is the micro USB. I suppose I can compromise on the lack of USB-C but I've been spoiled.
I currently use a ZTE Zmax Pro, a quick pick up after returning the Note 7. I discovered that I loved the 6-inch screen. Why not go for a 6.5 with higher screen resolution?
The camera and battery of the Phab 2 pro are much better. I'm a big OneNote stylus user so the screen real estate is more attractive to me than Tango.
[Queen OTE=H. Clarkson;67493220]Definitely interested in the Plus and Pro versions of this device.

I am glad the US is finally getting a phone this size with decent specs. I used to have the Z Ultra back in the past but their camera was dismal and had no flash but it was still a beast. I see the Phab 2 Pro as it's replacement for me as far as size, camera, screen resolution and full LTE support. I think Sony dropped the ball big time by not having a follow-up to the Z Ultra....I am currently using the Mate 8 but I have used the Mi Max and Honor Note 8 this year as well but the Mate 8 won me over and after I get this Phab 2 Pro..I will not get another phone for awhile
Z Ultra also had bezel from hell. Its touch screen eventually stopped working on me. I had the GPE.

Does this phone get calls over VoLTE or drop to 3G like the Phab 2?
01/26/17 EDIT: I had to go buy one to find out for myself... YES this device uses VoLTE (HD) For Calls.
