I tried every other rom i could, changing ril didnt help and flashing the new baseband zip didnt help either. Any ideas why this is happening? i really want to use ICS.
Thanks!!!
Anyone? I can't seem to use any other rom I'm stuck on 2.3.3

Did you ever check to see if you had the correct APN listed, or had any APNs listed at all? Do you have an H, 4, or anything else by the signal bars?
Got full data can download from play store everything works fine calling has no clicks just can't receive texts unless wifi calling is turned on I've looked through the forums tried many things and no luck

Does it work on a stock ROM? Do you format system and data when you flash new ROMs?
I would like to jump in here and say I have had the same issues with both ICS and CM 10 PA ROMS I have wiped, and formatted till I am blue in the face. No change. Everything works fine with GB 2.34 BB21y but if I flash any of the above can't receive texts at all WIFI or not..Hope we can figure this out before the official release of CM10 as I would love me some Jellybean.

Since December 6th, I've had occasional difficulty receiving text messages in a timely manner. Believing it to be caused by an outdated CM10 nightly, I downloaded the latest (at the time December 10) and did a factory reset. Since then, the issue has been largely non-existant. However, today, I experience it.
I decided to do a little digging. Using an XML backup of my SMS messages, I decided to see how many messages have been delivered over an hour after they were sent. In the six months of SMS history, there've been only 30 messages delivered over an hour after they were sent, all after December 6th. On average, these messages are arriving 3.7 hours late, and only after I send a message first. (For example, I pick up my phone, send a message, and suddenly receive several messages.)
I've run my current build of CM10 for almost a week, and have only had noticeable issues today. (Keep in mind this issue doesn't seem to occur if I send texts on a regular basis.)
Anyone have an idea why this might be happening? Could this be caused by my ROM, and if so, should I try switching to another?
Have you tried a different radio?

I'm stock rooted but you're not the only one having this issue. I was actually locked too when this was happening as well. The messages take a long time to arrive and when they do, they come in droves.
However, it doesn't happen to every person I know texting me. On Att as well.

CM10 bundles the radios into the .zip, thus making it more difficult to flash radios. I'm running the only AT&T radio, but I might try flashing one of the few CM10 compatible radios tomorrow and see how much luck I get with it.

I've been able to determine that, after an indeterminate amount of inactivity, the phone won't receive *any* text messages sent to it until you send one out. Today, happened after just thirty minutes in my pocket. Pulled it out, sent one, and then received five. Is your phone receiving them on its own, or are you only getting them after you've sent a message?

Now that you mention it, if I send a text, then I get everyone else's late and in bundles. However, I've had it be jus a couple people but mostly from just one person. That person also has a completely stock HOX. Mins was doing it too when it was completely stock.

This I'm afraid is incorrect, if ROMs contained radio images then there would be quite a few more bricks.
They don't include them for this reason
The reason why you can't flash certain radios because the ones in the dev section include the ril. And because the sense ril is much different from a aosp one it causes issues when you flash a radio. Hense why there are separate versions for those who are running a aosp ROM

Yes, radio firmware currently is being set to 1.85 on boot.
Now, for those who are upset, and want 2.20.....note that I am right now working on updating our prop libs so it will be 'updated' to 2.20 att release radio. On boot, the radio firmware is updated to what the ROM has in it, for those curious about why it seems the flashable radios are not 'taking effect'. This will help reduce radio firmware outliers and keep the rom all together on the same versions of software.

CM10 bundles the radio into the .zip so that everyone is using the same, as there are like 17 variants of radios for the Evita. It loads it on boot from a location (/system/etc/firmware) different than the normal radio.img flashes, which is why even when you flash them, the ROM uses the bundled one.
This has been happening to me as well since about Dec 6 as mentioned in OP. I am rooted various roms, Original and Sense ICS or JB. Now I think this is an ATT issue. My other line on my account also a HTC OneX Virgin (Stock, NOT rooted, 2.20) used by a friend has the same problems. Sometimes its 20min late up to hours late. We both have issues where texts when they do finally come through like one other mentioned you get all at once. Time Received will show something like 8:00pm, sent 6:00pm...

I agree with you 100%. I was posting here weeks ago when the OP created the thread. I was bone stock then and it was happening. Happening rooted with different Roms too. It has been happening to my brother and his wife with S3s and my fiance and I on HOXs. We are all on ATT.
I think ATT is putzing with something but unrelated to phones on Roms. Been happening for a while now. In fact, has anyone else just had LTE implemented? Went up here just over a month ago and seems ever since my texts aren't getting to people fast enough and vice versa.
ATT HOX Premium App--Stock is fine but modded is Creative
I find this happens on mine at times when I'm in a poor lte signal area.
I send a message to myself once a day to flush system an I see it at these times, if I turn lte off and go hspa they come through fast.
I don't think lte is culprit I believe its in the carriers hand off between lte hspa imo.

Then scroll till u see something above turn off radio. It should say something like lte wdcma prl gsm... What u have to do is change it I use the PRL one... I hope this works

I've been searching and sifting through the MMS threads here and I've tried everything I've come across. Checking the APN settings, trying different SMS apps, etc... and nothing seems to work.
Ever since I started flashing my 727 back in summer 2012, it's been an all out war trying to get my phone to receive MMS messages, and 95% it just flat out won't work. I've been using the PTA APN, and I've tried the wap.cingular (which I originally switched off of because I couldn't get mobile data on.) I've also tried a plethora of SMS apps like Textra, Chomp, and Handcent, along with the stock app, none of which work. I'm also on the UCMC1 radio, and currently I'm on SlimBean 4.3, although I've had this issue long before SlimBean.
Thanks guys.
Do a factory reset in TWRP then Odin back to stock. Unless you've tried it already :/ (I'm sure you have). It fixed this same problem on mine (broken SMS), but ofc mileage varies.

Are you saying you unpacked the MMS.apk from the stock rom and replaced the current one with it?
So, I Odin'd back to stock and was able to receive MMS on stock (though holy COW it was ugly. It's been a long time since I've been on that bloated software.) I then flashed back to SlimBean 4.3 and was still able to get MMS, although I still can't receive them through Textra, but I can deal with the stock messaging app. I guess this can be marked as solved. Thanks for the help e'rybody.

So we know going to anything above a MB1 modem on none touchwiz ROMs causes texts to start to not get sent until you go back to MB1/TW and let the phone reregister the SIM; but has there been any progress into maybe finding out why? Was there a new modem on the Rogers 4.3 update that might have fixed that? Is there something in TW that does the registration to VZW that should get added to the none TW ROMs?

Sounded like most people affected were East-coast, right? I'm Midwest, so that could be why.
I also read that they were all using the stock messaging app though, too, and people thought it could be somehow tied to some sort of "signature" the stock AOSP/CM messaging app sends it's SMS messages. Didn't see anybody mention if they were using a different texting app like GoSMS, Chomp, or Handcent.

I live in central PA and had the issue where I could only send 1 sms/mms and had to reboot. I was on the ML1 modem (with MF1 firmware) and what worked for me and others is to go back to a TW rom. Then flash the MB1 AIO firmware. Make sure you can send multiple sms/mms. If they go through, you should be good to use AOSP roms. After doing this, I tried CM11, C-Rom and PacMan and all 3 allowed me to send sms/mms. The key is to stay on the MB1 modem. Don't upgrade to a more recent modem.

Yeah pretty much this. I'm in VA and had the texting issue with the ML1 modem and the MF1 firmware. Right now I'm on the MB1 modem and the MB1 firmware and all is well.
I've got an issue where sometimes SMS fail to come through when my device is asleep. I can generally fix this by sending myself an SMS, then the pending messages come through. Sometimes when I try to send that SMS to myself it fails to send initially, giving me the error about it not sending, and then the pending ones come in.
This also happens with phone calls as well, sending them right to voicemail. My location does not influence this - it happens on any signal strength.
It seems to happen on any ROM and I've made sure to update the modem whenever it was an option. If there is any info I can provide please let me know.
Anyone have any thoughts on what I could do going forward? I know I'm definitely missing calls and texts because of this - I just cant seem to fix it.

Yeah I'm on t-mobile as well, weird.
I've tried Lineage, Superman, LightRom, DotOS - all of them seem to do the same thing. My only guess is there is a fundamental issue with all of these or the issue lies in having updated the modem. Just wild guesses though, I have no idea how to fix it
Yeah that is strange, now thinking back this wasnt happening before the latest update (not oreo, I still don't see that one for some reason). Maybe oreo will change modem and fix issues?

Well my s7 is doing this more or maybe has for some time. I miss text messages and calls. I only find out about it when I'm with the other person and they tell me I never replied to them. The phone is 100% stock on N, I even did factory reset. It has become unreliable. I'm now using my old s5 on lineage.
I'd try lineage on the s7 but sounds like this might be a baseband or modem issue which means issue might still be present.

No solution here, posted on reddit as well and I can't seem to find anyone who knows how to fix it nor where to look.
I can definitely make this happen every day so if any logs can be gathered from anywhere I'm more than able to do that. I feel like you're on the right path with thinking that it's the baseband/modem - this wasn't always an issue and I've been putting ROMs on it since day one.

Yeah it's very strange and frustrating! If stock Oreo ever lands maybe it will be fixed but not holding my breath. I'm on the verge of just replacing phone with OP6 or something else. Yeah I think it has something to do with 7.0. I flashed the 8.0 Lightrom and it seems to be fixed. All SMS and phone calls are coming through, no calls are being sent right to voicemail.
The rom itself isn't super stable and most of the 8.0 roms seem to have an issue with GPS so I'll have to wait for a more stable solution but I'll take a little instability over messages failing.
Thanks. I've been using my old s5 exclusively but will hunt for a good 8.0. You said lineage 14.1 still has issue?

I tried it with Lineage for 7.0 but not the 8.0 version. Some Oreo roms are having issue with GPS (Lineage included) so I stayed away from those.
I actually just swapped to another rom to see if it's more stable. Currently on ALEXNDR's 8.0 rom - it's super stable so far and pretty barebones in terms of a ROM but I'd rather build what I need into it through Magisk & Xposed anyways.
Looks like the ALEXNDR rom is doing it as well - going to head back to the previous one.
Alright so I've tried a few other 8.0 ROMs and they're all doing, except for Lightrom.
I have no idea what makes Lightrom so special but it's working for now.
Thanks, have a link for lightrom?

I think it might have something to do with the developer being in Germany. In most of the ROMs I've tried before the CSC that was always given/recommended was BTU (UK). I took a peak in the ROM files to figure out if the CSC was different - the listed CSC "G930FDBT2ERE8" which SamMobile lists as the German CSC (DBT) . T-Mobile is huge in Germany (Deutsche Telekom) so maybe other ROMs might work just as well if I use the German CSC - pure speculation though.

Yeah still on 8.0.0 LightROM using 3.18.117-TGPKernel.S7.6.6.1
Baseband version is G930FXXU2DRAG
Seems to be the most stable for me. It still happens here and there (usually with long SMS failing to send) but other than that it works.
