I'm planning on getting the moto G Dual Sim factory unlocked version and I was wondering if I can covert this to the gpe?
Does the dual Sim also work in the US to AT&T and T-Mobiles network?
If the GPE version is Dual-SIM as well, you can flash the official GPE ROM to get your Moto G a GPE-feel. Please note that this will void your warranty, so i wouldn't recommend it.
There's also the partitioning scheme, which I know that is different in the GPE version, but I don't know if that can break up your phone... So, it's up to you
About the networks, as far as I know if the device is factory unlocked, it will work in any network, someone please correct if I'm wrong.
Good luck!

Yes it will probably work but I'm worried about Internet connectivity. ?
Well, everything should work if the hardware is the same (which I think it is), but do a little search before doing it, it will be useful!

Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, but I had given up on Moto G as a potential root on Verizon Prepaid, but then:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52717219
If it has, what guide would I use? If not, any suggestions for a rootable on Verizon Prepaid?
If you need Verizon prepaid, look into Page Plus, at www.pagepluscellular.com because they are prepaid on Verizon's network. The Boost Mobile Moto G is rootable and can be made to work on Page Plus.

Let me just add a comment here if I may.
I have a Boost MOTOG flashed to use Pageplus. Version 4.4.2
Although I have unlocked the bootloader and installed the SUPERSU via recovery, the phone will not root. No error messages or anything but if you try to use any app that needs root, it will not work.
It has something to do with Verizon & 4.4.2 version.

Yea, I'm getting mixed feedback. I appreciate the suggestion with Pageplus and still trying to look into it. The guys over at rootandroid told me they can't root the G on Verizon Prepaid. I really don't want to be on the "bleeding edge" as an amateur. Still looking for a proven method, or an alternative phone...

I have a Boost Moto G flashed to PP, on 4.4.2, and root works just fine for me. Running xposed like a champ. Titanium backup worked for removing needless apps, too. I used the superboot method.

I am seriously considering buying a Verizon prepaid Moto G, but this root issue may be a deal breaker for me. Why so much of a problem with rooting this phone. I know the bootloader is locked, but I have had phones that were locked but I was still able to root them. What's with the Moto G?

Thank you. When you get a minute, could you please look at what version your bootloader is? Mine is 41.05.
Thanks.

Going down the Pageplus road, but first another question. Is there another MVNO you might recommend other than Pageplus that's prepaid and on the Verizon net?
The reason is, I got pushback from Pageplus when I mentioned the G. Claim their dealers can't handle it. In addition they claim Verizon is blocking the G because it is a prepaid device.
In short it must be a 3g or backwards compatible to 3g device, nonprepaid and a Verizon contract phone.
I've found 3 PP dealers in the area, might see how far I get with the G or other best option they have. I just want to make sure I'm not overlooking another MVNO...

I use Page Plus, so I don't know any other MVNOs. They are correct about the Moto G, Verizon blocks their Moto G for at least 6 months. If you flash a Boost G, their imeis aren't registered on Verizon, so they come up fine. Dealers won't know this, but you can set yourself up on the Page Plus website. Kitty Wireless, a Page Plus dealer, offers free ESN checks to make sure you can use a phone with them. Kitty is all online, though.
Edit: I should specify, my wife has the Boost G on PP, I set it up. Bought a Verizon G before I knew about the locked bootloader and Boost flashing. When the Verizon G can be used on PP, we'll be trading phones.

Hello,
On the dual sim version, and I use dual sim and do not wish to loose this ability, is the GPe an option? If so, what are the differences? Any interest in moving from regular 4.4.4 to 4.4.4 GPe ? I can't seem to find any review/comments on anyone using dual sim and GPe.
Thanks.

From what I've read from here, gPE supports single sim only, so you either go stock ROM or go single sim gPE. The dudes over here don't mind losing 2nd sim, but you do so don't go gPE
I noticed that I never thanked you.
Sorry about this, thanks.
I did end up staying stock and selling the device.
I'll be getting my Moto G in a few days, and I just want to ask whether XT-1033 is compatible with other custom roms built for XT-1032 (single sim version)? And is the method for rooting the same?
Thanks!

1. You will need to use ROMS that support xt1033 ie. GUMMY ROM, CR-DROID, MOKEE, and CM11. I must tell you that these roms may have bugs pertaining DUAL SIM USAGE. if you intend to use only one sim card (like me), then no problem should arise. Best thing to do is to read the ROM threads.
2. Rooting method is the same (the unlocking bootloader thing)

Thanks for the answers! One more thing, how do I check whether my bootloader is locked? Or does all Moto G ship with a locked bootloader?

If youve gone through the rooting tutorial, it'll say wether you can unlock BL or not when you request the bootloader unlocking code. You'll find out when you request the code. By right, i think all xt1033 ship with locked BL That CAN be unlocked.

my 3G doesn't work on 4.3 or 4.4.2. But I have another phone (sony) with 4.0.4 and my 3G works.
Have you try to copy your APN from your sony to your moto ?

yes i did, but to no avail.
I am suspecting Moto G is a 4G phone, but my SIM is still on older 3G network.
There's really nothing in common between Moto G and Sony devices, so the problem isn't due to the OS, but your phone it seems. Did you try to interfere with the kernel, the Rom or something like that?

I can't solve your problem, but if I was in your shoes I'd first try your carrier and I'd have a look at modems.
If you have your phone in wcdma auto or preferred, and your 3g service is weak it will stick to 2g.
Try *#*#4636#*#* and toying with different modes.
Btw, whats's your phone version? Country? Carrier?
Here i am, using a sony phone that runs 4.2/4.4
using 3g works perfectly, even H+ appears
on a serious note, get your sim checked, and also, did you cut the sim yourself or something?
Is there any possible way of doing it. If you ask why i bought an ATT one instead of the moto online one its complex. In any case is there anything i can do with it or should i just resign myself to having to use it as it came? Is there any hope for roms if the bootloader is locked. Thanks
