broken screen galaxy S3 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I got a Verizon Galaxy S3 i535 from a coworker. The screen is cacked, phone turns on, LEDs work, I hear notifications, but no display. What do I need to replace? The phone is not rooted. Thanks.

Easiest thing to do is buy oem lcd & base & put the rest of the together. Its pretty easy & you can get them for $100 on ebay

Galaxy S 3 for Note 2

I switched to Verizon from T-Mobile because of signal and i had an at&t note working on T-Mobile. I loved the phone, it was purely perfect. But when i switched i had to choose a different phone,i do like the s3 but i loved the screen size. I was thinking of trading someone that gets the note 2 and doesn't like the size for my mint condition s3. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The note 2 probably won't be out for another couple months. Its pretty much guaranteed to have a locked bootloader (which may or may not get unlocked) i'd personally keep the S3
The Galaxy Note II should be released sometime in November. I myself will be making the switch. And I personally think you'll have great luck making this trade. Some people don't like gigantic phones and would much rather have an S3. I suggest trying Craigslist once the Note II gets released.

Where can I purchase a new LED screen?

Whenever I search for a screen on ebay it brings up glass fronts. I need to know where I can get an actual LED display. I dropped my phone and the glass is fine but the actual display has dimmed the screen to the point I can't see the top. I need a link please ?

Actually the galaxy s3 uses LCD.
Secondly. The screen part is largely referred to as a digitizer.
So you can search eBay for that.
However. I believe if you ship to Samsung
They will replace for 180 with parts and shipping included. (So I've heard)
I think this is the cheapest unless you find a used donor phone
I hope I helped
Don't mind if I ask for a thanks? Haha
Jk. But PM me if you have any questions. Might be able to help

The digitizer is the glass. Not the screen.

Verizon samsung galaxy s3

I drop my phone the other day and the phone will turn on but nothing is coming up on the screen if someone can answer this question well I need to replace the whole screen the glass did not crack?

You might have broke the digitizer under the screen, or disconnected it, knocked the ribbon connection loose. If you are comfortable with tinkering inside, that's the first thing I'd check. If it's the digitizer, you have options on replacing it yourself or sending/taking it somewhere to be done.

Question about root and unlock

I am getting an Alltel S III tomorrow that will work on the Verizon network, and I actually have 2 questions. I have a broken verizon s3 that I used a while back until I broke it, that's rooted, unlocked, and with a custom ROM. Can I pull the motherboard out of that phone and put it in the new one? And what root method would I follow to root the alltel version? Is it the same as Verizon? I'm hoping I can just swap mother boards and go. Thanks guys!

If you swap the mainboard, then your Alltel S3 will be the broken one.
I got the Alltel s3 today, and I pulled off the back cover and saw that there was no sim slot. So I did the motherboard switch, and activated my sim card(I'm coming from the moto droid mini which takes a nano sim) and bam came up with signal and everything. Everything functions as it should.

I still don't buy it. You took a mainboard from a bricked S3 and put that into your new Alltel S3 and everything works??
The OP mentioned that he broke the fone.. Not meaning he brick the fone. Prove us right or wrong on wat happened

Didn't happen until there are pictures.
One more question why buy an alltell S3 instead of a vzw S3. If he still gonna use it on vzw network.

I'm going to guess he got it for a great price.
Noooo lol I didn't brick my old s3, all I did was broke the glass and lcd display. Upon getting the alltel s3(on 4.3) I noticed it did not have a sim slot, so I went ahead with the motherboard swap. After installing my motherboard from my broken s3, I used had to use the MB cover from my old one because it had a cut out for the sim slot. Then I powered it on and presto. I basically just did a conplete screen replacement. Whenever you break a screen and have to have it replaced, they just pull your motherboard and put it basically into a new phone and it won't matter the branding. You'll have the Verizon guts on the inside. I'm sorry about the confusion guys, I should have explained a little better.

OK, that makes sense since you only broke the digitizer...usually people just get another screen and pop it on. Everything would stay original, but got to give you credit for replacing the mainboard. You do have some skill there!

Lol nevertheless. You get the point lol. And yeah I watched a couple videos, then when I actually went in and did it myself I was like omg this was too easy. I could do this all day long. So I may have found a way to make some money on the side lol.

You inspired me to open up my gs3 take the motherboard out and rip off my power button. You are right that was way to easy and now I can reboot! The bad part is I need to be plugged in to turn it on by entering download mode then decline instead of accept. I might solder a new switch some day but this is good enough for now. Thank you for giving me the confidence to do that!
My old job i work at a manufactured company for hospital devices we would build n repair. I can open those up and work on them. But when it comes to my fone. Im breaking sweat

The Galaxy S III is the only phone I have done this on, so keep this in mind. But yes it was super easy. It was a lot less stressful than rooting and unlocking a device for the first time. ThePagel, I still have the motherboard for the Alltel S III, do you think you could use the power button from that? If so you're welcome to it!

Okay guys I'm sorry but I had to do this. I went back in and pulled the motherboard again, took the black power button and volume rocker covers from my black S III and replaced the silver ones with the black. It looks pretty freaking awesome. Just thought I'd share. Lol

Help with screen replacement

Need to replace my tabs screen as it has cracks and it's shattered in one of the corners. So far the tab still works but I want to fix it if possible. Anyone know where I can find a replacement screen? Is it easy to replace? Or is there anywhere I can send it to get it fixed at a reasonable price? Don't feel like buying a new device, wanting to eventually get the Note 3, due to a tight budget. Thanks in advance for the help and suggestions.
You might look on ebay for a broken one with a good screen you could salvage.

Seems like an option except that that's a Verizon model, and it does not have the headset cutout for the phone. My tab is the international model with he built in phone option..
