[Q] [Solved] signals not working in any AOSP Rom - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

AFTER much research and working i created this thread and hope u guys will help me to get signals in any of the AOSP rom..
i cannot get singals in any AOSP (cyanogenmod, carbon, PA, slimkat etc) Rom. it always gives me error com.android.phone has stopped working.
Things i tried
1) clear phone and message and other google related cache and clear date of there apps.
2) had seen somewhere, go *#*#4636#*#* and change from LTE/Gsm auto (RPL) to Gsm or wcdma only.
3) tried many firmware and RUUfiles (Link Ruu Asia , Direct Firmware link 2.18 from Xda , Which Karbonkat Recommanded
i also tried to relock my hboot and then install firmware which is in the karbonkat section.
but nothing work at all, please give me any solution

This is what i am using right now

Thanks @timmaaa for you so much help but as i told you before, i dont need that much list of RUU instead i just need a single file/RUU that i can use.

So just pick one from the list.
Sent from my Evita

Arrrrrrggggghhhhh! Mr timmaaa thanks for giving me this precious information i tried many of them or atleast all ruu.exe one and firmware.zip from many zip files. Nothing works thats why i need specific link.
Sent from my HTC One XL using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

If you've tried many and none have worked then I don't see how anyone giving you a specific link is going to help. It's not like we've got some super secret RUU hidden away that's different from the rest. It's like I said a few days ago, you've tried about everything that you can try. If one RUU didn't help, then the rest won't either.
As a last ditch effort you could try something else though, it only applies to people that have used a specific recovery but it might work for you.
Code:
Flash CWM touch recovery
fastboot erase cache
Flash older non-touch CWM recovery
fastboot erase cache
Flash twrp 2.6 recovery
fastboot erase cache
Factory reset in TWRP 2.6 recovery
Then wipe everything and flash your ROM
Before you ask, I don't have links to the CWM recoveries, you'll have to do some searching yourself for that.

Did you tried changing your band after *#*#4636#*#*?
you can find that in the menu (Select Radio Band) after *#*#4636#*#*. Which Network provider you are on?
I know this problem is too annoying and I also suggested this in PA Q&A Thread.

Yeah I tried 4636 method it always came to auto LTE/CDMA RPL again I think

Thanks @timmaaa for your precious time and others and I think I sorted out the issue, what I did is, taken my sim from my friend and it works in AOSP ROM.... So the issue is maybe if my sim.

Stock T-Mobile rom

Does anyone know of a stable stock TMO US ROM without the T-Mobile apps?
For some reason I keep getting random reboots on CM10 and don't care for any of the other ROMs for the one S. Just gonna revert back to what the phone was built on.
I am pretty sure I have the One S from launch date, but how can I be certain which version of the One S I have?
Thanks
Sent from my HTC One S using xda premium
You can remove the T-Mobile apps with titanium backup. So if you made a nandroid just flash back to that and use tb to uninstall apps you don't like.
Your profile says you are in Dallas..I'm in Austin and I have the s4. I think that is/was the only version sold in the US

Just fine the RRU for your update to your phone it should be 2.35 RRU google it should be the first one ^_^..but if you updated from dec 10 and up you have to wait for the new RRU from Football
Or if you made a nandroid you don't have to run ruu which requires you relock bootloader...

Alright, well, I need help.
From my understanding of reading, i need to relock the bootloader, get into fastboot and run the exe.
Every time I run the exe the damn thing closes on me. Doesn't go into "not responding" or errors out or anything, just fracking closes.
Now that the bootloader is locked I can do anything with the phone lol.
Some of the posts I came across said that they found that if you don't have CWM as the recovery it fails, but other posts nixed that idea saying it doesn't matter. Is there any truth to that?
EDIT: the 2.35 RUU closes without warning the 1.53 RUU goes into not responding.
EDIT #2: Was able to unlock the bootloader again, flash the latest nightly and now im back on CM10 with a brandnew phone and factory reset to nothing. What do I need to do to be able to successfully run the 2.35 ruu...?
Are you running windows or linux on your pc..??
Sent from my HTC One S Special Edition using xda premium
Windows.
I have the ability to do so in Linux as well if need be.
I can provide you the latest nandroid backup if you want restore it in twrp or cwm then get the boot.IMG from the ruu , open ruu , goto temp files, find the folder which contains the extracts of ruu and then open the Rom.zip in there , there you will find the boot.IMG , flash it in fastboot , flash stock recovery , relock bootloader. You're as good ruu , or if you want I can do the ruu manualy for you on teamviewer pm me !

Yeah. But be forewarned, you may need to downgrade your hboot in order to flash the wifi partitions. Your only other option is to relock your bootloader, run a more current compatable RUU (ex: 2.35 version) unlock again and then flash the rom.
But yes, start on the viperROM thread. Also, check in the original post under the FAQ section as well. There is some discussion there about this.

Of your s-on you'll have to relock your boot loader to run it. (fastboot oem lock then fastboot erase cache then fastboot reboot RUU once rebooted with silver/grey HTC logo then start RUU on computer)

Map/GPS CM10.0 constant signal drops

Recently Google updated the Maps application and ever since they updated the map application I seem to have problems with keeping my signal now and it only happens when I'm using Google Maps. Has anyone else ever seen this issue and possibly fixed it?
Edit: I forgot to mention that occasionally the phone will reboot because of this issue.
Sent from my AT&T HTC One X Evita S-Off running CyanogenMod 10
I used it today on 10.1 3.4 kernel no issues..
Sent from my One X using xda app-developers app
I have a different kernel. I thought when you install a ROM it installed the kernel for that ROM is that not the case?
Edit: could the kernel be the cause of all this?
Sent from my AT&T HTC One X Evita S-Off running CyanogenMod 10
Yes it does. I'm just saying that it's working for me. Try wiping app data?
Could be anything. Try wiping the app data if stoll not working try factory reset in recovery, if still not working try clean flash. With latest twrp
Sent from my One X using xda app-developers app
So far I have what I have done is to clear the cache uninstall the program entirely then reinstalled it the only other option is to reinstall the entire ROM is far as I can tell. Which brings me to my next question how do I go back to AT&T stock? The reason I ask is ever since I've switched roms everything just is screwing up and with the stock AT&T rom things actually worked.
Edit: Google speech to text typos.
Sent from my AT&T HTC One X Evita S-Off running CyanogenMod 10
Most likely you're using twrp between 2.4 and 2.5 only 2.3.3.1 and under and 2.6 wiper properly and you probably never fastboot erase cache after installing a new recovery.
In any case to go stock, s-off then Ruu.
Sent from my One X using xda app-developers app
I believe you're right my TWRP is 2.5.0.0. About the cache after installing the ROM I am a little unfamiliar with. I already have the bootloader unlocked and I have s-off so I guess it's just a matter of using the AT&T ruu? Will that conflict with the custom kernel and TWRP?
Edit: typos. also I was having a little bit of difficulty understanding what your saying in your previous post about the versions. which version should I have installed?
Sent from my AT&T HTC One X Evita S-Off running CyanogenMod 10
2.6 is now stable but previously all versions above 2.3.3.1 would not wipe properly causing issues.
Whenever you flash recovery it is advisable to do fastboot erase cache after. Not always necessary but it takes a few seconds and can save you loads of issues.
Yes an Ruu will work so long as you are s-off. If you're not s-off you'll brick.
Sent from my One X using xda app-developers app
Thanks I appreciate the assistance perhaps reinstalling CyanogenMod 10 will fix the issue.
Sent from my AT&T HTC One X Evita S-Off running CyanogenMod 10
This past weekend I upgraded the recovery and I reinstalled CyanogenMod 10 and tested the GPS this morning and it doesn't seem to have been fixed. Could there just be some sort of incompatibility with the newer version of maps because it was working on an older version of maps?
Edit: Google speech to text typos.
Edit 2: Also the RUU doesn't seem to work either.
Edit 3: After changing ROMs to Viper XL the GPS started working fine. So I believe that CyanogenMod 10 has some sort of compatibility issue with the latest version of Google Maps.

If you are s-off you can just run the ruu, flash recovery through fastboot , and then flash a ROM.

Yea thats what I always thought, was just bein sarcastic.. So for the sake of the thread and the O.P. To retain root you would have to flash recovery after running the RUU correct? Because the gentleman that I was originally responding to stated that theres no need to flash recovery, that the RUU does this for us...
Yes you need to flash TWRP again after you run an RUU. The RUU only flashes the stock recovery.

Ya I used that one click tool for XL to get the recovery..now on to further questions instead of making a new thread i decided to reuse this one.. anyways after I got through all that i decided to go ahead and flash some custom roms and ended up with the same results when ever someone sends me pics or videos through text, they will download fine until i connect to a wifi, then i get an error saying "couldn't download now, please try again later. Even when I disconnect from the wifi i get the same error and sometimes will not even get data untill I wipe and re flash but everything works fine with the stock rom.. what could cause this i have tried messing with the data options in settings and nothing works. rom's I have used are
Root box
slim bean
xylon
all of them have acted that same and all use the 3.4 kernel. so I'm stuck on stock until i can figure out whats going on :crying: so any help is greatly appreciated :good:
I've never used WiFi with those ROMs so I'm not sure. But are you sure your apn settings are correct? Also, have you tried toggling airplane mode on and off after disconnecting from WiFi?
Sent from my Evita
Ya tried the apn settings and no go also airplane mode toggle will bring back 4g most of the time but still can't download any mms messages
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Faults like this are usually caused by incorrect apn settings but I could be wrong.

Is this on AT&T or a different carrier?
Am I reading correctly, WiFi data works in general, mobile data works in general, just mms is not working?
Yes wifi data and mobile data work but mms won't download with either on custom roms only but will work fine on stock
