Swap Internal SD with External USB HDD? - Android Stick & Console Computers General

right now am limited to the 8gb internal storage (cs918), i have seen apps that claim to swap the internal sd with an external sd but even the biggest sd card is 128gb max
external hdds are much cheaper and offer much more storage. can get a 1tb usb hdd for the same price or less than a 128gb sd card
is it possible to swap the internal sd card with an external usb HDD?
hope that makes sense

two things
all android boxes, especially the RK's, have a dead slow internal storage, and every external sd card or USB will give you twice the speed at least, so i feel your pain.
what i was told, the only way to do it is to fiddle with vold.fstab
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2346389
however, i have never tried it.

[Q] does G2x have built in 16gb storage?

I think the spec says it has built in 16gb storage but I see my G2x shows only 5.77gb. Am I missing something?

There is 8GB of storage built in. It is partitioned to allow space for the Android OS, with the remaining memory for storage. The device memory itself can be expanded by a 32GB micro sdhc memory card, but the phone does not come shipped with one, so you would have to purchase it.
Yea 8gb internal and supports up to a 32gb using an expandable SD card slot.

MicroSDHC not recognized...

When i got this tablet, it came with a 16 GB Lexar Micro SDHC card. The only problem is that my TF-101 doesn't recognize it even though it says preparing External Storage. I have a SD card adapter, but idk if it will work with a SDHC, so idk if I can format it to Fat32. Any ways to solve this?
Plug it into a PC if you can, and check what filesystem its formatted as. Then try reformat it to fat32.
And just to clarify, the "HC" part in SDHC simply stands for "High Capacity", which generally means SD cards larger than 2GB.
Some devices can have issues with certain SDHC cards (like my Wii and my N7B), but to my knowledge TF101 is not one of those devices.
Of course, that said, that doesnt mean some weird china-knockoff brand will work, but Lexar isnt that bad and shouldnt pose any issues imo.
So uh, yea, try reformatting it to fat32.
I've several MicroSD cards. One of them, a 16GB one, is unable to work with TF using internal slot. The card works in my PC under Linux and/or Win7, but NOT in TF using internal slot. If I plug an external SD reader in the dock USB port, card is read without any problem.
Of course my other cards work like a charm with internal slot. Why? I don't know.
My solution: use this 'special' SD microUSB card in other device and buy a new one with my TF.
My Lexar 32gb class 10 quit working suddenly as well...the past couple of days it has not been recognized when in the micro SD slot BUT when I put it in an adapter and insert it in my dock it will work just fine. The only thing I have changed was update to the latest OC ICS kernels...wonder if that's the issue?

[Q] Internal MicroSD Card Reader For PC

Does anyone know of an internal (preferably, external can be used) card reader that will fit in to a 3.5" or 5.25" drive bay and supports MicroSD cards without an adapter? I hate using the MicroSD to USB adapters or the SD to MicroSD card adapters because half the time they don't make a good connection and I'd like to cut out the middleman if possible.

New Mobile External SD and Micro SD card reader for android phones

Guys,
Seems there is a SD and Micro SD device for funding in kickstarter called uGo or muGo device that sticks to the back of your phone. It says they has an auxiliary micro USB for charging and syncing. Has anybody looks at it!!? They claim it works with any android 4.1.2 phones.. Did anybody try something like this before?
Search for Micro SD in kickstarter its the one that says uGO Expandable SD and Micro SD Storage

problem with micro sd on tablet

i formatted a sandisk 64gb micro sd to put into my tablet and start copying files to the micro sd via the memory card reader, there is nothing on the card prior to transferring the files but as soon as the green bar goes up it cancels and gives a 0x80070037 error with unrecognised device and prompts me to check the micro sd for errors, i proceed to do so and it finds nothing, i retry a couple of times and i get the same error, i try different memory card readers and cables and they all give the same error.
i then attempt to transfer my files while the micro sd is in the tablet and surprisingly it's transferring the files fine, i'm a bit confused by that and i was wondering if anyone can give some hindsight as to what is going on?
there is obviously a problem with the micro sd because i can't get any data on it while it's in the memory card reader and i will have to get a new micro sd card eventually, i'm not buying anymore sandisk memory after this, reason why is because my 32gb micro sd also by sandisk has the same problem, both brought within 9 months of each other, that's £60 down the drain, for now the 64gb will have to do till i buy a new micro sd card but this is just ridiculous, i wasted 4 hours trying to sort this problem out with no progress and i'm exhausted, any ideas or solutions would be helpful.
i've tested my usb ports extensively (so it can't be the usb ports causing the problem), and formatted the sandisk micro sd cards multiple times (to no avail), i've tried 2 different usb drives, and 3 different micro sd cards from samsung and a no name brand and they transfer the same data fine, but as soon as i plug in the sandisk and transfer the data to them i get the errors so i've pinpointed out where the problem lies, i just want a solution to sort all of this out so any help would be grateful.
if i get any changes in the situation i will update in this topic.
Just a update, contacted amazon and will be getting a refund for both micro sd cards, thanks god for that, won't be buying SanDisk ever again after that.

Unreconized device is it has lost connection to your tab. I've had the same problem. Installed a new usb 3.0 card and plugged into that, and the problem went away. if you watch my computer you will see your device disappear and reappear.

i tested out both micro sd cards on a memory card reader not from the tablet and the data transferred fine when the micro sd card was installed on the tablet, amazon have agreed to refund the 64gb sandisk but not the 32gb micro sd unfortunately i'm going to buy a usb 3.0 memory card reader and see if i get better results with the 32gb micro sd, not confident that i will though, just going to use the 32gb for something else till it dies, nothing else i can do with it, they can't replace it because it's over a year old and i left it too late.
just plugged in the 32gb micro sd card now and the memory card is not disappearing and reappearing in my computer like you said, the only time i get problem is when data is copied to it then the device disappears.
