Hello Mates,
I've been using HTC One X for quite some time.
But since I bought it, I've been hit with motherboard problems 2 times.
First, claiming warranty did good. But now, the second time, I'm compelled to pay 70% off the price of the phone to repair it again.
After some search, I've found 6 months used butterfly with 6 months warranty in around the same price I can repair my One X.
Since, I'm a HTC Fanatic, I would like to chose between these two ways.
Which would be the best. Does Butterfly also has some motherboard issues like One X and keeps damaging itself after long usage?
Or is it the perfect piece to rely upon for another 2 years?
Any suggestion would help me uncloud my judgement.
I would definitely root and install custom ROMs. Add this to your conclusions too!
Thanks in advance!

Dear forumers,
I would like to have your suggestion.
I thought to get a phone but as all phones that I want are kinda expensive even from 2nd hand. I thought to buy 2-3 broken phones from ebay and make 1 completely working. of course I'm not the only "smart-ass" but should I try to?
I have experience fixing Nokia's and Motorola's phones.
If in your opinion I should try, which phone would you suggest me? (I thought about HTC HD2 because it can run almost all OSes out there except iOS) Please do not suggest me an iPhone, my sis owns one and I feel there is something missing in this OS (maybe it just me)
so your thoughts?
Well if you have experience in such things, why not if it gives you a good deal.
I would aim for phones where you have to replace the screen, they are usually the most common broken phones.
I would check to see how much the broken phones on eBay are selling for first of all, to see if buying two broken ones would even be cost effective compared to buying one okay one. For example, one broken Incredible on eBay right now is buy it now for around $140, while a working one is buy it now for around $180, so buying two to make one working one at these prices would be a dumb idea. If you can find broken ones for cheaper and you think you can do the fixes I would go for it. Like the above poster, I think that phones with a shattered screen would probably be your best shot.
well I found another option, I found really cheap motorola milestone which is blocked (bad ESN), will it be hard to unblock and prevent any future blocking
Unfortunately, my phone has mysteriously gone missing. It would appear that it fell out of my pocket at some point (though it is inexplicable how it could do so), which really sucks because I had just gotten it set up perfectly with the new Ascension ROM from the Collective and was loving it.
Anyways, I'm in the market for a low-cost replacement, and would be happy with a used or refurbished phone in good condition. Anyone have any recommendations re: the best place to find that? I've looked on Amazon, etc., just wondering if anyone has personal experience with this that might help ensure I get the best deal possible without compromising on quality.
Thanks.
There is a sale thread here on XDA.
Craigslist or eBay are good alternatives but buyer beware. I think each of them requires some skill so if you have never purchased using them then maybe just ask around.
Did you try a Google shopping search?
If the repair costs more than $75 (and that includes having an "expert" do the grunt work) I'd look at grabbing another phone. I picked up my Inspire from Cowboom for $130...refurb and it didn't come with a charger but other than that has worked great.

Not my personal experience but remembered reading it. I replaced one from eBay couple weeks ago for $173 but I also sold the (busted to hell and back) old one on eBay for 78 bucks so ppl are still buying broke ones. For the gold I guess.
Sent from here using magic air wires.
If you have the att insurance on it you can get a new replacement one for like 50 or 100 bucks if I'm not mistaken.

Thanks for the advice - my friend found the phone outside of his house, in some bushes, and it had been rained on for three days. I think there's a good chance it will be okay, but I'm going to leave it to sit and dry for a few days (case off, battery out "doors" off) before I try to fire it up.
Thanks again, I may still need to refer back here in the future...
place it in uncooked rice it will suck out the moisture. Don't let rice in battery compartment. Keep bat and sim cover on.

Place it in some uncooked rice? that help to try it our even faster....
Another TIP
Get the androidlost app on the market. It's saved my a$$ on more than one occasion last week. Now, if I lose my phone and don't have a sense rom...I can look it up on the androidlost.com website for free and find it!
The lookout app also has a program with tracking your phone though it may decrease battery life
I got my att Inspire 4g from craigslist for $80. It is unlocked and has a clean esn, just a cracked digitizer on the bottom of the screen. I'm hoping its a pretty easy fix, just scared of where to buy a legit replacement for this beast. But it works so amazing regardless now only if I can find a good service provider for this.

I'm selling mine on Craigslist at the moment. I'm asking $195...it's in good condition. I just ordered the Samsung Note.
So after one and half years with my first droid, it died. Although I wanted to keep it for next six months as well but now I'll have to replace.
Can you guys please suggest me sub 200$ phone (New or Used) which has got good XDA development?

Before you trash it away:
Touchscreen and display are somewhat cheap on EBay: in past I broke mine, I bought them both of them and replaced them following this guide (it is in italian, yet, g-translate would help, and pictures speak for themselves, if you want to have a try): http://erkinson.altervista.org/lg-optimus-one-p500-smontaggio-e-sostituzione-display-touchscreen/
You just need the replacements and some good adventure spirit. Good luck.
Hello!
i have got a question:
My sisters htc one s has got a water damage. But i works mostly just fine. The only problem is that the battery is low very fast :/ It takes ca 0,5 days to completly discharge.
But the insurance now told her there are two ways:
1. She will get 230 $ and she wont get back her htc one s
2. She will get 130 $ and she will get back her htc one s
What d you guys think is the better way?

Take the $230 and get a new phone. A used but good condition One S is not much more. The Nexus 4 is pretty cheap right now. Just got a brand new Nexus 4 16GB for $278 to my door.

I agree with this option. Got a Nexus 4 8GB for $230 to my door (but I guess they are out of those, so you can go for 16GB for $50 more)
Get a Nexus 4. It's " cheap " now and you'll have a new and powerful device.

My Nexus 5 is getting worse and worse by the day when it comes to battery life. I have replaced the battery and factory reset but still am struggling. Plus, I'm not overly impressed with the HTC One M9 at this point, but I realize it's not on final software yet either. The Asus Zenfone 2 is also appealing, but who knows when/if it will be released in the US.
So, if you were to buy a phone today, would you still consider the OnePlus One? I know the next variant is expected in the upcoming months but curious what you think. I like the price point, especially for the 64gb of memory, but it looks like camera quality is still hit and miss.
I appreciate your thoughts!
Update: bought one on Swappa and should be getting it on 3/20.
I just ordered mine 64GB version for 299 Eur
Hmm Nexus5 to OnePlusOne maybe last year, but this year when OnePlus Two is near i wouldn't buy OnePlusOne, but if you totally need it buy it. It is smooth and looks so awesome.
I'd still buy it in a heartbeat.

I bought a used one a few weeks ago off of swappa for $330. Came with a case and 2 glass screen protectors. Love it so far, decided to buy another used one for my GF too.

Same here. Replaced my S5 for about the same price, and would do it again in a heartbeat.
Yes!!! I'm loving everything about mine (still a new user).

Just got mine today, loving it. I'd get a one plus two if it was exactly the same as the one in every way, ie 5.5" 1080p (dont need higher), 64gb of storage, great battery life and cheap. Rumours all point to none of this, along with the 810 being a hot chip. Even the M9 is a hot running device.
I have a HTC One m8, but seeing as the M9 is disappointing and I want a new phone so I bought it today, can't wait to get it! If I don't like it, well theres always toy phones to have
Yes. Got mine few days ago. So far, it's great. Now I have both Nexus 5 32gb and OnePlus One 64gb. It's so great in such a small price tag that you won't regret even if the Two comes in few months.
So if u consider to buy a phone today, definitely go for OnePlus 1.

Thanks for all the comments! I just purchased one on Swappa, now to sit and wait.
No, I wouldn't. The missing feature of mhl makes it almost completely useless with my app radio which I used heavily with HTC one m7.

Lol I got mine 2 days ago. And I must say, pros>cons on this phone. I absolutely love it. I don't care about the customer service and that it doesn't work as quick as people would like them to work. For the price of this phone and the specs, you have no right to complain about anything tbh?
I bought one , Broke it . . Tried the OPPO FIND 7.. broke and returned that.. now i just got another ONEPLUS . Love the easy customization and the ONEPLUS ROM Scene is busy..
oneplus one will be brilliant choice!
OnePlus Without second thought.
He had everything you have in Nexus 5 and so MUCH more, plus with this price tag it's a no brainer.
Just bought one a few days ago, coming from a fairly beaten up Galaxy S3 (no screen cracks, just dinged around the edges and crashes a random app once every other week or so) one big reason I switched is that even the new batteries I bought don't seem to last long.
I got the tempered glass screen protector with it and I love that, never going back to plastic.
I was worried if it would seem too big in my pocket - I would say, the S3 is a little more comfortable to have in pocket, but the OPO is OK. I basically wear jeans every day and they're not too tight, otherwise, it could be a problem.
It feels like a good solid quality device and I'm glad it doesn't get hot running Clash of Clans the way my S3 does.
The ghost touches on this thing are driving me crazy, it's going back up on Swappa.
I wouldn't buy a phone with Snapdragon 810 so I'm not looking forward to any of the flagship (and killer) this year.
