[Q] AOSP ROMs video playback ability - General Questions and Answers

Hi,
I have one problem with AOSP roms and I consider this as the biggest one.
I have a Galaxy S3 I9300 running Stock 4.3 deodexed, zipaligned etc.
Now with this ROM I am able to play almost all types of video files...Why is this not possible with AOSP roms?
I have always seen people installing different types of Apps (MX Player, VLC Player etc. etc..) to get all the videos playing...
But TouchWiz plays almost all types of videos out of the box...As of now I don't have any third party video player installed on my phone...
I am a big fan of CM, but refrain from installing it just because of this one reason!
Can someone please explain this to me...would be great !!
And please correct me if i am wrong...
Thanks.

Problems with decoding, help needed

I have adobe flash 10.1. Works like a charm. However, YouTube in any form, be it online or the app, skips directly to the end or does not play at all. Tried multiple browsers, no luck. LG Phoenix running Jelly Bean Stable Unofficial ROM for LG Thrive. Third party apps work well with FFMPEG on local videos. Decoders for YouTube needed. What do?

[Q] video applications and custom rom/kernel compatibility

Alright, so a little backgroud first.
I'm running Galaxy Mod RLS 16 and Lean Kernel on my I535. if it matters I have the note II camera installed.
Whenever I try to use a video messaging service, whether skype or snapchat, after recording the video it sends me to the review screen where I get a message from Android saying "can't play the video". My research indicates that this error is a result of not having the proper codecs. I understand that the codecs are not software like they are on a PC, so my question is where are the codecs stored on the phone, is it part of the ROM, or could flashing a new kernel help?
when I look at reviews for my phone in the play store they indicate that these apps should be fully functional.
I searched the forums thoroughly for an answer and couldn't find anything.
I really like GM RLS16, and wish I could tell Hero about this.
Thanks for the help!

[Q] [q] stock music player for wave 2 android custom roms

Hello highly respected developers,
My name is Nicolas and actually I am Using the Android 4.3 B.U.X created by Tigrouzen I think .. lol . I want to know if it is able to re install the stock Samsung music player with the 5.0 channel for Wave 2 on these custom Roms?? Because as everyone knows, there's no better Music player like this one even Poweramp, Maven 3D an so on... I tried all of the above but I still booting to my old BADA to listen to my music which is not so good for the battery because it discharge suddenly when booting back to bada and because I love so much to use android.
I know it s possible because last time I saw someone posting a stock music player of S3 Touchwiz for S2 devices. I know its not easy but I also know that for you guys nothing is impossible. So If someone can help to know how to install it or someone with a better Idea your welcome Thanks
Just install any other player. There are much plenty of them, that even better the stock Samsung music player.

I used to agree with you but I've since fallen in love with MX Player. Plenty of options and customization, hardware acceleration, and gives you the option of resuming where you left off last time (even if you've rebooted or something) or starting over. Plus, and this definitely isn't universal but I think worth noting: I have a bunch of videos stored on my desktop which I like to watch on my tablet over DLNA/smb (not sure which term is technically more correct here) and the stock Samsung video player would often trip or lag whereas MX always plays them nice and smoothly. In an honest side-by-side comparison in my opinion MX is a superior video player. Plus the best option if you're on CM
