[Q]Please, help with horrible video playback - CM10.2.1

Hi, since CM10.1 I am unable to play any video smoothly even YouTube and those recorded by the cell camera. The image quality is horrible, looks like there is no bilinear filtering applied just a horrible "nearest neighbor" algorithm, and any video player aren't able to play with hardware acceleration since with it enabled or not the performance and image quality is the same. I would post some pics, but I can't because of less than 10 posts rule .
How to troubleshot this? Any idea of a possible cause? Any help/tip will be appreciated

Can you try some non-CM ROM and verify if this isn't a hardware issue?

Thanks, tried the stock rom and it worked there, then I installed CM10.0 to see if it would work again and it is!

[Q] Chrome keep hanging on big part CM and OMNI

Hi
I can't post in real thread so it is here , I'm on big part from beginning (Everest XOOM) and at first everything works great but in last two weeks problem start both on Chrome and Chrome Beta.
I try dalvik wipe , cash wipe, try to use ART , try to reinstall both applications , to remove flash player and finally switch from OMNI to CM11 but there is still same problem
so if anybody have any suggestion it would be great

I install ElementalX-Xoom-2.1 ( full version not vanilla ) and enable zrom and it is better I can work little longer on Chrome but eventually problem occurs again ...

I also had serious problems with Chrome constantly freezing and crashing on my Xoom wifi upgraded to Kitkat Omnirom 4.4.2. I've installed version 33 as advised in another thread (a developer one that doesn't allow me to post there), using an apk file linked on that thread.
I haven't tested this yet but, assuming it works ok, how do I stop it from updating automatically? Any idea on how we'll know when an update appears that is safe to install, and will work?

Chrome Beta
I had the same problem too. Chrome on Omni and TeamEOS kept freezing. Only to kill the running app was helpful till it freezes again.
Then I've installed Chrome Beta (v37.0.2062.55) and since then everything seems ok. Until now no more freezes.
Maybe anybody else to prove that?

Simple fact of the matter is, KK is just slow on the Xoom. I'm amazed that we even saw 4.4, seeing as how mine (wingray) is over 4 years old.
I ran CM11 there for a while, but the constant freezing of Chrome and the slow clunkiness of the interface was enough to drive me back to CM10.1

CM13 camera - memory issues

Does anyone have a memory (as for RAM) problem with the CM Snap camera.
Every time I run and exit camera, almost every app gets killed, including launcher re-drawal.
Moreover, I'm working on a QrCode scanning app based on zxing, which after the scan should pass result to the app, but the camera uses enough memory to kill the app itself.
The problem doesn't occur on other devices, which all of them run stock OS. Tested on 4.2, 4.4, 5.0 and 6.0, so it's not zxing specific issue.

Yeah I am facing the same issue. And not just CM camera, even Google camera and Moto camera kill all apps in the background for me. I tried using different kernels but that didn't help.
But again I don't really use the camera all that often. I open it like once or twice daily. So it's not that big deal for me. Though I would love to find a solution for this too.

@adityak1303, well, I rarely use the camera, but it is pain in the ass when it comes to debugging the app

Yeah, on CM13.
Actually I own 2 moto g devices. One is on CM13 snapshot as my daily driver and other on Lineage OS.

Does this issue occur in Lineage OS?

Hi, not sure why there is no dedicated thread for this fine ROM, but for whoever wants to try here is some info:
ROM can be downloaded from the developer, innfinte4evr, AFH here:

Gapps that seem to work:

Installation is rather straight forward:
1. nandroid backup of current rom
2. wipe system/data/cache/dalvik
3. flash ROM
4. ******Reboot to recovery before flashing Gapps******
(otherwise you'll get bootloop...)
5. flash gapps
6. optional: flash magisk14.2, and any other stuff such as pixel launcher etc.
7. reboot
ROM is in early stage, maybe stuff as NFC is not working, but I have been using it daily and it works fluid, no random reboots, no freeze of death and so on
Customization is only partial (not so rich as in AEX4.6/Nougat) but some things are there. Substratum seems to work (tried only with one theme from xda labs)
As a whole, seems to work fine. Battery consumption feels the same as with nougat ROM.
External sdcard I could not change to work as internal, but I decided it is actually better as is.
Finally, not sure why the dev- who is making a great job- is not opening an official thread, but it looks like he is updating this ROM quite frequently, and as far as I know is the only Oreo ROM thst is passable for daily use, for most users..

Ohhh, but here VoLTE, Camera, Flashlight everything is working fine, even open gapps pico support without bootloop.
It's stable enough for daily driver

So... can we use it as a daily driver if we want? Moto X Play is the only driver I have but I'd like to beta test if the bugs/drains aren't excessive...
both cameras are working? GPS? are there any drains (always talking about excessive ones)?

I use GPS every day, works good.
Front Camera works- never bothered to check video, neither the front "selfie" camera.
Battery drain during idle (deep sleep) is minimal- but it depends much on which apps you've installed, and how much you move the device (breaks doze) etc.
SOT also depends much on you, gaming, screen brightness etc.
no volte in my country, can't comment on that.
But if you have a nandroid ready, you can try. Worst case you revert to it..m

No problem for VoLTE, I can't use it neither.
Well so the last thing I need to know is if the "selfie" camera works? I make videocalls and I need it

Both cameras work for photos, but if I try video recording it cannot stop (the stop recording button is not responsive). Didn't try some.other camera app (just the one bundled in gapps), though.

maybe you can try with Footej Camera, it's some of a guaranty

Volte works but I wouldn't recommend it if you have it as your primary number as 1) it breaks frequently 2)there is no notification so you wouldn't know whether it is working or not. ( i end up calling Jio 199 to check periodically).
Barring that sometimes when you are listening to music and get a call after ending the call your music will sound funny ( a toggle of the play/pause seems to solve this problem. ). Other than that it is pretty solid. Using it as a daily driver and I feel it is much smoother than the nougat roms.
It is an Alpha for a reason so you know TWRP Backup of your nougat system is mandatory. I was also wondering what would happen if i flashed the 7.1.1 stock modem but i don't want an expensive paperweight.

I'm using this rom and I can recommend this rom ( of course This is my first day with this rom)

Quick question: Is camera, both front and back, and gps working on this rom?

hey guys, is anyone having problems with WhatsApp on AeX 5.0?

Been using it for a couple of hours, the ROM works really smooth, and a tad bit better than the nougat ROMs. Can't comment about stability yet, will update after using for a few days. The lack of extensions is disappointing, but tbh, it's to be expected considering this is just an Alpha build. Still, would have loved to see the use of DUI here.

I use GBWhatsApp and WhatsApp, facing no problems as of now. What issue are you experiencing exactly?

Beta or stable one?
Btw it force closes itself just after restore the backup (or doesn't try doing it neither). I tried uninstalling, reinstalling but nothing, it's unusable. I didn't test the stable one yet because I requested too many sms/calls and I have to wait 40mins before test it again...

I was using the stable one, seemed to be working fine. Maybe an issue with the restoring process?
Also, while I never faced an issue with WhatsApp, my Snapchat seems to crash a lot. Though just clearing it from the recents menu and starting it again seems to work as a temporary fix.

Android 9.0 Pie Now Rolling Out (Update Pulled)

Hey everyone
Very glad to announce that the Android Pie 9.0 Update is now rolling out to Razer Phone 1 devices right now!
I personally want to thank you all for being so patient, I know this was a long time coming but thank you for holding on and sticking with the team.
Now go get your pie update!
PSA: Game Booster is broken.
I'll get this passed on asap but for now just reset game booster
(System settings>game booster> tap the reset icon on the top right hand corner) and don't change any settings for now.
EDIT 2: The update has been temporarily pulled due to the Game Booster issue.
I'll let you all know when the rollout starts again.
EDIT 3: Update is live again folks! However there's an issue with the do not disturb function if you have it on its making the camera force close.
It's been reported and hopefully we'll see a fix soon.

When I try launch game there is black screen, I can hear the sounds and play but the screen is black....

I just got the update. not happy at all. Don't like the new UI but even worse games don't work. Black screen and also the camera app crashes every time i try to open it. Doing a factory reset hasn't helped either.

Mine updated first thing this morning. Dont mind the new UI and not had issues with the camera (Google Apk or the Razer camera) but like you no games.
I did as some mentioned above and reset Game Booster and didnt touch the settings on it also put Cortex on as well. All my games work now but theyre all set to what ever Booster defaults are.
The only other thing ive noticed is i now get 4G+ which i didnt before.

Everything was working apart from games when i first did the update. Thought something might have messed up so i did a master reset on my phone. Everything still works even games with the booster reset tweak. Put the google camera apk on as well as better options than the stock Razer camere app and thats fine too.
(Update - just resetting Booster worked for a while then the games stopped displaying again so ive disabled Booster now and everything is working as it should be)

Don't suppose anyone has the update backed up for us poor people who missed it

Most things seem to work, do not have a simcard in it to test with.
Only problem so far:
Razer Camera app & Gcam FC.
Open Camera works with back lens, FC when switching to front lens.
Clearing app data does not help.
Reinstalling Gcam does not help.
Razer Camera cannot be uninstalled.

Left it alone for awhile, and all the camera apps started working.

I hope some enlightened dev can pull the useful bits from this update (if it is working) and use that to fix the quirks on phh's Pie treble build. I never got the camera working with it (I can live with the BT bug)

this build of camera work fine for me MGC_6.1.021_RP1_V1.3.2-BSG. it is in the forum (don't know the exact address). The only con I have with the pie is that the battery drains fast (6% in 8 hours standby) or it might be my phone which needs a battery change.
