I want to upgrade my N8000 to stock 4.4.2. I read that by doing that I will loose the option to go backwards if I will want. So, there is an option to flash new firmware with the ability to go back completely?

Yes you can root your tablet and install mobile odin app and flash 4.4.2 rom with mobile odin in this way you will be able to upgrade without bootloader update.
I'm already rooted. I just want to test official 4.4.2 and then decide if it suits my needs better then jb.
Is there any guide how to do it right using mobile Odin? I don't want to get hard brick.

Any stock-based 4.4.2 will require the new bootloader, and once you flash it, you can't fall back to the previous bootloader. But I don't think it's a big problem - 4.4.2 works fine on N8000, and there are some even better alternative ROMs such as http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2762418
And what about KNOX?
Does the stock KK for N8010 come with KNOX, and if so, is it possible to flash it without KNOX, or to remove/disable KNOX afterwards? Thanks.
And how to remove bloat ware apps before flashing the new kit Kat ROM?

Thanks for the quick reply man.
Yea i do not want to unroot. I rooted it to get rid of the bloatware. Is there a root for the update? Im guessing its ICS so is there a ICS root?
Look through dev section
It's pretty easy to root ics

Have you unlocked it? When you rooted, what process did you use? Since you said you're running JB on a Verizon SGS3, I would put money on your bootloader already being unlocked...
I want to flash the stock German JB 4.1.2 from my US ICS 4.0.4 using Mobile ODIN with ever root. My question is do i need to wipe my whole device since it is stock ROM and not a custom one?because i don't want to lose all my apps. I know i can back up with titanium but i would really not like to do those steps if not needed.
Thanks

Some extra features in Setting sections (display, sound, apps management, and so on), some alterations in keyboard's spacial keys (? - !) . the operations generally looks smother and lag-free, this is what I noticed.
Can we say these are minor changes? Yes, we can

OTA is nothing to do with flash counter .
But if you have root or custom/ non original rom OTA will not work . Use Kies update .
jje
I had no issues using Mobile Odin to flash the full 4.1.2 german ROM (with everroot) on to my N8000

I have the ATT skyrocket rooted and unlocked when I first got the phone in 2011, and is on 4.04. I remember that the post said that I must unroot if I want to upgrade the rom OTA from ATT. Is there any other way to upgrade to the latest stockrom without unroot? I cannot find the post I originally referenced to root/unlock.

^^ what he said. Just get the .tar file from sammobile.com and flash using Odin. You will lose root after this process.
If you want to update using kies (the update is not ota. You have to use kies. ) then s long as kies detects your phone and you have a stock recovery, you should be OK.
However, I believe that you will loose your apps and data with both the methids.. So just use Odin

Thank you very much. I should be able to re-root after the upgrade, correct? Or the lastest 4.1.2 cannot be rooted yet?
I have problem with Odin before, never got anything done with it. Let me try it this time.

Yes you can root the new jb using the same procedure as before.

If your rooted why not just flash a stock rom with the newest update. That will save you the trouble of dealing with Odin.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
Trouble? Odin is as simple as place file in pda and click start. I don't see any trouble there....

I meant it more of an hassle. Plug in Odin then uproot do the update then reroot. Just seems so much easier to flash a stock base rom.

Why would you unroot to do the update via Odin. I believe your logic is flawed here. Although I do agree an install would be expeditious via recovery, your argument is flawed.

Just FYI - I was on rooted stock, and just did the update with Kies without unrooting. Now i'm on JB unrooted as a result.
I rooted and unlocked the bootloader of my dads phone using the method found at this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046439
I did the root and bootloader unlock, but he stayed fully stock with the stock ROM. If his phone gets the MF1 update and it installs, will it brick or will he just be stock unrooted again?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
It won't brick but he will likely lose root access.

Thanks man.
I'll have him download Voodoo Root Keeper and have him protect the root in case. MAYBE it will restore the root.

Just flash bonestock or one of the stock roms and flash mf1. Will get better battery life and lose all the Verizon garbage. I had to flash back to stock to send my phone back and the last two days using it on stock sucks.
