Why would I want to root kitkat? - T-Mobile LG G2

I had mytouch slide 4g for like 3yrs,and was ALWAYS flashing new roms. But my g2 seems to do everything I want it to (Aside from titanium backup, but the play store reinstalls everything, and most apps I use put data in the cloud). So, what's the big benefits of rooting kitkat?

Soft brick the phone and going through the fun process of getting it to work again lol

Greenify is the main reason I need root. Running the g3 roms is nice also.

[Q] How 2 wipe without loosing Apps [Nexus S I9023]

Hey, since a few weeks i have the Nexus S and looking for a solution thats makes flashing roms easier. iĀ“m coming from the Acer Liquid and allways had an ext partition and the Darktremors Script for a2sd. For the Nexus S that seems imposible because theres no SD. I love trieing new Roms, but i allways have to do a full wipe and after flashing i have to download and install all apps again.
Is there a way where i can wipe and still keep my apps? TitaniumBackup is ok for backup but restoring sucks, i still have to press ok/yes for every app, i just want that the apps are there.
What do you mean u have have to press yes OK to restore a single app? Have you used the batch restore?
Sent from my A500 using XDA Premium App
Of course ive used the batch. But when i have 24 Apps to restore, i have to press 24 times on install and on finish. Thats what i mean with yes/ok.
I just want to wipe-flash-reboot and still have my apps there. Like i had on the liquid with an ext partition.

Buy the Pro version of Titanium for pressing the button just once
Ok, the pro version can do so. But no credit card no buying in market.
I think a2sd is one of the most important function when you flash a lot of Roms. That there is no way to get it on the nexus is disappointing.
How do other do that, when there flash a lot?
Sent from my Google Nexus S using XDA App
Get my backup root on the market. It's free for root users and there are only a couple of clicks.
But nothing beats the Titanium backup pro version

eh not really disappointing, if your flashing different roms that need full wiping you might need to take a step back and just live with your phone

How do I do temp-root? I just want to temporarily use Titanium Back Up to back up apps data.
Or is there any other way to back up apps data without full root?
Thank you

Yeah. You can do that one click. Forgot the name of the option though. But really, you should full root and then flash up some nice roms.

Removing Apps Question

Just got my S3 today.
Rooted it when I walked in the door.
I'm not new at all to rooting but I was wondering if using ROM toolbox was safe to use for removing Verizon's bloat from the stock ROM.
I'm trying to just stay stock here...

I run rom toolbox on mine and I have used it to remove apps. I use andybones rom and they are all gone anyway. I really don't remember if it can remove all the bloat or not.

I know for a fact that Titanium Backup works, used it the other day. I can't think of any reason Rom Toolbox wouldn't though
I just used Rom Toolbox to uninstall a system apk. (Only a wallpaper apk) bit o it worked. I usually use TiBu.

I finally rooted my Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 which is on 4.4.2. I got Greenify, SuperSU, and Titanium Backup. What are some recommendations or things that I should do now that I am finally in the Rooting Club

You have two of the best in titanium and supersu. Greenify is another good one also. I'd suggest a file manager also like root Explorer or even root browser free from the play store. RE is however not free. It's mostly a personal preference

I was able to get Root Explorer from Amazon Appstore a week ago when they offered it for free. I got the xposed framework and have been messing around with modules. Some of them say I should backup my android software before doing anything but how do I do that?

Alright, I just noticed that my flash counter is somehow custom. I haven't flashed anything, I'm still on stock. I noticed it first happened with Wanam Xposed when I rebooted it for the first time with it so then I uninstalled it. How do I change it back to official, or does it matter even though my warranty is expired?

Xposed is very volatile. In my experience Xposed runs fine as long as Wanam isn't in the picture. I said screw Wanam at 2.7.3 once it started fc all my apps. Had to nand to recover. But if you're on a stock OTA...I understand a flashoholic has to get a fix somehow lol

I hope I'm not hijacking this thread. I plan to towelroot my fully updated and locked down s3. Like you I was wondering what to do next. Backup sounds good. Do I need busybox? Will using titanium backup give me the ability to restore my phone if something terrible happens? Can I backup my backup to my pc in case my sd card gets corrupted?

Furthermore, which supersu should I get? There are several on the play store. What bloat ware should I get rid of, and how?

I'd suggest supersu and supersu pro and pro of course isn't free but really worth it.
Here is supersu
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.supersu
And SuperSu Pro
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.supersu.pro
Titanium backup also is a great app along with the pro version which in the long run is well worth it.
I'm not sure about busybox and titanium however, I'll leave that to someone who knows

Well, I am moving in that direction. Today, I revived what I perceive to be "bloatware". My (now rooted and superusered) es file manager was able to block the startup of some pesky "system" files that seemed unimportant. Examples are Yahoo news and stock daemon.

[Q] Suggestions For Rooting?

Could someone suggest the best (safest) method of rooting my AT&T G3? I've only rooted a couple of phones over the years, so I'm not terribly experienced at this. I don't want to flash any new ROMs or change the phone drastically. I don't even care much about removing bloatware. I'd be happy if I could just remove that stubborn circle clock widget on the lock screen and would really love it if I could restore the FM radio.

IO root (I think that's the name) is simple just enter in two commands
In the adb and that's pretty much it. Also I think the radio is a hardware thing and is only on the D855 international model.

I'd go with Towel Root. Its unbelievably easy and works perfect. Google towel root and go to the website to download the apk. Once you download and install, open it up and hit "make it rain" then boom your rooted. After that I'd download SuperSU.

This. Towelroot is by far the easiest and safest route. Doesn't even have to reboot the phone. IT JUST WORKS
Curious, I'm relatively a newbie, after Towel Root method and the phone is rooted what benefits are gained? For example, Is it possible after rooting to install an app for Hotspotting?

After root you will will be able to download apps and tweaks that would require root to run. Its like having full access to your phone and files. Like having admin rights I guess. I'm not sure about hotspot.

Thanks for the tips everyone.
About hot spots. I rooted my G2 and was able to tether whereas before, AT&T prevented this function unless I paid extra.
Not sure I want t o do it at this point because the risk/benefit isn't worth it for me. This phone has so much storage that the bloatware isn't an issue and I never really tethered as much as I thought I would. Too bad about the FM radio. Regaining that function would persuade me.
