24/7 Battery Level with Active display.. - Moto X Themes and Apps

Anyone interested?
I have the app built but think it could use some additional data to make it fun.
Update:
App is on the play store for a very reasonable price to keep me interested in updating it from time to time

That would be awesome! Is it an xposed module? Either way, I'd love test.

No, just a simple apk .. I might put it on the market or just upload it here.. Give me a few.

I don't have time to make the play store entry.. If you can think of other data you want on it, let me know

New version.. Reads the percent on the same line. Useful for multiple notifications on the active display screen
I am trying to find icons that will give somewhat of a representation of the level but can't seem to find any that active display likes.
Sent from my Moto X

nice app.. you should work on icons displaying the percentage (i think you are already on it)
and maybe some extra features like.. display the percentage only when the battery is less than 30% or more than any specified value..and also an option for displaying it only when charging...some customization options would be great.. thanks for the app :good:

Thanks for the suggestions.. After I figure out how I can get percentages on the icon, I'll be moving it to the market.
Are you saying that you don't want to see the notification unless it's above or below a certain percentage?
Sent from my Moto X

yes..
like, it should only display the notification when the battery is low than 30%
or you can say it the other way round, that it should NOT display the notification when battery is above 30% (30% is just an example)
this option will be appreciated..
and for the icons,
maybe you can use only white numbers, so it will look like (30) inside a ring (the active display ring)
I HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE ABOUT APP DEVELOPMENT, SO THESE ARE JUST POSSIBLE SUGGESTIONS, I DONT KNOW HOW MUCH OF THIS CAN BE IMPLEMENTED IN THIS APP :silly:
and you can use like, RED colored icon for lower battery levels..just some suggestions..

Nice work...thanks.

Does this simply run on a timer, polling the battery level and then displaying the battery level as a notification that active display will show?
This was my work
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/themes-apps/batteryactive-active-notifications-t2699157

Nice work!
It doesn't really poll the way I'd consider to be a battery drainer.. It just waits for the system to notify of a battery change and wakelock for enough time to post a new notification.
After dealing with all kinds of battery problems on this phone, was very careful to not have it wasting any unnecessary power.

I notice that it activates every few seconds even when I don't touch the phone why is this.

Active display turns on at many times, you can touch and see when the last battery notification was..
I thought it was activating several times as well. But, then followed what the timings are on the notifications
I think active display is more sensitive when there is a notification waiting.. Can't really tell you but I know it's certainly not waking up all those times to create a new notification. It's not the way the app behaves on a granular level.

I paid for the app in the play store. All seems well other than the weather. It just shows %odtemp° and the same thing for the other two forms of data.
I put in my zip code as requested. Also a reboot to see if that'd fix it. Ohh and the app update too.

The app already updated? That was fast.. I'll check to see why it isn't getting weather data.. You put in a 5 digit zip code from the USA?
I just added the Weather get in the setup. If you have problems, please feel free to post here. Sorry about the problems and thank you got your support

Yes. The zip code was for the USA 97504 to be exact.

What is 360_Guards_1 ? Isn't that an update as of today? I installed it and it seems to be translated enough for me.
Since 360 Guards is no longer allowing you to translate it due to signature will you be updating 360 Battery Guard again?
On the main screen the screen to choose mode: Normal etc is not translated..the same screen in settings IS.
I notice "Intelligent Savings" is disabled by default...do you find it works well enough to enable?
How well does it handle disconnecting and reconnecting wifi? (I have a tablet which is wifi only that I wish to try it on)

Amazing auto brightness app has saved my EVO

As we all know our evos have a tendency of killing battery and according to Android our batteries die #1 reason through display well I have found an amazing that is very customizable and has saved my battery tremendously its called lux auto brightness and it works great just thought id let our EVO comunity know about it cause its awesome and I just found out aboutt it and dev gurantees a refund even after googly tiny little 15 min here's a picture for how much it has helped before this app I normally got around 15 hrs

Well normally I get 15 hrs of heavy use and I'm getting around 20-23 so about 5 hrs

woah thats a huge difference!!! Ill test it out once I get armon working. These extended batteries are great! I havent touched OEM since lol
have pro version installed but i dont think i have it set up right cuz whenever i unlock screen outside it stays on 15% brightness and i CANT SEE SH*T on my screen...have to open app and hit auto brightness to see. So if you could explain how to use this would be great!
Just open it up go to settings set it up how you want make sure you add it to notification bar and it should be on auto also there's like 4 differnt options for it to change, I choose dynamic, there should be a guide when you first open app, but inside app if you click the gear looking thing on the dashboard it takes you to the main app and you can click lux splash screen and you'll find a tutorial there that is very helpful

[APP][UPDATE 8/31/13] KeepScreen v4.0 keep your device awake per active app

***DELETE***
This app is now outdated. I am going to re-write it completely from scratch. I will obviously include the standard features, but is there anything else you users would like me to add?
Very Cool ..
Thanks for the update
Cool, thanx for updating this little gem!
I used it but it wasn´t working more for me with ICS 4.0.3, so i switched to another app, but always liked the option to have the screen go a bit darker and not stay with full brightness.
Havent looked at your improved app but could you make the constant notification tick/untickable? I never experienced that the app stopped working, so i wouldn´t need this and i hate to have any icons in the notification bar
The autostart option is VERY nice to have! :good:
EDIT:
Just installed and saw there is already an option for the notification icon, great!
Working very nice so far, will monitor it and give you some feedback during the next days.
Thanx again, really nice to see this app is liked by other people as well.
Just wanted to say thanks for sharing that app....

This sounds like a great app that could be well used on certain apps that you want the screen to stay on, well done to both developers, now I am wondering as a noob and still on a learning curve, will this app work on a Galaxy GT-S5830i rooted device and what would be the best way to install.
It would be great to get some advice on this. :good:

First and foremost i want to give ALL CREDIT to the original developer of this amazing app. KeepScreen is developed by AxDroid LLC and hosted for free on the play store.
It has been forever since they last updated it and they were not responding to my emails. Their website also returns with an error so i am not sure if the company is no longer in business or if they just abandoned the app. (Its ashame honestly i love this app)
But there were a few quirks with the app. For instance, the app had to be manually started every single time you rebooted your phone.
Secondly i read people experienced the app would just stop working.. (I havent experienced this at all yet) But im guessing its due to android cleaning things up to free RAM.
Well i took it on myself and i was able to fix the first issue. After first launching the app and selecting the applications you wish to always have the screen stay on, and then launching the service, after a reboot the app will start again and you dont have to manually start the service.
The second issue i am currently trying to solve by placing a constant notification in the status bar. That is the only way to keep android from cleaning and killing processes.
The app is truly amazing, i have the Galaxy S3 and it has that "Smart stay" thinger where if you are looking at the screen the phone will stay on, well when im watching TV and i look up from my phone for a single second, they screen shuts off. I hate that, so i actually just use KeepScreen, set what apps i wish to always stay on, and then they stay on so long as that app is open and displayed on the screen.
Just download and install using a file browser.

Just two points for me:
Adding a widget to enable and disable the service and it would be fantastic.
Stopping the service when the screen is turned off (or alternative) because I saw my screen turn back alone (synchronization of a monitored application?)
Thank you for your work.

It has a listener receiver for screen off. Sometimes if you have an app open that you set to stay on all the time, and you manually shut it off, it turns back on. That's just because the service didn't shut down fast enough.
And I don't have source code. I doubt I could add a widget.
However I could write my own app that force close the service. (Almost like a task killer) but it won't be able to start the service.

I really loved this app when it first came out, but it fell by the wayside for various reasons.
Thanks for picking up the slack here! You'd think this is something they could actually build into android at some point. Apps that when on-screen don't let the phone blank the screen.
Tried it and it works great! =)

Its mostly useless because of this.
I used it on my previous phone as well, Motorola RAZR HD. There were options to enable data for those apps (I don't use Tango though), and I did.
In the end all it was essentially doing is managing my WiFi, and it made poor choices about that, disconnecting me when I was at home and using WiFi. It made sense to the app; WiFi took more power, but it wasn't the way I wanted to use it.
In the end, it didn't do anything but screw up my experience. I could achieve what it had "learned" and tailored it to my needs using Tasker but doing that doesn't even make a significant difference when I'd set it up for a better power saving experience so those profiles inevitably got deleted.
I should add that the RAZR HD is built to be sort of similar to vanilla Android, and that I trust Samsung a lot more when it comes to trying to optimise power consumption in its ROM without any add ons running, and that's quite a statement considering that the RAZR HD has incredible battery life.
I've had this app staring at me in Titanium Backup, uninstalled, since I got the phone and the urge to try it out comes and goes, but overall I can't really conceive that its a good idea to do so. There's no magical things that it does which can't be accomplished using other tools and most of those tools aren't really worth it despite doing a better job for the reason of the user having more control over what conditions need to be met for the functions to take place. The days of Android needing help with power management through third party apps are for the most part in the past and only exist on pretty old phones.

Yep. And I guess if the functions of this app were so great how it tells you in the description, it would be in the source code of the qualcomm's kernel itself. Maybe it can save some battery but only for those millions of unexperienced users arround the world, who doesn't even know, what android really is.
I would stick with greenify and that's enough. Everything else is the job for the kernel.

I let it run the whole learning period and just ended a few hours ago...
So it started saving battery... The phone was idle the whole time.
You see a huge decline in battery? Thats when the App BatteryGuru started to "save battery", how ironic.
"Google Services" seems to be the cause in here..
When checking Wake Lock Detector,
BatteryGuru is the most wake lock...
Question is, Shall I continue using it?
i started using this app with the adam kernel and ive noticed that my battery life has increased from 12 hours of use to 18/19 hours of use
im a pretty avid phone user. mainly music, web browsing, phone calling, text, games, and seldomly maps (in order of importance to my personal life
with the stock kernel i saw no difference

[APP][ROOT] Moto X Charging LED Control - No Tasker Needed! [v1.4]

So after seeing a few posts of people complaining about having to buy Tasker just to turn on the LED. I decided to help those people out and create a simple app that runs the shell command to turn on the LED on our Moto Xs
Of course props to whomever figured out these shell commands (please reply with who it is so i can give credit) and to the dev of RootTools
Once the requirement of the phone being plugged in for the LED to turn on is bypassed, this app could become a whole lot more. But that's a big road block.
In the meantime this will simply turn on your LED based on the setting chosen and based on whether your battery is fully charged or not. This app was designed for the Moto X only (4.4 rooted) but has been confirmed to work on the new DROIDs too (Maxx & Ultra)
Usage:
Select an option for the LED: heartbeat (pulses like a heartbeat), battery-charging (solid while charging), battery-full (solid when full), battery-charging-or-full (solid when plugged in), mmc0 (pulses based on disk reads/writes)
Select a brightness.
Save if you want to use your choice for when the device is charging or it's battery full - or hit both buttons to save it for both scenarios.
Scroll down and select if you want it to the apply your settings on boot then hit the execute button
Change log:
1.5 - Source code uploaded to github: https://github.com/StephenMilone/MotoX_LED
1.4 - No more crashes =)
1.3 - Fixed 1.2 issue of it not automatically switching from charging to full (hopefully - i haven't had time to fully charge my device to test)
1.2 - Added ability to pick different settings for battery charging and battery full
1.1 - Added Brightness options
1.0 - Initial Release
Have you thought about adding being able to change the brightness? echo # >/sys/class/leds/charging/max_brightness #=0-255

Works like a charm. Thanks.
I hope you or some of the other smart fills here can make this work as a notification light.... like maybe for ICQ?

Works great!
Had no problems getting it working! Thank you much!
Would love to have an option to flash while charging and solid when full... I may have to learn do this... sounds like fun.
What's the mmc0 option?
Gave you app some exposure on g+. Hopefully you can get more hits.

Great app and option! Does the LED turn off when fully charged? Thank you for making this.
nice
whats the heartbeat option?
@StephenMilone it would be cool if you could make it so that when it's charging you get the heartbeat, and when it's fully charged it stays on.

Works on Droid Maxx! XT1080
Confirmed working on the Droid Maxx, which unfortunately has a much uglier LED than the Moto X. @StephenMilone, do you mind if i post a link in the Droid forums?

I'm not sure, but use battery-charging and let us know! If not, I can add options that if charging do one option (like charging), if full do another (like none)

mmc0 flashes based on disk (storage) read/write activity.
Does this mess with active notifications? Meaning, if I turn LED on using this, do AN's cease? Thought I saw that might be an issue using other methods.

No, you're good. At this point, this has nothing to do with notifications.....only an led for charging.
