[Q] deleting apks is equal to uninstalling the appz? - General Questions and Answers

Hi
Don't know as much about the Android OS compared to windows (and I do not have google playstore (marketplace) on my tablet
Is deleting an apk = to uninstalling the application. (Yes I have access to /system/bin as my device is rooted) or is it more like the apk is the executable while the executed program is some place(s) else like it is in windows OS
What are the other ways of uninstalling an android app ( I know one is clicking the apk already in the download folder)
Thanks

Its best to just uninstall it, then you will get rid of its data etc.
I'm sure there are plenty of uninstall apps, I use ROM Toolbox.
Sent from my LG-VS980 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

No it wont uninstall the app when u delete its apk,
when u completely uninstall a app it will delete its data but since u dont have a google play store the apk will stay,
so whenever u want to install it again execute the game .apk but ofcourse u wont able to get ur last game data or atleast u have a backup of it.
U can install a third party app that uninstall app and system app but i know there's other way to uninstall a app without installing uninstaller app but it can only uninstall a app that youve downloaded but not the system apps. just search on how to uninstall an app depends on ur phone or tablet.

Settings app stopping again and again.

Hi everyone.
Running stock OP6 latest update.
Installed settings app from apk mirror and now the same won't open up instead keeps stopping again and again.
Since it won't open I can't uninstall it.
Anyone has a clue what to do about it?
Thanks in advance.
Edit. Same happening with dialer and contacts app.
Both updated through apk mirror.
Although Camera, Gallery and Files app work perfectly fine.
Anyone with an answer?
How to revert back to previous app version?
Edit : Finally had to reset my device and things settled. Although all my data is gone.
I suppose just too bad for me.
But I'm facing a pesky issue.
The files app shows no data but my gallery is picking up old garbage even after wiping the device clean. (Foolish of me not backing up the data)
PS I used the hard reset if anyone's wondering using the device's stock recovery.
I'll share the screenshot of the same..
Kindly suggest what's wrong with this..
i think u can uninstall app from the app drawer. long press the settings icon , and click uninstall if the options is available. if it isn't , u can re flash the whole rom by dirty flashing it. it shouldn't wipe the data.
As Azhar_Fahry mentioned, you can uninstall an app / app update from app drawer.
1. Tap and hold to get the options
2 (if OP launcer is updated), drag the icon to top (from app drawer) and you can select app info and then uninstall updates.
Alternatively,
You can install Link2SD and uninstall app / app updates from there.

Again system apps can't be uninstalled normally.
Secondly I'm not rooted to used link2SD.
I think need to dirty flash my phone.
System apps cannot be uninstalled if not rooted, but you can uninstall updates installed from play store or any external source. (You can reset the system app(s) to Rom default)
Attaching Scrrenshots - Follow from 1-end, click OK at the end. ( I am showing example of gmail, you can use it for any other systrm app too)
Naming screenshots 1-2-3-4-5 according to steps.
Uninstall updates to the settings app maybe. But if not dirty flashing the ROM will work

Most dual/parallel space technologies available on Google Play (or shipped with the device) make use of android's work profile implementation. But, this only isolates the user-level data. If you have already installed the app on one profile, any attempt to install the app again from a different profile will simply enable the app for that particular profile. In case you wish to completely remove an app from your device or reinstall it, you may need to uninstall the app from every user profile or use ADB.

Cannot uninstall an app which I downloaded from Playstore.!

Cannot uninstall an app that I downloaded from Playstore
I tried to uninstall the app
1. Using playstore
2. Third-party apps
3. Via adb
it'll show that the app is uninstalled but no.. I cannot install new version of the app / apk.
Please see the reference video. Thank you

Scan with Malwarebytes.
Scan app file with online Virus total if you can.
Bad uninstalls don't happen as much on Android as Windows but all it takes is one to screw up the system.
SD Maid might be able to clean it up.
This is a great app for unrooted phones.
If you can't sort it... it will be reload time.

How to delete a system file without root

i installed an apk app mod on my Samsung galaxy note 10+. the apk is an older version of the app but when i went to uninstall the app as usual to install the latest release off google play instead of downloading and installing it just installed the previous apk installed from google which i havent seen before. i have tried clearing the data and using app cleaners such as sd maid but its still installing the unofficial version. i also tried to install a newer version of the app from an apk off google and it wont install at all. i believe that after uninstalling the app that some of the files have not been deleted and google recognises these as the correct app files. using sd maid i traced to this path:
/data/app/~~HQ5E7AhU5J2CuBMCGbfjTg==/com.snapchat.android-PWYp8D9k00ttRuj98fIkTA==
im pretty sure this is what needs deleting to get google to download the official version but due to samsungs security rules i cant delete it. i dont want to root or factory reset my phone
any help is much appreciated
That's Snap Chat, is that installed or was it part of the Google app?
Try clearing the system cache from the boot menu.
System apps and systen privileged apps including their daa can only get deleted by ROOT, only deleting their related data can get achieved by a FR.
