Well I guess I'm gonna have to flash back to stock with Odin and get my new phone exchanged because it appears that I have a faulty headphone jack.
I've tried the stock ear buds as well as a couple other pair I have and music only plays if I wiggle the connection and the plug is really loose so something's not right. Grrrr
Totally screwed up my Zombie's run workout! [emoji35]jk
Sorry I just needed to vent because I've gotten everything all set up and now I have this issue!
I'll get over it though. [emoji13]

I have had 2 S 5s and both of the headphone jacks sound horrible from day 1. Good luck.

I believe he meant why do you say its blown. Weird is a completely non-descriptive term. If you provide a better description it would be much easier to help you. Also, I'm not aware of spare speakers for the SNS.

Normal. Blown would be heavily distorted sound from all volumes. The crackles are normal> If you aren't happy with that, go do a swap. Or get a whole new phone together... Seriously, if I continue to have problems, I'm gonna drop it completely and go back to BlackBerry.
I. May wait till another android phone attracts me thence ill swap

I think mine just blown today.
My text rings started crackling.
Then all my sounds would stop, then little keyboard ticks would be fine, shutoff sound fine. then again rings crack etc.
Well I go play music and it's crackling like crazy, then goes on/off.
I BLOW into the speaker while music is playing and it "works" better.
Anyways now, it's really dead unless i use an air can to blow on the speaker and it'll make sound.
Blown.
Guess I'll make a claim for my SquareTrade warranty

I could help you better if you typed this in English, but since this is the best I got I will give it a chance. Have you got it wet. It may be water damage.Try rebooting your device. If that doesn't work blow out the headphone hole to clear dust. If that doesn't fix it its a hardware issue and you will have to take it back to AT&T and get a new one.

You probably aren't pushing it all the way in. You gotta push it all the way in to get the most pleasure. I know it's really tight at first, but that's generally the way it goes. She'll loosen up with time.

The sound on my phone isn't functioning properly when I plug in any headphones. I know the headphones are just fine because they work normally when plugged into a computer. I have been having this problem for a few days, almost a week now. The thing is, whenever I plug in a set of headphones, the sound is messed up. Is there a problem with my phone?

Had this issue on ics . In the other ROMs i noticed that the volume becomes very less after some time ( not mute though ). Reboot as usual fixes it.
i also have similar issue. sometimes audio doesn't work in music player/games. then i pause the player/game, go to home and increase phone volume using vol. up key. it usually fixes the issue

My guess is you have lint stuck in there. If you keep your phone in your pocket, especially with jeans and similar materials, lint tends to find its way into the jack. I get this all the time, and audio cuts in and out, and you sometimes have to force the plug in hard to get it to work at all. Turn the phone off and pull the battery out (really, do it) then bend a small paper clip so it is strait with just a little hook on the end, and carefully use it to pull the lint out of the jack. A bright light is helpful in the process. If I am right, you will be amazed at how much you can pull out, and if you get it clear it hopefully will work again.
I found out if you have your ringtones to vibrate or mute, the sound will stay working. So in other words, keep your phone on either and you'll be good . It's something to do with JB. I did some searching and came across a thread somewhere on xda saying it's something with custom JB ROMs across all devices, even nexus devices. What happens may vary, but in the end JB has audio issues

Yeah. I had the issue for the LONGEST time, now it is working fine 24/7, like I have all sounds working no problem. If it starts doing it again, I'll post here to let you guys know. If it doesn't **** up again, then all I can say is for anyone who get the issue, just stick to vibrate only for notifications and your other sounds (music, etc) will work fine.
I don't know if it matter's or not, but I am running the PAC-man ROM, the most recent v4 6/12/13. It might even be something with the default notification sounds being used. I am using sounds for my notifications from Zedge.
So yesterday a friend of mine took my phone and plug it into an audio system with a 1/8 cable to a mixer, and ever since that happend i cant talk via the microphone i have to put the call always on speakerphone, if i go to youtube i cant hear the sound of the videos even if i plug a headset or headphones. So what do you guys think happend?
What rom are you on?

Do you think a root and custom build would fix the problem?
Im thinking that it could be something wrong with the motherboard or the microphone piece.
Not necessarily however backup everything you want to keep and using the heimdall one click to stock flash back to stock. If doing that do not help then its probably a hardware issue. It could be there was something in the headphone jack that is causing it to think the speakers are still plugged in. Pickup a can of compressed air and carefully blow into the jack and see if anything comes out. The other option is to take the phone apart and blow the jack with the phone apart.
