[Q] updating of Samsung galaxy s2 - General Questions and Answers

can i direct flash the updated flash firmware on my samsung galaxy s2... now it has android 2.3, but i cant update it with my wifi and 3G network... so someone help me that updated firmware can directly work on my phone????

If you use Odin, you need files, phone, datacable, computer, USB drivers for Samsung installed in PC.
Or try using kies and at the time of upgrade do in aeroplane mode...for no disturbance

You need root to use Mobile Odin.
Yeah, I found out myself after trying.
It closes after checking root permissions.
So again stock with same question, how to root without connecting to a pc ?

my bad...yes you do require root to use odin...there is z4root to root witout pc but i dont know if it really works....its pretty outdated i think
According to me, z4 root only worked on froyo. Only tool I found that could work on gingerbread was ginger break. But the exploits don't seem to be working.
It gets stuck on the screen saying 'running exploit, please wait'.

I have tried using Mobile Odin Pro v3.65 on GT-P6200. Wipe data and cache, and EverRoot doesn't work. Making my tab bootloop when downgrading OS and unrooted.

Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. You're going to have to get the device recognized on your pc then flash the stock firmware in Odin.
What version of the S4 do you have?
See this for usb drivers, http://www.xda-developers.com/universal-naked-driver-solves-your-adb-driver-problems-on-windows/
And uninstall kies

Gotcha, you're still going to have to flash the factory image with Odin. People in this thread should be able to help you, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494423
