Hi. Is anybody else having issues with the 3G icon being displayed, despite having no data connection? I get this on occasion, and my only solution has been to cycle airplane mode and hope it connects to the 4G network. My best guess is that my connection is poor, and 3G is just an indicator that it's connecting, not actually connected. I'm on stock, S-off, root and TWRP recovery. Any help would be appreciated, or anyone else having this issue so I know whether or not I'm alone.

I posted this in the CoreDroid thread, but no one has given any illumination. I also searched and didn't see anything pertinent. SO, here it is for general consumption:
I didn't see a solution to this issue so, maybe someone can say they've had it too, and maybe help me fix it.
Whenever I enable hotspot, it switches my phone to 3G and it won't switch back to HSPA+ unless I cycle airplane mode to reconnect to the network. Any ideas?

Thanks for your help. Also, I did confirm in network settings. Usually the network type is HPDSA, but if I use the hotspot it will be UTMS until I cycle airplane to get a fresh network connection.
is anyone else having an issue where if you drop wifi 3g/4g won't pick up and says network not available? If I reboot and leave wifi off then network is back.
Currently I'm experiencing the following annoying problem:
My phone keeps loosing connection to my provider (KNP, NL) in areas with normally full signal strength (city center, rural areas everywhere). When I put my phone in airplane mode and switch airplane mode off again, the connection is back.
After posting this problem on a Dutch (tech)blog I got responses that people experience the same problem with their Nexus 5.
This error happens with different Roms.
Anyone with tips / more insight?
Hello All,
I am trying to connect to my work network with no luck! Prior to the one plus one I had a Nexus 5 that connected with no issues. This is what happens:
1. Choose connect (password is saved)
2.The text under the SSID goes from "connecting" back to "saved" in less than a second. The signal bars show 3 then drop to 1.
I've tried forgetting the network, flashing different ROM, kernel, modem with no luck.
Turned off "Avoid poor network connections" and "Wi-Fi optimization:
With the Wifi analyzer app the connection is steady around -60 to -50 dBm. If I try to connect using the wifi analyzer app it just stays on "Authenticating". I know the password is correct, I've re-entered it multiple times.
The wifi network is using the 2.5 ghz band, channel 1, and WPA authentication.
I haven't tried connecting with a static IP, however I might try this next.
Any ideas, this is driving me nuts! Plus all the iPhones around me get to brag!
Thanks in advanced.
I'm having the same problem, and it also seems to stumble connecting to data networks. I have been toggling airplane mode on/off and it then finds the wifi and data networks. This is annoying as hell, when it should auto find and lock any network it has remembered and passwords are correct.
Does anybody have a fix, or is there a radio that can be flashed to correct this?

I'd love to hear any resolutions to this issue as well... I posted this in the oneplus forums recently:
"I am having this problem too with my mom and dad's OPO . But what's funny is that it doesn't happen to my OPO. This sort of rules out any WiFi/router/network issues. Is it possible that certain installed apps on their phones may render the wifi to be unstable (e.g. permission settings for these apps?) Any help from the community is appreciated, thanks... this is an annoying problem for them as it drains out their LTE data!"
Hi,
I'm having some really annoying issue with my phone, when I select the Network Mode to GSM/WCDMA (auto connect) it is working perfectly fine but as soon as I change to LTE/GSM/WCDMA (auto connect) I lost 75% of my signal.
Of course without activating LTE I cannot access the 4G Network which is a bit annoying.
I also tried to flash the latest modem for my phone g920i but it didn't solve the problem.
Any idea would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Maybe it is caused by your carrier?
Check mine... its normal
Same issue with my S6 on Telus in Canada. Loses cell signal when stet to LTE or wcmda at times.
That's normal

This is because cellular repeater is a bit far from you try this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.staircase3.opensignal to see where it is. You will notice this happens also when you enable LTE/GSM/WCDMA and there is no LTE signal your phone will go in 3G mode (or H,H+, etc..) and the signal indicator will change. Sorry for my bad english if i made mistakes, I hope I was helpful.
