Wondering if someone could help. I have a Timmy E82 Android 4.3 MTK MT6582 device and been unable to fully root it with any tools, due to /system refusing to mount. My device is true 4.3 it seems.
I'm using:
SP_Flash_Tool_v3.1332.0.187
MTK Droid tools v2.5.1
I made completed all the steps to get a scatter, it created a patched recovery, which I renamed to recovery.img and put both the scatter and the recovery in the same folder.
But then I'm getting error 8038.
Reading here: http://www.phcorner.net/threads/fix-...sh-tool.64302/
And a few other places it suggests the issue is a mis match in the scatter file. What is it I need to modify in the scatter to get it working so I can flash a custom recovery? I honestly don't know what value the SP log is e
Also I read the pre-loader needs to be able to in the same folder, as the scatter and recovery, does also also need to be ticked during the custom recovery flashing process?
Please see my attached scatter file and log with SP tools.

An intelligent and peaceful mind(sorry no download)
First of all backup your Stock ROM using (MTK Droid Tools and SP Flash Tool)
prepare blocks for SP Flash Tools
** we only need your "recovery.img" but to be on safe side a backup is neccesary
Now extract CTRv2.4 to desktop
***
open CTRv2.4.exe "Start for MTK devices....." and select manual mode
***
copy your recovery.img(which you got from stock rom to Stock folder inside CTRv2.4) press OK
////////////////////
It will take some time to unpack
???????????
Now it will AsK for your resolution choose nearest or exact one;
////////////////
for lun file (I personally suggest NO) you can experiment with Yes;;;
//////////
maybe you get some error but dont worry we have new recovery
///
goto CTRv2.4 folder inside CTRv2.4 on desktop
and flash that file using SP FLash Tool (**please check recovery only otherwise you may brick your device**)
/////////
Now reboot your android into recovery
and flash SuperSu.zip (personally recommended)

Voila You will have Root next time you restart:laugh::laugh:

HI,
I accidentally choose Format+download in sp flash tools. Due to this i lost nvram (imie,wifi mac,etc). I flashed stock rom of xolo q800 and used sn wirte tool for imie recover. but still there is some issue in network sim and wifi signal.
My Q. is what are the things lost when select format + download option in sp flash tools. and how to recover them.
*Any one has xolo q800 stock nvram backup files /data/nvram or .bin file to restore in my mob.. Please upload it.
Thanks in advance.
Hi - I managed to follow tutorials (using SP Flash Tool and MTK droid tool) posted in this forums to readback Lenovo Tab3 710F, and managed to flash the ROM to other devices.
I have one issue thought, that /data/ folder is not copied along with the ROM, mainly the apps and their settings under /data/data.
My question : Which file when reading back ROM includes the /data/ information ? does the readback even pull that folder ?
Hi everyone,
I just got a cheap chinese tablet with android 9.0, i tried to root it with the available tools but no success, so i'm thinking of making my own twrp image, therefor this question: is it safe to readback the recovery.img file using spfalsh tool (and since all the scatter files of its chip MT6580 have the same address and length for the recovery.img file), then make my own twrp, flash it, and if it fails, reflash the "original" recovery i extracted? will this work?

You can backup the recovery file using MTK Droid Tools, yes, but you must install a custom recovery that can fit into the recovery partition. You can find the recovery partition size on the scatter file. If you want a bigger custom recovery, you must edit EBR{1,2} and MBR files.

MTK Droid Tools does not work properly with this tablet, it gives me this error
--- ERROR : --- TotalBytesPerChunk Not Found. Set default Page/Spare=2048/64 !!!

so, will spflash tool by itself suffice?
