led light and light manager - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After upgrading to 4.4.3 I found I still had no led notification working.
So, I installed light manager. At first it took 120+ mb and started to
drain a battery. For some time the situation changed and it is now at
about 4 mb. At the moment the app just vanished and I had to load
it again.
Does this sound familiar?
Best regards all.

Looking after your advice.
If you don't mind, what makes it better? I would like
it to stay away and keep a battery.
Best regards.

Nice to hear. I cannot say if light manager drains, since
on 4.4.3 battery seems to live shorter.
I assume we are talking about lite blinker version, right?
Best regards.

[Q] How can I use the LED flash for the camera with low battery?

Hey guys,
probably you have noticed that the Sensation won't let you use the LED flash to take pictures when the battery is low (around 25%).
I find this very annoying, since 25% is not less enough for me to have my LED flash blocked.
Especially since I have to use the LED for pictures at night, where my battery is usually low, this function is absolutely stupid.
Is there a way to turn this off, so that I can use the LED to take pictures no matter how much battery charge I have?
PS:
Still looking for a way to turn off textreflow permanently:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1225611
The easiest way is to just download one of the thousands of flashlights in the market. The no LED light isnt a system wide thing it is only in the Flashlight app and Camera app. Download a new flashlight from the market and your good to go whatever your battery is.
I am wondering if there is a correction for this as well, not so much for the flashlight, but for the camera.
Could there be someting in the camera.apk or the prop build?
Actually the flashlight is not important to me, but the flash at the camera app.
Maybe I should have chosen another subject for the thread.
I want to know how to take pictures with the flash, even when the battery has low charge.
Settings/power/enable power saver....uncheck it.it works for me.

Hm. I have unchecked 'power saver' and when I have <30% battery, I can't use flash in apps and in camera.
So strange.
Very strange.
Am now on 6% and still able to use flash.
I know that 10 % should be the lowest point,i think.i didnt do anything it just works

It appears to be pretty random when your battery foces your LED to stop.
Once I had 37% battery and it told me that my battery is to low to use the LED light.
However it's really annoying. Non of the suggested settings here work.
I think this issue can't be solved without a mod of the camera app.
Any one having better luck with the flash on stock roms BEFORE the ota update? Just wondering if this is something else that the update broke...

What?
I am not a programmer, but I guess it would be possible to modify the camera apk in a way that it doesn't block your LED flash anymore.

What i was saying is i wonder if people are having more issues with the camera flash/low battery issue before or after the update, indicating that the update has fixed the issue or left it the same.
Has someone come out with a solution or a Mod for this problem... I have 29% and it won't let me use flash...:-/

I never had a chance to use it before the update, so I don't know, but it definitely has the 30% limit after the update.
So I'm assuming none of you use custom kernels. Faux kernel can flash till batt is at 10%. Not sure about bricked but I know its also modified

This doesn't work for some users.
I am having the same issue. Hits about 25% and the flash in any Camera app doesn't work. I can still use the flash with a flashlight app. Doesn't matter if power saver is off or on.

Miui naturally drains battery faster. It has many additional 'features' that take up more CPU resources and thus brings down the battery along with it. The reason the charge takes longer is probably because more battery is used while charging. It is natural to have battery draining fast issues with miui, still it is a great rom and I love it. Hope that answers your question

I'm running Miui right now, it may have most likely been a data issue. I tried Wi-Fi and the phone wasn't running as warm or hot. I turned the data to automatic instead of 3g only and things have been better. If you had/have the same problem then try turning data to automatic in the settings. Yes this rom has more features but I haven't had those issues with Miui on the Droid X/Dinc. My issue has been solved though, has been my main rom lately.

How is your N5 Battery Life ?

how is your N5 battery life discussion ? when you turn on everything such as bluetooh on , NFC on, sync on, gps on, and brightness set to either 100% or to auto, I wonder how long is your nexus can get through since you fully charged the phone itself from 5-6am in the morning . can it last till evening 10pm if the whole day you use it for texting , facebook, instagram, chrome with 5 tabs minimum , youtube, mail, reading news, recording video and take a snap from the camera .
a humble experience from all of you will be highly appreciate guys.
p.s = the reason why I making this thread is to compare with how good the battery with moto x.

I should be more specific, I'm talking about ordinary people. The people taking pictures using N5 and comparing it to the iPhone 5S are media outlets who have had prior access to the device (or early access from Google).
And honestly if they DO have the phone then they cannot comment on the battery life because it'll take at least 3-5 days (given a week) for the battery to settle in. Not to mention, you won't be doing your daily things on the phone as you'll be busy setting it up with the apps you've used in the past/transferring data/etc.

Its lovely but so is the black I got both here but prefer the white.
The OS is the biggest change, a lot has changed in kitkat. Different ways to access different things and the app menu is completely different. Battery life I got near 3h 58 with 10 percent left from 82 percent and that's from restoring all my apps and more so I'm kinder hoping we'll reach 5h or a little more. Screen is beautiful but speaker isn't great. Though I'm comparing the speaker to a 5S which is pretty good.

This thread is just as pointless as the threads asking for the best ROM/Kernel or threads asking when TMobile will have N5?
I'm not shooting anyones thread but its just a silly question to ask when the phone was released just a little over 24 hours when only <1% of orders requested has been fulfilled. The only ones with the phones right now are media outlets or the individuals who ordered immediately and live in a close proximity to the point that they can have next-day shipping pretty much.

[Q] Should I use Greenify?

I am on stock 4.4.2, rooted. Just want to know should I use Greenify to extend my battery life?
Is KitKat 4.4.2 app-cached mechanism not better than that?

Depends on your usage.
Might work for some, not for others.
Install and try for yourself, do some objective testing before and after to see if it makes any difference for you
Handy to control apps you don't use regularly from running on the background. Actual effect on battery life. Well don't expect miracles.

Well, don't discuss the battery It's good enough for many but not for everyone. I'll plan to use a recharge pack if I need more battery power. Most of the times I have a bag or something else with me so that I can put a recharger pack into it for the case I run out of battery.
Sure, a better internal battery is better, but I can live with that.
Greenify is a great tool to have so that you can have a broad selection of apps on your device without worrying about it weighing down the OS in bloat. Lots of apps unnecessarily start in the background or ask to be notified on state changes or when the device is unlocked, which can lead to sluggishness and/or battery life degradation. For example my banking app does this, and I never need my banking app to run unless I explicitly press on that damn icon. But I don't want to get rid of my banking app due to it's bad behavior, because it's truly a useful app. That is where greenify shines.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
I have a few apps that definitely will hurt the battery if left running...so greenify let's me still have those apps and not worry about them impacting my battery. To me greenify is on my must have list. ?
And to backup another's post, yes...the N5 CAN have battery life that rivals other great battery life phones. I get over 24 hours with 6 plus hours screen time easily. But...its all about how you set up your phone...and how you use it. "Average" battery times are hard to compare, since we all are setup different and do different things with our phones.
But yes, battery life CAN be brilliant.... Or it can be average.

Massive drain with no wake locks

I charged my phone to full and then let it drain over night. As you can see in screen shots... Massive drain occurred with no visual signs of the cause. Anyone have an idea?

Did you get any shots of the Kernel Wakelocks and Partial Wakelocks screens in bbs? That's where you would see the culprit(s). Also, do you ever do soft reboots? Some people (including myself) have experienced increased battery drain with no visible wakelocks after soft rebooting. Doing a full reboot seems to fix it.
