Firewater S-Off | Help Pls| Verizon | (M8) - Verizon HTC One (M8)

I am trying to get my HTC One (M8 (Verizon)) S-Off & Bootload unlocked, Here is some info:
Android Version: 4.4.2
Sense: 6.0
Software number: 1.55.605.2
PRI: 1.46_002
PRL: 15310
Problem:
I have installed the HTC sync drivers (Uninstalled after drivers installed) and have been able to successfully execute ADB commands through CMD, I can get all the way through the process until it gets to the chugging part, I usually get to 2 or 3 drinks before the phone just reboots and it just stops and displays my ADB directory in the command window (CMD does not FC).
Tried all (4) USB ports on my laptop using the OEM USB cable.
Laptop: HP Elitebook 8560P
(2) USB (SS) Ports
(1) 1 Amp USB Port
(1) Standard USB port
I have turned off the firewall and AV on my system thinking that might be the issue, Can someone please give me their input, I have been trying this for several days now and I haven't had a breakthrough. Thank you in advance for your assistance regarding this issue.

Did u temp root using weaksauce first?
HTC ONE M8?

I assume you used weaksauce... There have been a couple threads about this already.. Not saying you shouldnt ask by making your own.... I had zero issue myself but recommend removing any other phone drivers you may have had and start over. I read someones post where they had a previous phones driver that had caused an issue. Personally I used an old HTC thunderbolt cable (not on purpose) but it worked.

Try it several times. It took me at least 5 for the exploit to take.

Thunder, Yes. I installed weaksauce from the thread on XDA, I do not think there is any other phone drivers on this computer. How would I go about checking ? Thank you for the reply.
UPDATE: I plugged in my windows phone and was able to locate it in device manager, I right clicked and uninstalled. Going to re-run the process and check.

Yes, I temp rooted using weaksauce and then i proceeded to install SuperSU by Chainfire. I use "Root Checker" to verify that I have root permission and I do. I am getting almost all the way through the process with no issues but, It just stops after 2-3 drinks. I think thunder might be right about the driver issue. I have a Nokia Lumia 520 that i use for work and that might be interfering the process of S-Off'ing. I have to check driver's. Thank you for the response, I appreciate it.

You may try booting ubuntu from a live disk to run firewater. It may be a pain to set up adb, drivers, and all that on a temporary os but it would rule out any problems with your os environment and cost no more than the blank disk and your time.

IT WORKED!

This is a great idea all my PC's are running Ubuntu but the one I used to s-off my phone. Its really easy to setup with a USB flasdrive or dual boot without disturbing you current os. Never thought to try Ubuntu lol

Released this morning. Easy as pie and is working fine for me
Suuweeeet!!
but the bootloader is still locked and we can't flash custom roms right?
Will we be able to flash custom ROMs? Or will we only have root access to our current ROM?
We won't be able to flash custom roms just yet.
But it's great to use some of my favorite apps again now that it's rooted.
This method worked flawlessly on my ATT OneX. Win7 Pro x64...just install HTC drivers, plug in as Debug, and run the root.bat. I didn't have to kill any processes or disable sync or anything.
Only thing to watch out for is that the phone reboots multiple times even after the script stops running( like 4-5 times), so make sure its completely finished and you are at homescreen before you unplug it.

Doesn't the kernel have to support overclocking for it to work? Root is great and all, but without a kernel that supports overclocking SetCPU isn't going to do anything will it?

[Q] Rooting and more

Ok first off, I want to say that yes I have looked at countless threads explaining and asking the same thing, and none of them have been very useful. Maybe that's my fault, maybe it's just want I'm use to in the past. So I want to apologize to people who see my thread and go "Uuugh another retard". I don't want to be a retard or a jerk or anything of the above, but I just feel like nothing in the forums for this phone is as clear or well formulated as the phones I've dealt with in the past on XDA and I don't know why that is. Maybe I just haven't really learned anything from my past experiences
I have the HTC One X (duh) AT&T at software version 1.85, and I'd like to root it and do whatever else I need to do to get to the point of being able to load custom ROMs. My issue is that even after reading several threads, including the ones specifically about rooting version 1.85, I have no idea what to do. I've rooted phones in the past and never had this much trouble understanding instructions, and I think it's just because in the past the guides have always been extremely clear and explicitly stated what I needed, where I got it, how to load it, and how to use it. I've only done a few phones in the past, HTC Inspire, HTC Tilt 2, and an LG model that I've forgotten the name of.
So ok, here is this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1709296 What exactly am I supposed to do here, because to be honest the instructions there are terrible. I read through probably fifteen pages of that thread, and felt like an idiot because no one else needed help even starting. So I started looking around, and I found some other posts asking for help, but everyone had seemed to actually have gotten past the initial point. For me, I can't even properly download the su file because it has no file type and Windows is all **** you buddy give it a file type (I just called it a zip file so I could at least have it downloaded.) I also looked at this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1672284 thread, and I understand what to do here but from my understanding I should be rooted first so that's a problem yes?
So could someone please assist me with a properly designated and clear set of instructions on how to get my phone to the phase where I can do more with it?
I fully understand if no one wishes to help me, or if this exact issue has really come up before. I've been looking for awhile and just haven't had any luck at all. Thank you for your help if you wish to help, and thank you even if you don't. Have a wonderful day.
I rooted mine with by "faking" an ota update.. that is you have to go to att update (go to settings and scroll all the way down) and from the console push some files to the phone via adb and then hit "update" in the phone.. I can't remember the thread though...
Hope that helps...

OP has linked the correct thread for rooting 1.85. The only working method, AFAIK.
I was completely new to the Android universe and also had problems getting started, but it helped when I figured out what ADB was.
http://developer.android.com/tools/help/adb.html
Basically, what you want to do (per the thread you linked to : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1709296)
FIRST - install ADB!
Then :
- pull the SIM card (i didn't do this, but I'm just reiterating the insturctions on that page )
- do a factory reset
- do not connect to the internet after factory reset. Just go into settings and enable USB debugging, and plug the phone into your computer's USB port.
NOW, you can (via USB and the ADB tool which you've researched from my link above) run the commands from that thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1709296). So open up a command prompt (start->run->cmd on a Windows machine) and just type everything you see in the instructions in that thread. Doesn't particularly matter if you don't knwo what each command does as long as you follow them faithfully
I'd be happy to walk you through it. Your on the right track though. It'll have to be later tonight though. Pm me and I can get with you after 9pm mountain standard.

After its downloaded, will Windows let you rename the file so there is no file extension? My Windows XP system will allow it, so if you're on Windows 7, I'm not sure what the fix is.
Also, the root guide assumes you have some knowledge of ADB. As it seems your are pretty lost, I'm assuming you don't. Gunny's guide has some ADB basics (although I've been told even this starter guide is missing a few basics):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1754018
I rooted back on 1.73, so a different method. But I'll try to help as much as I can.
Also, if you haven't already seen my index thread, its got all the resources posted in Development, in an organized list. Your issue right now doesn't seem to be finding the right threads. But you may find it useful once you get unstuck from the root process, at least:

So I'm reading up and doing my best to soak up the information. I found adb and have that downloaded, and I'm reading up on how it works. After looking at it and reading about it I realized that I've actually used it before and had no idea it was the same thing (that was on my older install of windows and when I was messing with my Inspire). I will hopefully later tonight be able to actually go through the process of trying to get all of this done to my phone. I will update once I'm home!

Try google, or my signature, or glevitans sig., perhaps if banagranola shows up, you could try hers. To add some spice we could just hope guyinthecorner comes over, but he rarely comes to this side of the force. There, now that yoi have read some nonsense, once you try any of the above suggestions, you can use an ubuntu live cd to root your ohone with ace advance h.k. I wonder who else has the thread in their sig? Sashank? Muikkuman? I don't know, I rarely log on from my pc. Now I wonder if that fella found the answer among all this nonsense

[Q] One X Hard Bricked

Ok, so I tried flashing cyanogenmod on my phone and ended up with what i believe to be a hard brick... I'll go through what I did, and I guess if there is any way to reverse this and return it to working condition, I would greatly appreciate this information. First, I used the exploit found in the all-in-one kit so that the bootloader could be unlocked officially by HTC. After getting my bootloader unlocked via the file sent to me by HTC, I flashed my cwm via fastboot. Everything seemed to be working fine at this point; the phone would boot into both the rom and the cwm. I rebooted the phone and flashed the boot image found in the cm rom I was flashing on my phone. I rebooted once again, erased the cache and dalvik, and then attempted to flash the rom. It was unsuccessful the first time due to failed asserts. I had previously been able to simply edit the build.prop file and remove the asserts on other android devices to correct this problem, so I attempted to do this. I tried again to flash the rom, which began installing, and then resulted in the phone turning off. I am sure that this has everything to do with my editing of the file, but I am just wondering why it did not work this time, and if there is a way to correct this without expensive hardware. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

It's not responsive to anything now... I realize the device probably won't make a recovery at this point due to my lack of knowledge and resources, but I guess I'm more wondering why exactly this happened, for future reference. I mean, if there is a way to fix it that would be awesome, but yeah, the screen and buttons wont turn on, and when its plugged in the charge LED does not come on either. My computer can still recognize the phone though in the device manager, but it is called Qualcomm hs-usb qdloader 9008, and there is not an obvious way (to me) to access the files on the internal SD.

When you plug it in does it show charge light? And what is the file name you flashed? You should only download roms from here if it was a quad core Rom it overwrote the partitions and totally bricked it. Also plug it into a Windows pc and tell me what it's trying to install drivers for if it tries to install qhsusb drivers your dead in the water and need jtag or send it to HTC for about 200$ to have mainboard replaced.

As I said, the charge light does not show up, the file name was cm-10.1.2-endeavoru, and I don't remember seeing any drivers installed after that, but on my windows 8 pc (dont judge, its brand new), it shows up in device manager as qualcomm hs-usb qloader... Sounds pretty dismal, but thanks a lot for the input. Still wondering why this happened though.

This forum is for the evita. If you have the quad core and flash an evita Rom it bricks and vice versa. They are not cross compatable. Flash evita on international version u brick it. If you have the quad core you may be better off asking in the correct forum. I'll find you a link in a minute and update this post

Before I downloaded the rom, I checked and make sure I had a dual-core processor in the about section of the settings in the phone.

Well cm10.1.2-endeavour is for quad core so your bricked. You flashed the quad core Rom.

Not a idiot. Just keep in mind the two devices are not well separated on the websites. All available roms for our phone are here on xda. Dont even assume cm website will be that specific. I'd pm zarboz and see if he is willing to jtag for you. And it wouldnt hurt if you threw him a few bucks for beer or something lol

There were asserts in the ROM to prevent this kind of thing.

Yup, I did. I had done that in the past and it worked for my other android device, but I guess it wouldn't make sense for them to exist if there wasn't a reason. Thanks alot guys, I'm just starting out with this stuff and it's really good to see the amount of people who are willing to help newbies like me.

Viper ROM with superCID

I'm a little confused, now that I have S-OFF and done superCID, can I install Viper from the International version?

Apparently Turge is working on a Viper port to the VZW.
While the International version may flash, I would doubt you would have fully working device. I know I would not risk it.
That's what I needed to know. Thank you

I downloaded the ROM, the updater-script does have Verizon coding, so the ROM *should* (FLASH AT OWN RISK)

Although, I doubt things will work 100%
Thanks

I flashed the international Viper and all worked aside the WIFI, same with Maximus HD and ARHD. They all work just fine aside the wifi. I am on ARHD atm. Checking if there are other things tht don't work. I changed the CID to 1111111

But it seems it is not a "guaranteed" result some people are getting errors so you DO WANT to wait until they add proper Verizon support.

The fact that this is possible, two days after S-OFF. Makes it so cool.

Looking forward to viper on the m8. Been my dd on my m7 since I discovered it and absolutely love it. And I am never happy with a Rom for more than a month or two before wanting something else.
So I gave it a shot and I got it to boot up, but I got no data! Bummer!
