[Completed] [Q] help I deleted an important system app - XDA Assist

Hi,about last week I deleted this "package access helper" system app.and since then I have not been able to install apps.it shows app not installed.and also my app manager shows just the ash coloured box where it is supposed to show my memory space both on the sdcard and internal memory.after seeing all this my first resort was to format the fone but it didn't work so now I don't have any root explorer.
P.s.the droid is rooted and on stock rom 4.2.2.please help me and sorry for my bad english

@johnny phantom Can you please do a factory Reset ? Or better yet, reflash Stock firmware you had before this ?
Otherwise if possible, please extract the missing APK from the Stock Firmware and install in the phone.

hi.thanks for replying to my post
I already factory resented and apps still didn't install
I have the apk of the system app and I have tried installing but it won't.I was told that the function of the system app I deleted is for installing apps(package access helper) so I don't think I can install it as a normal app.if u were talking about installing with ADB please can you guide me through?

Move the App APK to /system/app folder then reboot to Recovery. Once in Recovery, wipe Dalvik and Cache then you are good to go.

thanks bro.but I don't have file explorer anymore should I use ADB.if so please type the commands I should type the app is on my sdcard..or show me a link to a thread that explains how I can move it using adb.once more thank you very much

You can visit the XDA University Tutorial {Tutorial} (Basics of ADB) For Beginners Part-1
That should get you started on the details of Pushing files via ADB PUSH Command.

So I apologize but I won't be able to help you with the specifics. You can post on the forum for your devices' Q&A Sub Forum for more detailed help by others.

thanks.I lld try and get back to you..and I don't have cwm recovery so would factory resetting do the trick of clearing dalvik cache

Yes it might. You might want to explicitly wipe Dalvik and Cache in Stock Recovery.

[GUIDES]Some support postings for MikFroyo Roms

This is the "OP" or the Original Post #1....read it before asking any questions that my be answered in this post or in any of the following links!
Background: I started this thread because of the explosive growth of MikFroyo's Roms. The thread got so clogged with total new user's questions that it became difficult to find real answers to real problems. Not that new users can't learn, but I wanted to try and create a place for people who don't depend upon RomManager to control their lives!
Look, the way I see it, if you were smart enough to root your phone and start flashing new ROMs (that is the correct way to spell it btw, not roms, it is an acronym after all!), then you deserve concise answers to your issues based upon my experience in flashing phones that I have gathered in the past 3 years since I first started flashing things for my Razr phone.
I will assume you know how to use, and have properly setup, adb on your home computer. Yes, many of the commands you may see me or others post could be done through a terminal window on your phone, but your life will be much easier and more efficient if you have adb setup and working correctly on your home computer or laptop!

This is not my work, but a good starting point is provided at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=694250
Browse the entire thread if you like, but the download links are in the 1st post. Thanks for the guide goes to joeykrim.
I just flashed mikfroyo, got it working, then flashed the kernal that you suggested.
My wifi turns on for a second, does not connect, then turns off and says unable to scan for wifi??? I did do a full wipe, cache and dalvik before flashing mikfroyo.
Any suggestions?

Flash the zip and then wipe everything again twice then from there flash the rom n kernel all in one recovery visit..
So
One- flash the formatall.zip
Two- wipe cache dalvik n data n sd ext two times
Three- flash rom
Four- flash kernel
On the same recovery session.
By the way what kernel u using?
Heres the formatall.zip link

Good Luck buddy! Enjoy your time w the rom, its a beauty.
Installing ADB
First off I am not the originator of this guide, it can be found here and was created by nephron. I just updated it with some updated links and instructions. The newer version seemed to do a lot of the steps that were in his guide therefore I didn't need to do them to get adb to work.
Another guide I borrowed some stuff from can be found here and was created by joeykrim. If you are using a mac or linux machine go to this thread for the download links.
Again I want to give credit to those guys because they really created the original threads and I just borrowed some from both of them to create an updated install guide. This is only an install guide and if you have ADB command questions you will be better off going to those threads and asking in there or searching XDA for your answers.
Link to the Android SDK site, you might check here to see if there is an updated version of the SDK that I have link below(installer_r10)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Things you need:
Android SDK - Download
7-zip - Download
Win 7 Drivers- Download-thanks shep 211
HTC Sync-The one that is in the SD card that came with your phone will work
Windows PC
USB Cable
A Rooted HTC EVO
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Setting up the Android SDK
I installed the drivers and htc sync first, I am not sure if that matters or not.
Download the file SDK file from above and accept defaults to install it.
Once installed make sure the box is checked that says "Start SDK Manager" and hit finish.
Once SDK Manager opens click on the accept all radio button and hit install. Be patient it will take awhile.
Any problems or questions go here.
Once completed take the "android-sdk" folder and move it to the root of your hard drive (C:\).
It will be located in c:\program files(x86)\android, it's large folder so it might take a little while.
Right click on My Computer and click properties
Select the Advanced Tab or Advanced System Setting (Vista/Windows 7)
Select Environment Variables...
On the bottom half (system variables)
go to PATH and edit it to include C:\android-sdk\platform-tools
Make sure to separate it from the rest of the ones in there by a semicolon
Hit Ok
*The reason for this is so that you can run adb from any folder on your drive so that you don't have to copy your files to the tools folder. Big thanks to jadeboy and coiledwire for helping me figure this out.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Preparing your phone for ADB
If you are running MikFroyo it should be checked by default but you can double check it if you want.
Go to Settings on your phone
Select Applications
Select Development
Make sure 'USB Debugging' is checked
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Installing Drivers
Plug in your phone through USB and it should automatically install the drivers. I've done this 4 times and every time it finds the phone just fine.
If not check out this thread here.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Check if your phone is detected by ADB
Open up Command Prompt (Go to run, type in cmd, press enter)
Type in
Code:
cd C:\android-sdk\platform-tools === Press Enter
adb devices === You should see your device listed
adb shell === you should see # in the next line
Now you are all set to run adb commands. Go here if you want to learn/test some of the basics, it's in joeykrim's thread. His push/pull of test.apk won't work because that file isn't in there. However you can just create a test.txt file on your c:\ and push/pull that to your phone. That's what I did to test that.
Easiest one to test is
Code:
adb reboot
Note: for a list of commands type in 'adb' in cmd
CONGRATS YOU NOW HAVE ADB FULLY RUNNING!

Hey you might stick this in your popular solutions OP.

Slow Market.
Thanks to Mitchellvii
JK you can just link to his post on this if you want since he actually found it. Here's the link
POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO SLOW MARKET:
As you use your Market, your /cache appears to fill up with .apk files call Download-1, Download-2, etc. Why Market chooses to just continually add these without deleting the older ones is beyond me. It eventually just eats up your /cache and slows Market Updates.
From what I can tell, there is absolutely no harm whatsoever in deleting these. You can delete them using Root Explorer + Multi-select or you can boot into Recovery and Wipe Cache. I am not sure if wiping /cache also clears Dalvik Cache if it is on /cache. However, if your phone takes a long time to reboot after wiping /cache then I would assume it does since your phone has to rebuild Dalvik. Either way, nothing is damaged.
I have looked at the various "cache cleaners" on the Market and have not found one that clears out these "Download-#.apk" files. If someone knows of one, please share it with the room.
The act of going into Applications and clearing MikMarket Data & Cache does NOT delete these extraneous files.
CONCLUSION:
If your Market is being unresponsive, use:
1. Root Explorer to delete all of the "Download-#.apk" files from your /cache (root), or
2. reboot into recovery and wipe cache.
After this, your Market should become much more responsive. Option #1 is easier.

[Q] Motorola XT319, Deleted Stock Launcher,USB Debugging not enabled

Hi
I have a Motorola XT319 (GB 2.3.5) China ROM . I rooted it & removed stock launcher & most chinese app, flashed Gapps etc. Then yesterday I did a factory reset. After that phone boots normally & I get signal & notification bars, screen lock, can receive calls etc. But as there is no launcher I cant do any further. There is no gapps in stock rom. USB debugging is disabled so can't push anything through adb.
I can boot into stock recovery & see the option of apply update from SD card & other options as well.
Please suggest is there any way to recover from this. Or any help to find a SBF & flashing it.

My problem is Bootloop "Or you have another name, because I do not understand", just stop on logo but it still can go into recovery mode.
The story before the events bootloop or whatever name this problem, So as I recall before this incident I edit files and install Tweaks build.prop with applications My pimp and try other features, it works, but when I restart my device. You know what happened. when just stopped in my logo I does not do anything just to wait so that I fell asleep and when I woke up I realized this a bootloop Or what ? I do not know his name.
At that time I was just doing the usual way way., list.
(Wipe data / Factory reset)
(Wipe cache partition)
(reboot system now)
but no change
(Restore user data)
(backup user data)
(Reboot again)
Still same
(Apply update from ADB - I do not have a pc)
(Apply update from sdcard - No have ORIGINAL ROM, BACKUP ROM, CUSTOM ROM Etc.)
(Apply update from cache - I do not understand what this)
Just information There is writing on my recovery mode "Android System Recovery <3e> ALPS.KK1.MP7.V1" I do not know what this is but I show in case you need it.
Just info :
"I have submitted my problem is on the web and social media owned IPRO but no response, I also have to ask in the thread "is concerned about this issue but no response. I do not know if I really make this thread in the forum Q & A if any anyone please notifications where should I post this thread, I hope anyone can help me here, if no input on how to make this a better thread again please write your comment"
I think your reading if this type of problem?
Is it still could be improved?
Installing custom rom whether other devices can fix this? What is this due to file damage build.prop?
How to fix it?
Can you tell tutorial to solve this problem?
If you told me to look for tutorials on the internet what keywords for this problem?
What is correct I asked here or I OOT?
What do I need to make this thread or just my neighbor asking questions like this course in every thread that said key bootloop?
You do not have to answer all of them just answer that you know or your own statement to me, I am newbie please guidance, Sorry in advance, and thanks afterward

more than likely, it is not booting because you made some bad edits to the build prop. i see this happen a lot.
you will need to find a stock firmware for your device and install it back to fix the problem.
use search terms like "(your device name) return to stock" to try and locate the files.

you can try searching for a custom rom, that should fix it.
other than that, with no stock firmware, i dont see any way you could fix it.
no, you cant use files from another device, unless it specifically says its ok for your device (very rare, but happens occasionally)

So there will be plenty of experiments,
CMIIW.
If this error in build.prop can I fix it with this way?:
-Take the backup file build.prop.bak with ADB
-Then Edit it by removing the code that previously I input
-And I input back into the system folder in my device with ADB
-And delete files that are in init.d
What a way as it could to improve my device, because I think if it's just damage build.prop file.
And if I use a custom rom whether he would change the system information such as kernel, android version, and whether he will change the code in the file build.prop and What it will also transform the tweaks in the init.d folder or even add to the pile? I think if a custom rom working to add code or tweaks both in build.prop or init.d I think it will worsen, CMIIW, because I think if true custom rom works like that then it is not a good solution

1. i have no idea what CMIIW means
2. yes, if you have an original copy of the build prop or can remove edits from the current one, and can replace with adb, that would be good.
3. i would try fixing one thing at a time to see what actually caused the issue. init may or may not need to be fixed.
4. custom rom would clean and replace the entire system including kernel, so it should fix the issue. however, this is your choice, its not a bad option, just a different one.

Where to locate Flashify backup Files ?

I installed Flashify on Meizu M2 Note . It's rooted with kingroot and I managed to take backup of Stock Recovery and Stock Kernel with flashify . I saved those in my phone's internal memory . But Unfortunately I can not find those any where in file managers ?
Where to locate Flashify backup Files ?
Are those Rec. and Kern. files flashable with other apps ( like my favourite - TWRP ) ?
Anyone with kind suggestion will be highly appreciated .
Thank you .
I really need those two files before flashing ported rom in my Meizu M2 Note .

Lol, well, you aren't getting replies because the answer is so simple.
Anytime you install an app yourself, it is installed as a user app. All user apps either create their own folder in the user partition to save data in(user partition is the partition that your download folder, Bluetooth folder, DCIM folder, etc.. are located), or they store their data in your Android/data/(name of the app in question) folder or one of its subfolders.
In your case its in Android/data/Flashify/files/backup/boot/(name of your boot backup)
and in Android/data/Flashify/files/backup/recovery/(name of your recovery backup)
They are restored using Flashify, not TWRP. The backups that Flashify create are a waste of time anyway, if you want to create and restore backups then use TWRP to create them and restore them, not Flashify, Flashify's only function that is worth using is its ability to flash custom Recovery .imgs.
A Google search for that question would have easily answered the question. The fact that you came here to ask means you didn't even attempt a search before asking because if you had then you would have found the answer very easily, questions that can easily be answered with a google search as the kinds of questions that get ignored.
Next time you ask a question and you don't get any answers, it should be your first clue that you can find the answer yourself very easily with a Google search.
The XDA forum rules state that members are supposed to search then search some more before they post their question, this keeps excessive and unnecessary posts to a minimum. You obviously didn't search first, that is very discouraged in this community.
I DO NOT PROVIDE HELP IN PM, KEEP IT IN THE THREADS FOR EVERYONE TO SHARE

2. I want to use this smartphone as a mini computer without wifi, internet access or phone service. I know there are apps that can be installed that run offline. I would like to do a clear wipe of the phone. I installed Titanium Backup and I have seen lists of apps that can be taken off but I would like to know what are the essential apps that I could leave on, the bare minimum that the phone needs to have just to be functional..
Thanx

Hello,
You need to first check if official lollipop is available for your device? If yes, you can upgrade. But some updates include firmware/bootloader updates. So please make the previous updates before proceeding.
As for second issue, there is no list as such but you can delete the ones you consider not important.
But please keep in mind to not delete the core apps or it will end up in a bootloop/Force closes..

Hello,
Well you cant. Just check the debloat script for any device and accordingly delete the ones you feel.
It is a hit and trial method.

Ok. Thanx.
I successfully rooted my phone but I am having problems installing clockworkmod. I tried the easiest way by installing a ROM manager but get Error while downloading from server. Please make sure you have stable internet connection and that your sd card is inserted and has free space.. It is for this reason that I would probably have an issue getting it from the googleplay store. So I downloaded adb.exe which isn't working either. I don't see it containing any img file that has to be flashed. Is there any simple way it could be installed without using an unlocked bootloader?
Where is the RECOVERY img????

After downloading adb and clockworkmod where is the recovery image? I think I tried every website related to a droid 3.
Once your device boots into bootloader mode, type this into the command line.
fastboot flash recovery twrp-2.8.x.x-xxx.img
└ Here modify CWM.img with the name of your CWM recovery .img file.
I downloaded CWM 5.0.2.6 Recovery but there was no recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.6-solana.img file. I downloaded flashify but I am getting an error problem setting up in-app billing lab result .......
How do you do this?

Hello,
Recovery image is the recovery i.e. Clockwork Mod recovery in this case.
You need to fastboot it.

Is the recovery file included in the zip file? I typed in fastboot flash recovery Clockwork Mod recovery and I got an error that clockwork was not found.

Thanx for replying.
There is no file named "recovery.img" or any "img" file in the adb zip file.
only a file named recovery.
When I type in the command fastboot flash recovery recovery I get the following information:
Target reported max download size of 520093696 bytes
Sending ‘recovery’ <770> kb . . .
OKAY [0.041s]
Writing ‘recovery’ . . .
<bootloader> Preflash validation failure
FAILED <remote: >
Finished. Total time: 0261s
I downloaded recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.4.3-quincyatt.img, ran the same command and got the same error.
