Hey, writing this from New Zealand on D821 Nexus 5 unlocked.
I have recently updated my Nexus 5 to 4.4.3 and it seems great with improved battery life and all.
However it is really buggering me off that I can't connect to 4G anymore. All I am getting is H+.
My phone setting is on 4G (recommended) for data and I have rebooted the device a few times just in case.
If you know any way I could try and resolve this problem, please help me out.
Cheers
Is your bootloader unlocked? I'd flash the 4.4.2 radio. Sounds like that worked better for you. If you have a custom recovery there are some zip files too you could flash

Yea, my N5 is not rooted. It is just the 4G connection issue. I am very happy with every other aspect of the update though.

You don't need to be rooted. Flashing a radio from fastboot just needs an unlocked bootloader
I've seen many complaints regarding this new radio. It's great that we have a nexus and can roll back to anything we want to

Hey, thanks for your reply. So, do you mean that I can use the previous 4.4.2 radio setting with all the other 4.4.3 features remaining the same?
Could you be able to provide me with a link to 4.4.2 radio bootloader please?
Cheers

Yes. If your boot loader is unlocked just fastboot flash the radio
fastboot flash radio radio.img
Get radio.img out of the factory image. Google nexus 5 factory image. Download it and extract it. In there is another zip file, extract that too. There you find the radio.img

Hey guys this is my first nexus device and I'm loving it so far aside from some small issues I just unlocked my boot loader and rooted and installed twrp. I was wondering am I still going to get updates from Google ? Or will I have to flash it manually and if so can I do a dirty flash or do I have to wipe and lose everything. I'm expecting a update soon because I have notices a few bugs. Thanks

You will still get them, and unlocking has no affect, but they won't install with a 3rd party recovery.
Usually this isn't a problem though as you can grab and extract the image from the official Nexus images site and just flash that to update.
I have a Nexus 5 that has been rooted, unlocked bootloader and I deleted some of the system apps (cant's remember which). I received the OTA update for the 4.4.3 update few says back. Clicked the update, after the download process went through, the phone restarted to install. But then my phone just went dead, it popped up a dead android with the word "error" underneath it x-P.
I know the problem has to do with me uninstalling system apps so is there anyway for me to update to 4.4.3 without wiping my data, if not, I have no problem doing it anyway (nothing too important on my nexus...) Thanks.
Download the factory images of 4.4.3 and flash system, bootloader, recovery and radio.. Doing so will not wipe your data!

Put your phone in bootloader mode and flash the 4.4.3 system img you'll be fine:good:
Download the factory image and flash boot.img, cache.img and system.img, and the new radios.
I would recommend a wipe and do it fresh, but it's up to you.
Edit: 3 replies in the same minute, derp.
Just do this

Uhh, that went way over my head, maybe a dumb question but how does one flash img on a android phone? Sorry, I'm still a noob when it comes to these things. (is there a way to do it on a linux computer?)

You'll need fastboot setup on your computer. Once you have is setup just go to the link I posted. You just need to double click on the flash-all

The flash-all.bat/flash-all.sh wipes if I'm not mistaken.
To the OP:
Download the Android SDK and set up fastboot, there are stickied threads for it in the General Section.
Download the factory images and take out boot.img, cache.img and system.img (inside a .zip inside the already compressed file), as well as the radio-hammerhead-m8974a-2.0.50.1.13.img. put them in fastboot directory
Open a cmd prompt in fastboot directory and type (pressing enter after each line, wait for each individual one to complete):
cmd said:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash cache cache.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash radio radio-hammerhead-m8974a-2.0.50.1.13.img

It might be slightly different on a Linux computer but it should be in the stickies, or search

Hi Guys,
I know a lot about rooting & flashing roms and odin only except fastboot ( I am noob for fastboot )
I have been facing battery drain issues regarding 05Q update. I would like to revert to 44s but how? My phone is not yet rooted neither unlock bootloader. Please let me know about your suggestions.
There are tons of ways to do this however all will cause a data wipe. There is an official roll back zip floating around the one plus forums if you do a search I am sure you will find it and then just follow the instructions on the inside.

Alright, that means i can root opo and flash 44s through custom recovery? What about fastboot ?
You can also just download the signed 44s image from CMs website. Do a fastboot OEM unlock the flash the signed 44s via fastboot to your phone. No need for ant custom recovery or even root. But this whole your device but then again so will all other methods.

Hi, is this correct .... I am coming from 5.0.1 stock rooted with twrp and I want to update to stock rooted 5.1
Do I :
1) download the 5.1.zip
2) clear cache +dalvik (I want to keep my data) and flash
3) reboot....
Or do I have to flash the radio and boot loader as well (I'm not sure what they do?!!)
And how do I obtain root access??(flash the superuser zip?!!?)
PS. This is from vomers thread...I don't know if I need to flash the superuser and radio/boot loader:

i would suggest using these downloads instead.
ROM - https://basketbuild.com/filedl/devs...84cs/Nexus 5/Full/xTraSmooth_4_Hammerhead.zip
Radio/Bootloader - https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934540588
SuperSU - http://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip
Steps:
1. Make sure you are on TWRP v2.8.5.2
2. Download ROM and Modem
3. Boot into TWRP
4. Flash ROM (don't need to wipe dalvik/cache because it's already a part of the script)
5. Flash SuperSU v2.46
6. Flash Modem
7. Reboot phone
I did these exact same steps and i had no issues what-so-ever!
*edit* Replaced the Radio only flashable zip with a Radio/Bootloader flashable zip

Hi,
I would say that you are in the right way. And, as rohit25 said you need to install the bootloader and radio images. The bootloader is the software responsible for launch the kernel and bring up your phone. The radio images i think it controls basic low level functions like GPS, network connectivity and WI-FI. To your final question, yes, you will need to install super user again.

Yes, that is true.
Just fastboot the bootloader, radio and system img's, then boot into recovery and wipe cache and dvalik, far easier.

But i did flash the bootloader + radio later and noticed no difference.

Hi Experts,
I've Nexus 5 running stock ROM LRX22C with CWM. I'm trying to flash stock 5.1 but I get the error in the start where it says my device has fingerprint user keys from kitkat 4.4 instead of 5.0. The exact message is as follows:
This device has Google/hammerhead/hammerhead:4.4/KRT16M/893903:user/release-keys
Status 7
I can edit the updater script to avoid checking it but I would like to fix it. Please advise if I need to go back to stock 4.4 and then upgrade to 5.0 and then 5.1?
Is there any lesser tedious method to fix it?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Download factory images and flash system.img, boot.img, radio.img and bootloader.img using fastboot while booted into the bootloader.
Just so that I can understand better, do I need to flash for all versions of just 5.1?

What do you mean?
If you mean flash old factory images first, then no, there is no point. Just download the 5.1 factory images and flash the .img files I mentioned (don't flash userdata.img since it'll wipe all data).
Thanks. I'll follow the instructions.

You can't take an OTA with a custom recovery, that's the problem.
Also, it's time to get rid of CWM.
So, what's your suggestion?
