As you can see, it was not installed properly
Not to be whatever, but if the app isn't compatible with tablets, then it shouldn't work for the Fire until it is.. Are you trying to download on Amazon App Store or Market? Because if they put it in the Amazon app store then that would be VERY stupid on their part..
I read that the whatsapp application does work on KF.... if someone has the steps to install this correctly, do share. I used a friend's Android phone to upload the apk to Dropbox and tried to install it from there.
I tried using Ti Backup, but when restoring whatsapp on the kindle, the process either hangs or give me the error that the app is not installed. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
I got it working. but I had to locate an older version to install. I think the newer version of whatsapp does some check and thus prevent installation on the kindle.

can you please share the apk?
i have installed it in my fire
but the following msg was shown when i try to use it..
I hope its ok to upload here, do inform me if i am breaking any rules.
Note that I am using the original kindle OS and not a rom like CM7. I am doing this as i cannot even get the newest version of whatsapp to be installed much less to work. I was unable to get to the screen that rhs013232 has shown. I keep getting the error "Application not Installed" during installation.
So basically what i did was to:
1) Do a Ti Backup of whatsapp on my phone
2) Transfer the 3 whatsapp backup files (these 3 were created when backing up whatsapp) from my phone into the Kindle's Ti backup folder
3) install a copy of this version of whatsapp on the kindle
4) Restore the "Data" (not App or App+data) of whatsapp using Ti Backup
This should allow whatapp to work after that.
This copy of whatsapp will keep complaining that its an older version, so just tap ignore.

i MIGHT be wrong, but...
i think since you have installed a different rom and thus it seems you managed to get whatsapp installed, all u need is to do a restore of whatsapp data. This will pass the kindle's copy of whatsapp the phone's data of registration etc allowing it to work.
So i think you should uninstall and reinstall whatsapp (dont open whatsapp first till after the restore) and do the restore using TI backup to see if you can get it working before you try to use the older version.

or can you share those back up file?
Sorry man, but i dont think the whatsapp backup files can be shared as it will contain my account details. That means if you use them, u will be receiving msgs from my contacts instead.
I would suggest you borrow a friends phone and using your SIM card, you set up whatapps there and do the backup. That might work.
Since I don't have an Android phone, I uploaded the older version of whatapps to dropbox and installed it from there but to no avail. I am still getting the:

Anyone ? I would gladly donate 5 USD for a workable solution as I do want to get whatsapp on my kindle .. thanks
I saw a custom rom (I am not rooted) in the Verizon Section and I was wondering how the guy was able with custom to give people acces to 50gb dropbox , would it be possible to give non-rooted users that option? 50GB Is really a lot for me and it would be perfect. Otherwise I use Google Drive/+2Gb dropbox as free option.
Thanks!
1. Force stop your current drop box app
2. Clear all data
3. Remove the app
4. Download the zip file from this link
MOD EDIT: Link removed. We do not support gaining dropbox space in this manner as it is not paid for. Dropbox will take it back as well after a little time passes.
5. Be sure to put it on the root of your sd card or internal storage
6. Boot into recovery
7. Flash the zip from step 4
8. Reboot your device.
9. Android will show updating, let it do its thing
10. Sign in to the new drop box app
11. After a few minutes get 48 gigs free for 2 years.
PROFIT.

You can root by several different methods. You can flash a stock root in ODIN or do other things. Just because you root doesn't mean you need to run CM10/AOKP. Rooting is just giving yourself SU (admin) permissions.

As mentioned, you don't need to run anything other than the stock Touch Wiz if you don't want to..
Rooting is a separate thing though; I rooted so I could install Google Wallet, TiBU, etc.. and just because!
I am also holding off installing CM10 or anything else, until things have settled down a bit... (thats just me..)
I rooted using the method from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1792342
With this method, you don't need to flash anything.
My mother could have done it, it was very easy!

I think I read somewhere of people getting wallet bricked meaning they lost their security certificates until a final version launches.
A few people claimed a brick after trying to flash or, but who's to say what their software setup and extent of mods were.

Rooting is one thing, but to flash a zip requires a custom recovery. What version of custom recovery are you using? I've spied 5.8.4.8 as specific for the Verizon S3. But this post shows 6.0.1.0. Confusing.

Non it isn't hard.
Get a free app called ez recovery from the play store, or get rom manager.
Once you have root, ez recovery will allow you to choose the type of recovery and you just click reboot and get into that recovery.
Select the recovery, click flash, then reboot.
The complex stuff is kexec related, which this does NOT require at all...
If you want stock you can select that too.
From there you can flash the zip.

It works fine. It's not going to hurt your computer, that is commonly a chrome message, and happens often with zip archives that are going to be flashed.

Well, there is always the possibility of causing problems, but personally,i just followed the guide here and I did not have an issue... if I had to guess, I would say most of the issues are from folks flashing rooms and not resetting Wallet first. I think there is a fix for that issue now though... I'd have to look.
I will say it is pretty cool to be able to pay with your phone! The first chance I got to use it was earlier today paying for parking at Denver....
Obviously if you aren't comfortable with it, you don't have to install it... the other reason I did it was because Verizon decided I couldn't have it

Just do the same as I described above, and see what happens.
Cannot hurt, its just a bit of code inside the zip that gets flashed that says you have the HTC version of the app that tells dropbox to give you 48 gigs.

Dude, Yes. Thank you! I have installed and can confirm that it is working.
For everyone looking to do this: Just keep in mind that if you do not have an existing account, (or have not done it yet) they will make you complete "5 steps" before you actually get the storage, all easy simple things though.
As far as the 50 gig DropBox accounts, you guys do realize this is only temporary (I forget how long they give you) & when it expires you will either have to pay for the additional storage or revert to whet you had previously??

And like I said the even stranger part is that in the settings menu it works
But on the lockscreen its still showing the old one
Oddly enough I made a totally unrelated change in twframework-res via ninjamorph and rebooted and blam they are now working properly on the lock screen, silly phone I rebooted like 3 or 4 times thinking just maybe it would apply then it just does it lol.
Could you upload the files and how to do this. Its just what I wanted to do. Thanks
Oh sure thing, easiest way to do is using ninjamorph just download it from the market, open framework-res.apk (its in /system/framework) and go to the res folder and then the drawable-xhdpi folder and replace indicator_code_lock_point_area_green_holo.png with the blue one from the post and also indicator_code_lock_point_area_green.png also with the blue one from the post. Once you have done this back out to the main ninjamorph screen and select finish project select framework-res.apk, tell it yes for the first one about it replacing the apk, then tell it no for zip align, allow it to do its thing then reboot. That should do it for you if you have any other questions just ask
Thanx. I tried doing this with the latest ninjamorph I bought from playstore just now and luckily I just made a backup with twrp. Everything replaced the 2 images but when I went to save the app it gave me 4 or 5 diff. Steps. I did like you said but it froze up on work in progress and I had to remove the battery and was in a bootloop. I wish I could get it to work. I think it's the new ninjamorph might be diff. From the one you used.
First of all sorry for not telling you once you go through the prompts and apply it you will get FC's and your phone will automatically reboot, this is normal since your replacing framework, it will reboot and apply changes so no worries there. I'm just using the free version of ninjamorph version 2.4, ok lets square up the steps again. after selecting finish project and selecting framework-res.apk the first popup says (your about to overwrite /system/framework/framework-res.apk with your finished project are you sure?) select yes to this, the second popup says (since this is an apk file, we can optimize using zip align) select no, the third popup should say (since you are changing framwork you must reboot) just click ok. The last popup asks you if you want to cleanup the project its up to you this will just clean out your project folder I would say no for now until you get everything working how you want. Reboot the phone then you should be good. Also not sure on the difference between twrp and cwm as far as flashing a zip goes but I could probably just have you upload your framework-res.apk make the changes for you and post the zip file.

Before you proceed your nexus or android tablet must be rooted for the proccess to succeed
The first thing you should do is install this version of Bluestacks:
http://cdn.bluestacks.com/downloads/0.7.2.751/BlueStacks_HD_AppPlayerPro_setup_0.7.2.751_REL.msi
And then root it using this Guide :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1935192
After you root Bluestacks Install the following apks on it
TitaniumBackup: http://matrixrewriter.com/android/files/TitaniumBackup_latest.apk
DropBox: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6993309/Dropbox.apk
Whatsapp : http://www.whatsapp.com/android/current/WhatsApp.apk
Right click on the whatsapp file and select install with bluestacks installer, after it finishes installation, open it , enter your number and proceed , wait for the 5 mintues of checking to finish(you will have supposedly recieved the 6 digit code on your phone already) enter the code and intialize it .
after that install Titanium Backup with the same method you installed whatsapp ,(you should already be rooted), go to app selection , select whatsapp and back it up
then install dropbox , create an acount(if you dont already have one) upload the whatsapp files(they are in the titanium backup folder in the root of the sdcard).
After that install dropbox and titanium backup on your android tablet , sign in dropbox with your acount, export the whatsapp files in a titanium backup folder on the root of the sdcard .
Then open Titanium Backup , select the app list , select whatsapp , then select restore app+data(then after that restore data only bec. sometimes it doesnt)
Done.
You have successfully installed Whatsapp WITHOUT A ROOTED ANDROID PHONE

Technically its not without a phone though if you said you will receive the 6 digit code to your phone.
Without a rooted android phone you mean?
Seriously though, if it works for those people then great. Is this method different from the other ones posted which used bluestacks?
I don't get the bit about the titanium backup 'files'. When I back an app up with titanium backup, it makes 1 file only with a .tiBkp extension.

Re: (Solved)Successfully install whatsapp on an android WIFI tablet without a phone !
Why so hectic method? Get whatsapp from play store or somewhere else and install it on your tablet, enter a number that you are using on your phone then you got to wait 12 mins for the verification, sms verification will fail then you will receive a phone call by whatsapp on your mobile device whose number you have entered which is a computer voice saying the 6 digits, hear it and enter it, your whatsapp will be activated..

Why so hectic method? Just install it on your tablet, enter your number then you got to wait 12 mins for the verification, sms verification will fail then you will receive a phone call by whatsapp which is a computer voice saying the 6 digits, hear it and enter it, your whatsapp will be activated..

Hmm this is very interesting..... I've got it working easily because I just pulled my titanium backup from my rooted phone over and installed it, but I'd be very interested to hear from someone trying this other way....

these are the three files i get when i fully backup an app

Found it, look at this, using my N7.
I always pick 'app+data easy import'. That's why my titanium backups are only 1 file. I use the 'send this backup' option to upload them to dropbox directly from titanium backup.

Ahhhh, never noticed that my 'send backup to cloud' was in special features of titanium backup. Paid version only, I see..
I too am skeptical of this 'wait 12 minutes' thing..

lol its not included

Lol I uploaded the files from the titanium backup folder to drop box manually , because you can't access the root sd card of blue stacks from the PC normally.
I was not aware that I can send backups from titanium backup directly !
I confirm that this works. Rooted bluestacks, install and verify latest Whatsapp, backup with titanium, transfer backup to tablet using Dropbox and do a restore on the tablet.
I used a non-android telephone and my tablet is wifi model.
works perfectly thanks man
thanks! this even works on my samsung galaxy tab 2 7.0 wifi edition!
It really works!
Man, this method is so good! It's working like a charm on my Galaxy Player 4.2!
Thank you!
Np problem man

How is the Galaxy Player btw , i was thinking of buying one until the new generation of nexus came out
And dont feel shy to press the thanks button
Great how to. Worked beautifully. Only hassle was with the first TB restore on the tablet I got the 'tablet not supported' error. A 2nd restore got the app working 100%.

I always find I have to just redownload all my apps and it gets annoying. Also it'd be nice if it could backup sms messages and keep the homescreen layout (I use the Google Experience Launcher)
How about titanium backup?
have u ever used this app before?
sms back up +

i used it successfully to restore all my phone logs but sms failed with this app
Use titanium (or Helium) for all your apps, use SMS Backup & Restore for sms.

That's why I suggest you to try this one brother, "super backup".
You can download it from playstore. Its very simple ui but can backup all of your app include your system app.
And it's free

titanium backup has always worked for well for me for apps. I've never worried about backing up SMS though.

It wont find my External SD Card though (im using USB OTG since my phone doesnt have a SD card slot) so im gunna backup and then move it to my SD card using a Root Explorer
if you have root explorer lets open it and click storage
look in this folder, maybe your external sdcard is named as extsd or sdcard1, etc
reopen super user and clik backup path and change as /storage/sdcard1/SmsContactsBackup
or /storage/extsd/SmsContactsBackup depending of what is name of your external sdcard on /storage
You can do this to usb otg too

I got it working. Just a question is there a way to make the apps automatically install themselves? I got a pop-up for each app that I had to click "Install" then "Done" which was tedious

NO it can not
You only reinstall super backup from play store and then open it and tab to the archiver easy to reinstall your app just by one click at the bottom of archiver and all of your app will reinstall quickly.
