Hello, Xda. I'm new to this forum but I have been lurking the site for a while now. Anyway, I have this Alps iPhone 5 clone. Rooted it and since I'm still kind of new to smart phones I thought deleting the default launcher wouldn't be a problem since I was using another launcher (Espier), all would be fine and dandy and wouldn't give me any problems. But then the phone just wouldn't boot up properly and it just stays at the Apple logo unless it gets connected to my pc and let the usb connection confirmation to show. I just had to disconnect again and or just press back then it would let me choose Espier as the default launcher and now without the default iPhone home launcher. This became a pain so I thought all will be good when I do a factory reset. But was I wrong. Now it would still be stuck at the boot screen and still have to connect it to my pc but now it has no launcher, I can go as far as the camera and gallery from the lock screen, get to the notifications bar if I swipe fast enough but can't really do anything but change brightness, time out, etc. I figured the phone's apps are there but there just isn't a launcher to show them to me, so I tried sending me an sms with a link for a launcher download and tried sending me the app from another phone via bluetooth but I get no signal and even if the bluetooth is on it never finds any other devices. I've been googling around for the past 2 days but haven't really gotten far since not many people have this kind of phone. Best solution I found is using adb but it just ate me up when I tried using it. Any suggestions? Help would be gladly appreciated.

Hello,
I have a recently purchased LG Vortex (my first smartphone). I like most everything about it, but there has been one very annoying feature that I find it hard to just accept. When I use a homescreen replacement application (I have tried OpenHome, ADWLauncher, and LauncherPro as paid versions, and a number of others as free versions) the phone will begin sense screen touches inappropriately- the phone has called people without my having dialed the phone at all. This occurs when the screen is locked, and only (in my experience) when the phone is being charged. I attempted to get help through Verizon- first, I went to the store at which point they replaced the phone (a non-answer if ever there was one); second through the customer service line, and all I could get out of them is that noone else has reported a similar problem. I got the same result when I put LauncherPro on the second phone. I would like to have a home screen replacement, for several reasons, so any help would be appreciated.
Thank you

My wife's phone has your same touch in wrong place or too many times or just freak out I just got touched whatever you want to call it while it's on the charger only. There is really a hardware issue and that is just because LG used some cheaper parts to get the phone to market faster.. For a home screen replacement app I have the best luck with Go Launcher EX. It's in the market. While your at it, root with S1C and install open garden wifi tethering. youll like it more.
So...here's the thing. Supposedly it's impossible to 100% brick an i500. Well I believe I managed it. If not, I would REALLY like to fix it. I use it just for media stuff these days, like reading and music. So...here's what I did. I know it was stupid.
1. Rooted my Samsung Fascinate i500 from Ntelos.
2. Got a bunch of replacement apps, like Go Launcher EX, and pretty much every other thing the GO team came up with.
3. Used Titanium Backup to delete system apps(like the launcher, basic internet, and some other stuff) instead of freezing them. I am an uber noob. It shows, yes?
This was all some time ago, when it was actually connected to a plan and used as a phone. It still worked...most of the time. It would derp and freeze up occasionally, but otherwise worked fine.
4. At some point a few days ago I somehow uninstalled something that caused the wifi to cycle itself back on no matter what I did (including turning on airplane mode, it just turned airplane mode off and cycled the wifi back on) causing battery drain, since it's constantly searching for SVC. So since I couldn't figure out what happened to cause this, I decided it was time to finally get a custom ROM. I used ROM Manager to try and flash a custom rom I cooked in this online kitcheny thing.
It didn't work. Anyway, I went into the recovery and cleared the cache thingies, hoping it would help.
Instead, I no longer have a launcher. Since the default launcher was gone, apparently it won't let me use my Go Launcher EX anymore, or even bring up the menu to set it as a default.
I went through the steps to flash a new ROM or the original I found using ODIN3 and the download screen. I can get to the download screen fine...but ODIN3 won't recognize my phone. At all. Ever. I do have the right drivers, if I'm not mistaken.
Well...at this point, I don't know what the hell to do. I don't have the money for a new one, or I'd get it and start over and do it right this time.
Halp?
This problem is solved.
So...yeah. I forgot I had to use the original cable. My bad. I fixed it. Hooray!
I own a dell inspiron 15 with windows 8 officially installed on it. I purchased it four months ago.
For about a month or two now, the metro apps that came with the installation won't open. Some start loading and the screen turns white and stays that way. Others start loading and the loading ring and the app icon later gets disorganized. The apps in question keeps sending notifications but not accessible.
I really need help with that.
Also, I stopped using the microsoft login sometime back because always entering the long password became annoying. Now for some reason, it keeps telling me there is a network problem whenever i try switch to my microsoft account although i have a working internet connection.
My bluetooth and sd card slot ain't working properly but i believe all these are linked to one problem.
I have tried all the solutions posted online;
*Troubleshoot
*Activate windows
*Use Proxy
*Clear store cache
*Re-registry store
*Resolution change
and all but non worked. I can't update the OS because i cant open store in the first place. My last resort is to format the laptop but i dont want to do that now. I havent backed up most of my data and i dont know whether that'll fix the problem.
Neither can i take it to a dell or Microsoft shop because painfully there ain't one here. So i have to rely on my own understanding.
It seems it ain't enough so am desperately in need of help. *_*
Hey guys, let me just start off by saying I have spent almost 8 hours straight today trying to figure this out and dig myself out of a hole I've created for myself, that being said, I'm going to try and be as detailed as possible so you guys know EXACTLY where I am and what I've tried. This post looks long but that's because it is. It's pretty much my entire day's worth of trouble typed out. So just bare with me and see if you guys can help me out here!
I have a T-Mobile Galaxy S4 model: SGH-M919 it has Android 4.4.2. Now on to the problem: I've had this phone for almost a year now and a few months ago I rooted it. Did a simple Youtube tutorial and used Odin to do the work and everything worked out fine. A couple months down the road (yesterday), after using the phone like a teenager, downloading apps and cluttering it up it started to slow down and not run some apps. After thinking about it I decided to factory reset it. All of my contacts, photos, and videos were backed up on Google so I thought "why not?" Well, this is where $#!% hit the fan.. being rooted then factory reset, right before the phone came online it had me answer two questions about the root. Something to the effect of "Do you want to keep root? (This option is not reversible)" I thought since I wasn't using the features I originally rooted the phone for I figured nah just get rid of the root. So the phone did its T-Mobile boot up and started the Initial setup.
Everything up to to this point was fine until I wanted to log in to my Google account during the setup. Please understand that where I am I have full 4G LTE coverage and have access to a pretty fast and sturdy wifi connection. Well, when it came to the google sign in I entered my email and password and it came up with a message reading "Can't Sign in - Can't establish a reliable connection to the server" (believe me i wish that was the only issue) so after reading that, I thought I'd try with my wifi.. nope. Same thing. Since neither my 4g or wifi worked I thought it was Google's servers so I tried again this morning, same thing. (keep in mind at this point i think my phone isn't rooted anymore.) I call the t mobile store and they give me a technical support number, so I call it and I tell them i cant sign into Google. The gentleman told me he cant do anything because he can tell my phones been rooted. Only thing he suggests is to contact Google, well, the customer care number just tells you go to google.com/support and there's nothing there about my problem.
This is where I dig my hole even deeper. I tried another factory reset and up in the top left corner i still see that root text. Even the rooted android symbol pops up before the Samsung logo or t mobile. Since I saw that I thought "ohh it just didn't get unrooted all the way." I look up ways to completely remove a root and a lot of them require plugin your phone into the computer and using Odin to flash a stock firmware on to the device. I went to plug my phone into the usb port but my computer didn't recognize the usb device, having experienced this a long time ago I searched around for the latest Samsung usb drivers and I installed those. Device still isn't recognized. Let me just note before people tell me to use MTP mode or Developer tools> usb debugging or connection mode.. The only thing that happens when plugging my phone via usb is the phone starts charging and my computer makes the trumpet noise like something is plugged in. Other than that, there is NO notification of it being plugged in. The reason i stress this is because I called Samsung technical support at this point and the guy (not gentleman) treated me like a 5 year old and ran me through all of these options after i told him I already did everything he was suggesting, including downloading Samsung Kies 3 and having it install the drivers. It does not pick up the device either.. at this point I looked up ways to remove the root without the computer. I found out you can just go into the root app "SU" or something and theres a remove root option. I jumped on that opportunity and had it removed. I restarted the phone and all the problems still persist, it even still has the root text on the top left when you factory reset it again. However now, even if you factory reset and select the option "keep root," thinking it would bring back the"SU" app it does NOT.
So lets recap. I have a phone that thinks its rooted and even appears rooted to t mobile but doesn't have any of the root apps or privileges or capabilities to fix my Google log in issue (like the host file in filemanager). And I can't re-root to get that app back because none of my 3 usb ports, 3 different usb cables (one being the cord that came with the phone), or any of the ports/cables on someone else's computer will recognize the darn thing to work on that way! I have all these issues that are supposed to fix each other but I can't do any fixing because they cancel each other out too... I'm at a dead end.
In case this isn't the right forum/website/thread/post area etc.. I have this whole message saved in Microsoft Word document so I can repost it anywhere you guys might suggest better results. Any help/advice will be much appreciated.
I've been using my THL T11 for two months on Android 4.4.2 and it restarted 2 or 3 times every day. Also, each time it restarted, all my widgets disappeared. Few days ago, when I installed the Google Keyboard it restarted again but this time the android UI got broken, but I could hear all the sounds (low battery, new messages) and even I was able to turn on the torch. I decided to flash it with a new CWM Recovery and install a new ROM, which is an edited version from the latest official ROM with some issues fixed.
Some issues were fixed indeed, but the phone randomly restarted again several times. Each time the phone restarts (either voluntarily or unwittingly) some of my settings or preferences are gone and set by default. For example, each time I open an url, it asks me which internet browser I want to set as default. The same happens when I open photos, videos, launcher, keyboard, etc.
On the other hand, each time I plug the phone to the computer as USB storage device, the phone restarts immediately. But if I plug it as Media storage or Only charge, it works fine. I googled this issue and it comes that it must be some app installed on the SD card that crashes, but I can't find out which app causes this. It also restarts automatically undefinitelly , but by the time being I have to find the reason yet.
So, can anyone give me some help with these two issues?
Thanks in advance
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. Unfortunately I can't find anything relating to your query on XDA, but a quick search allowed me to find this thread:
ThL T11 Smartphone MTK6592 2GB 16GB 5.0 Inch FHD Gorilla Glass 8MP camera
It might be a good idea to ask your question there to see if anyone else with this phone is having the same issue, or knows how to fix it.
Good luck!
Thread closed, thanks.
