[Q] - Trying to switch from CWM to Twrp - installed both - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everybody, I'm new to this world
so, I''ve been trying to flash Omni Rom to my Galaxy Note 10.0 GT-N8000 ,
i used CWM v6.0.0.1 and it is incompatible to flash OmniRom 4.2.3
I tried to switch to Twrp and flashed it (another thread said that if you flash twrp over cwm, it will replace the existing cwm)
now what i get is i get both cwm and twrp and when i checked with ROM Manager it said I have both CWM and Twrp
when I choose TWRP as my current recovery, when I reboot to recovery, I went to CWM, How to get to TWRP or how to remove CWM?
Your help surely appreciated. Been scrolling through threads for hours

cant boot into rom if its not on stock recovery?

got the phone yesterday, then installed the OTA update , then when i got back home i unlocked the bootloader from htcdev site. Then went to fastboot and flashed the cwm recovery touch, installed the su libs, did a backup ,factory reset and wipe cache, installed cm 10.0 and gapps , after restart it was unable to boot.now i know this is because of s-on.So i restored the backup and then installed goo manager from play store and flashed twrp recovery in order to try cm 10.1 with its aroma installer.during the installation of cm 10.1 i choose the newest tmo radio and after that i installed the htcdumlock and then THIS IS WHERE THE THINGS WENT WRONG i choose one of the other options in twrp i think restore recovery and then the option on the right side on the screen but it didn't able to finish it so i restarted the phone and now it stays on the the red warning text , unless i install boot.img from MaximusM fastboot toolkit or something witch gives me the option to choose recovery from fastboot witch actually somehow boots the ROM. forgot to mention that i had problems with the sd card mounting under twrp after i flashed cm 10.1 so i had to revert back and then between stock recovery witch actually makes the phone to boot in the stock rom and the other two custom recovery`s
so i have downloaded the tmo ruu and before im trying to relock the device i just want to ask am i on the right way with this??
Its OK i figured it out

[Q] Stuck with TWRP, searched for a fix, CWM installed but unable to boot into CWMR

Hello everyone.
I have been trying to get onto the CM11
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2518998
I am running carbon 4.3 now on my GS3 D2att
I have goo manager and TWRP on this thing. they work fine.
I am unable to flash the 4.4 rom with TWRP.
I have loaded the latest CWM recovery.
I am unable to boot into CWM recovery, it always defaults to TWRP while booting to recovery.
Can someone help me get this figured out please.
Is it possible to flash the CM11 beta from TWRP, Am I having another issue besides TWRP?
If not, how can I get rid of TWRP? I have searched and read about this. but installing a new recovery does not do it for me.
Thanks for any help

TWRP not working. BL unlocked.

First and foremost I'm running an unlocked Boot Loader. My phone is running Android 4.1.2 (Baseband VRBMF1) and stock kernel.
Awhile ago I unlocked my phone (Using EZ Unlock 1.2) and installed Clockwork recovery (EZ Recovery).
I'm trying to install some newer ROMs and most of them require TWRP. I downloaded TWRP and flashed it through ODIN.
When I rebooted TWRP won't mount any partition and it shows internal memory as 0MB.
I booted back into Android (yes it still booted) and installed CWM using ROM Manager. Now the interesting thing is, in ROM Manager under "Recovery Already Installed" it lists both CWM and TWRP as options.
I rebooted into CWM and it navigates my SD Card no issue. I rebooted in to Android and downloaded TWRP and uninstalled ROM manager. I flashed an older version of TWRP (2.7) and rebooted into recovery. Same issue. Won't mount partitions and can't navigate files.
Reboot into OS and go into TWRP Manager. TWRP Manager actually shows CWM as the recovery installed.
So by all accounts (according to Rom Manager and TWRP Manager) I have 2 recoveries installed. ROM Manager shows both installed and TWRP Manager shows CWM installed while I'm able to boot into TWRP.
TWRP is for all intents and purposes useless. CWM works normally.
TWRP - 2.8.0.1
CWM - 6.0.4.5

Yes...exact same situation as me. I like 4.1.2....really hope dees can help us. I'd do it if I knew how. Lol
I said it in another thread but the issue appears to be related to the kernel for the recovery not being able to read the eMMC chip.

I recently installed TWRP Manager (from Google Play) on my StraightTalk Galaxy S3. Using that app, I installed TWRP v2.8.7.0 (twrp-2.8.7.0-d2vzw.img), which is for the Verizon Galaxy S3. It now mounts the partitions correctly. You might try that and see if it works for you.

Trouble with twrp recovery

Hi everyone
I have a small trouble installing the twrp custom recovery. At the moment, I have the 8.1.4 Miui with MM 6.0.1 official rom. With this, comes the MiRecovery, as you all know. So, to have the twrp recovery I flash the cwm recovery first, via MiRecovery as "update.zip". After that I swich off the phone and get again into cwm recovery. After this, I install the twrp recovery. Until here, no problem. The troubles comes now: if I swich off the phone and get into recovery it goes correctly to twrp recovery, but when I reboot to system to start the phone, if I try to get again to the recovery it comes the MiRecovery, not the twrp.
What am I doing wrong?
(I flash the cwm recovery first because renaming the zip file of the twrp as update.zip, it does not work; that's why I install first the cwm recovery).
Any help will be wellcome.
Thanks in advance.
Toni.
Hi.
It's solved. I don't know how, but now it works

How to get into twrp / reinstall neccessary?

Hello,
i have a question about getting into Recovery or maybe i have to install it again?
So i installed twrp following this guide
Install LineageOS on walleye | LineageOS Wiki
wiki.lineageos.org
At first i installed the Lineage OS recovery but wasnt able to flash a ROM with that so i switched and installed twrp.
It was installed to slot A.
I then went ahead and installed an ASOP ROM.
Now the ROM is working fine and i wanted to go into TWRP and do a Backup.
However i cant get into TWRP. Not with key combos nor with adb reboot recovery.
All i get is the fallen Android Robot picture.
I guess i wrote the image to Slot A as well and now have no recovery left.
Do i have to flash TWRP again and this time to Slot B?
I dont wanna brick anything by accident as i have seen some posts where people switched Slots and got bricks / semi bricks.
Thanks for any help or clarification.
Kind Regards
Hello mate, i never reinstalled twrp on my pixel 2 after catching a bootloop after installing it and then flashing magisk so stuck with using fastboot to fastboot boot twrp when I wanted to flash a ROM/mod.
Sounds strange that twrp was only on 1 slot as the twrp installer zip should flash both slots when flashed?
With regard to losing twrp you'll probably find that the new ROMs recovery has overwritten your twrp recovery during the flashing process giving you a stock recovery again (Fallen android). When I was using a 6T which is an A/B slot device you always had to reflash the twrp installer after a ROM flash to keep twrp installed.
I'd check the official twrp thread re backing up with twrp as it did have problems either backing up or restoring last I used it.
Hope that's some help.
