Dear XDA community
I recently bought 2 Samsung devices: the Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) and the Galaxy S5. P605 and G900F.
I used to install cyanogen mod on my devices, because I like a slim android system with only the most necessary apps and features. For both my devices the cyanogen mod is not available yet, which means they are both still unused in my desk.
I have read several threads where people were informed that they lose key features of those devices if installed with a custom ram and also that it is senseless to buy those devices and then flashing them with a custom rom. So I am aware of all that, non the less I am curious if there is a good slim mod that can support as many key features as possible but come without any pre installed google play and android stuff on them.
Any advice on making my devices usable with any mod would be much appreciated. Pointing me in the right direction of a mod that supports my devices would already be enough usually I can figure out everything else on my own.
Obviously I already googled but there seem to be many fake pages around and Im unsure what to trust.
Thank you for your time and consideration
I'm not specialist about Sammy devices, but I know that latest Cyanogen version CM 11 hasn't ported to your both devices yet.
I can give some links, but I cannot tell you which roms are best than other.
For your Galaxy Note 10.1 -2014 - P605
If you want a really light rom, you need to wait a release like Slim - Omni or CM
Go here => Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition)
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) > Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Original Android Development
For your Galaxy S5 - G900F
You have this rom :
[ROM][WIP/DEV] CyanogenMod 11.0 | Android 4.4.3 KitKat (KLTE - UNIFIED) | [June-10]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2777265
CM11 unofficial ROM for S5 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2777265
Have a look around this thread and maybe try out different ROMs that may be better suited to your needs http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/orig-development
wow that was fast for answers, thank you guys!
Is there like an overview of the most common mods? as in their name, what their goal/idea is?
Or how can I easily find a mod that supports my galaxy Note 10.1? Or did you mean you can give me a link of a mod that does support it philos64?
For my S5 I will use the unofficial Cyanogen mod for now as suggested by fxdil. Thank you for that.
fxdil, does the link you gave me work for my S5? also it says unified, does that mean it works for all devices, could I also install that on my tab?
Actually I cannot give a link for a rom, because you don't have pure AOSP for your Galaxy 10.1 - 2014
But you can go to see Cyanogen Mod website for seeing when a version could be released => Cyanogen Mod Website
I'm going to closed this thread because all links has been provided
If you need more technical infos about specific rom, go to the different threads -
Thanks in advance and good luck

Good evening..
Will there be an official CyanogenMod 10.1.0 for the Samsung galaxy S2 plus [i9105p]?
Thanx
Hi geisha508,
I don't think CM will support the device yet. If the unofficial build is well tested and fulfills the requirements (read about them at http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Doc:_Submitting_A_Port) it may be possible.
thanks for the link ...
I hope that maybe it still works.
would be a shame because the phone is really good.
from samsung it will probably be no Android 5.0 if we are lucky maybe 4.2
Hello all,
I'm new at the development scene and would like to ask for some help and tips on porting/creating roms. I'm attempting to port Android 5.0 to my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and just learn about porting/development.
I have SDK Database, Cygwin Kitchen, Skipsoft's Android rom dev kit, and a few other dev applications. What I would like to know is there a GUI application for windows that I can breathe life into my roms and test them before I flash them? Or is it just trial and error? I have downloaded Xamarin, Genymotion, NDK, and a few others trying to find a way to emulate my phone in a virtual environment. Sorry to bother everyone with this, but I thought I'd ask the pros for help.
I'm a huge fan of the Cyanogenmod devs, Team Viper, Team kang, Team Carbon, and a few of the others dev teams out there. I've rooted and installed custom roms in all my devices as soon as I unboxed them. Sorry, but the customization of roms is what I love and to be able to shape/form them by any means possible is awesome to me.
Thanks again in advance for the help and ha ve a great day/weekend.

Hi everybody,
I am now using a Galaxy tab 2 P5110, running under Android 4.1.2, not rooted.
My problem is that my Tab is really slow when I use basic apps (chrome, office apps).
In order to get a bit more power from it (removing the Samsung layout, but I know it's a 2012 tablet...) I am looking for the most stable ROM I could use, and if possible running under a quite recent android version.
I am quite new to this kind of manipulations, so I am also looking for a tutorial to instal the ROM you could advice me.
I know I have to root my tab before doing anything. Does the tutorial available here (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1657056 - by Weltwon) work with 4.1.2 android version?
Thank you all for your answers!

Edit: I have an other question. Is the root enough to remove the Samsung touchwizz layer? If yes, how to do it?
Lineage OS 13.0
You could get a Lineage OS 13.0 nightly, and from my experience those are fairly stable.

For starters if you want to get rid of TouchWiz you can remove all of the bloatware and Samsung apps (like TouchWiz home, AccuWeather widget, Samsung Apps, Group play).
But I recommend just install custom ROM. Maybe cm11 or cm12.. I am using Dhollmen 4.4.4 on my tab for 1 years and it is working very well for me.
Thank you for your advices,
@tasnim_tamim: I dont know Dohllmen. Is it à cyanogenmod Android version? Which tab do you run under this ROM?
@orionboughton: are nightly versions if lineageOS stable? I have heard that these are update vert often, and some Android functionality can be disabled
Its a ROM based of SlimROM.. I am running it on my galaxy tab 2 7.0 p3100
Lineage OS 13.0
Lineage OS is basically an updated version of Cyanogenmod, so i guess that's what it's based off of.
I've been running a nightly of Lineage OS from their website at https://download.lineageos.org/espressowifi , and it's really smooth compared to touchwiz and the ram is managed much better. The camera works, the gyroscope works, and I've only had one or two problems (like root not being enabled out of the box, and needing to flash a supersu zip to get that running), and besides that it's all good. If you have a problem, rebooting usually fixes it and I've rarely had to do that in the past few weeks I've been running it.
Another plus is it runs android 6.0, which seems to be better in every way. Great standby time, 4h or more screen on time, etc.
However if you do decide to get it, make sure to flash with the latest version of twrp, and if not you might softbrick your device.
Guys, I am new to this forum. My Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 (7 inch) T231 is running on very old Android KitKat version 4.4.2. This is the last official OS update received. Many apps are not supported on this old android.
Please provide a stable Lineage OS version, ROM file link and whole process to install.
I will be ok with installing Lineage OS version 13 and above (i.e. Marshmallow 6 and above), which ever is most stable.
Thank you in advance.

Since you are new, a few words...
People may understand your request different, like one understands "is there some out there who can help me and how can I help..." and others may understand "give me that ROM, you are there to provide me stuff..." So better be slightly "overpolite".
Developers and development teams just share their work on XDA and improve it based on the feedback the users or other developers give them. We can be happy, that XDA is a big development hub and have to be very respectful. :good:
The Tab 4 is a very old device, in my case I just use it as a small power bank. Display resolution, RAM, system speed... however, developing may be suspended and you cannot expect newer custom ROM releases.
I will explain quickly because Galaxy tab 4 7.0 variants don't get support.
8.0 and 10.1 models have SD400 (msm8226) SoC, 7.0 has a Marvell for the wifi variant and an Exynos for 3G and LTE variants. And it's easier to work on qcom-powered devices
I'm gonna go ahead an do what nobody else here would and answer your question. And it indeed works because I did it just last night. Just follow the link below

Hello Everyone,
I have a tablet of the Samsung brand.
Samsung T230, Galaxy Tab4 7.0 Wi-Fi (SM-T230)
Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 - Full tablet specifications
www.gsmarena.com
Looking at all the posts that have ROMS available, I am confused as to select which one.
I am looking for a stable release of the most latest version possible which will perform the following.
1. Removed Bloatware
2. Improved Performance
3. Updated Youtube and Youtube Kids
4. Wi-Fi should work
I saw quite a few ROMS however, some are saying that they only work Snapdragon versions, some degaswifi mentioned which is a new word for me.
I would appreciate anyone who could assist in selection. I am familiar with the process of getting root access and installing TWRP.
Please Help.
Thanks.
