I still have my Droid DNA, which is the phone I switched from prior to the M8. The only problem is, I cannot get past the lock screen since the middle of the screen is badly broke, causing touch to not register. I really need to pull some files, and the only way I can think of is using adb pull. Then after pulling the files from the DNA, I'll transfer them via USB to my M8.

As long as you are in PlatformTools you can "adb pull /sdcard". If you want any data apps that are not backed up with Titanium you will need " adb pull /data"

I need real help guys.
Last night i change my desire s to s-off and rooted it. I then decided to stop the processing and went to unroot it, by loading a stock rom back onto the phone.
Everything seemed to go fine, i switched the phone back on and everything looked fine although the superuser was still on the phone.
The phone then sporadically started turning on and off and when i tried to enter a few menus i was greeted by android.process.media has had to stop etc and there was another one.
At 6am this morning the phone started vibrating and froze so i turned it off, ive now tried to turn it back on to change it back to normal, but the phone now wont turn on.
I cant get a charge LED and when plugged into the laptop it makes a funny jingle from the laptop and not the duh duh that you would normally get when plugging a usb device in the laptop.

Hey did you tried adb .. does it shows your device..
Check it, search forum for adb setup..
then
open cmd
adb devices - to see if adb recognizes your device
adb bootloader - to get into boot loader menu
if you successfully get into boot menu try flashing once again RUU(check in DS Delvelopment section)
else you are S-ON , i guess after flashing Stock ROM..So better to give in customer service center
I can't understand and get the adb to work

Remove the battery. Wait about 30 seconds and put it back in. Then press and hold the "Volume down" button. Press the "Power" button wait a little and let go. Do not let go the "Volume down"! If it works the phone will boot to the Bootloader. Then check the version (it has to something like 6.98.1002) and post it here. After that try to select Recovery from the menu. Then we will see what will come next

If it makes a sound on connection to the PC you can try to start a RUU but most probably it will not work...
So you next step is the repair center then
Is it going to cost alot or is it worth just buying a new desire s?

As far as I know the reapair is about 1/3 of the phone price. But you can skip the "custom software flashing" part and say only this:
At 6am this morning the phone started vibrating and froze so i turned it off, ive now tried to turn it back on to change it back to normal, but the phone now wont turn on.

If you are a good liar they will repair it under warranty
Since it is completely dead and probably the technicians will not bother to analyze the problem, most probably they will replace the motherboard (eMMC). Good luck...
I have now sorted the adb problem out and install the drivers onto the laptop (no more jingle)
How do i try your first suggestion?

ok. open cmd (command prompt) and type:
Code:
adb devices
if it connects the output sholud look someting like this:
HAJ45345L35H device
you can try the same with
Code:
fastboot devices
and look for the same output
btw is your device branded?
Yes was 3 branded
im getting adb is not recognised.

There is a guide in my signature. It is quite easy. Try it.
If you have flashed a non branded RUU to your branded phone there is nothing you can do even if you manage to connect it to the PC. It will be completely messed up. No offense but since you have difficulties with an adb setup all the advanced methods will be very hard for you. So my suggestion is to go for a repair (if you have warranty) and try with the story that is just stopped working...
But of course it is up to you to decide
completed the adb and says device not found

Look again like another valiant effort, although does sound like your dealing with a brick this time, as you've already pointed out there are benefits here in that the service centre should take device under warranty and either replace or put in new motherboard. No questions asked...but as long as no daft answers are given
I just now got my i727 from ATT after long delay and went to charge it. It got so hot that the phone stopped charging saying the battery was too hot.
What should I do?
Return it, its probably defective. Our phones get hot, but not that hot
4 Defective Atrix 4G's, now I finally get this and it is defective as well? I just put a SGP Steinheil screen-shield on there too..
its all good, it happens to all techies. I remember I got 3 defective routers in a row once lol
Well it won't even show up on my computer now to unroot the thing. I need to do that before sending it in...
How can I remove that app any other way?
just flash stock image using cwm or Odin back to stock
I don't think I can as I only have like 2% battery left and it won't be picked up on any computer at all.
use micro SD and copy stock image to it, then boot into cwm and restore from that,
or
use a terminal emulator from market, and type this
su
CD /system/app
rm Superuser.apk
or use root uninstaller and remove it
or use root explorer and navigate to /system/app, mount as r/w, and delete superuser
It won't even turn on now, even when plugged in.

Maybe you're the one that's defective
Are you using the stock charger and cable? Samsung products are really fussy...
It just turned off, I took it into the store and they gave me a new one as well as gas money to get there (90 mins away) for all my troubles.
hello,
i have had my htc for six months and with in the past week the volume DOWN button completely quit working. lately it has been acting buggy; freezing, running slow, not wanting to charge(possibly cord). so i did a factory reset today with appx 23% battery. now it is stuck at a black screen with android on it. and it will go black for a second and then come back. it was rooted with rcmix3d. :highfive: to everyone that helps me.

Wait. When you turn the phone on, is it literally booting and turning off and rebooting, or is it stuck at a black screen? Either way, when it's on and connected, try
Code:
adb devices
and see if anything turns up.

i turn it on. it goes to the white htc screen then to a black screen with "android" on it. and there is a light scrolling on it like the iphone "slide to unlock". it will then go black and then restart the same page. for adb devices all i got was "list of devices attached" is there absolutly no way to get my phone into recovery mode, so i can whipe the whole damn thing, without using my volume down button?

i am getting a replacement phone in the next week or so. thank you for your help though
Its probably your memory card if you have too many fines in certain areas it will cause a boot loop I found out the hard way but when I removed the SD card it booted normally

My girl has a RAZR HD which he dropped 2 days ago. Screen is shattered and stays black. we got a replacement from assurion and I have to send back this broken one. Only thing is she wants the pictures deleted from the phone before we send it back (far from PG rated stuff on there). I tried transferring by plugging into the PC but it says the folder is empty. Im unable to mount internal SD card. and she had no external SD card.
no im not familiar with ADB, but thats my last resort (learn it quick or have a friend pull from SD thru adb). Any way to mount (without looking at the screen) so i can do an easy transfer on the PC?
Thanks!
If all you want to do is delete them, why not flash the phone back to stock with RSD? Would erase everything including the pics

Good idea... put the phone in fastboot and flash the original sbf
Sent from my XT925 using xda premium
Are you sure that will erase the internal SD? I did this a while back when there were some OTA issues and I don't remember my internal SD being wiped.
Also, screen was stuck, it had full battery and I was unable to turn off the phone to get into fast boot. Just waiting for the battery to die since she charged it recently.
Edit - yes I tried holding power and volume down and that didn't work to turn it off. (Maybe do to lockscreen?) So just going to wait for battery to die.

You could also do a "fastboot erase userdata" or "fastboot -w" to wipe everything.
Tried everything. Without a working screen to touch, the ability to turn on USB debugging is not possible. Can't get into recovery or fast boot with the power and volume rockers. Nothing.
Computer won't recognize device in adb.
With phone off, can I use rsd to flash sbf file? Having no luck and its about time to get dirty with it. Don't care about retrieving files.. just want the photos on the phone gone.
Few seconds in the microwave should zap all components of the phone, eh? Any safer or easier ways? I think if you even choose to submerge the phone in water, the internal SD can dry and eventually be readable.
Gotta ship it back soon.
Originally told insurance company the screen simply cracked. Now let's say something more drastic happened to the device... say it was theoretically run over by a truck.. would..
a) they try to charge you more than the basic $100
b) they even try to keep some of the internal parts (sd)

If it's only the screen that's busted you could try accessing fastboot blindly by getting the right number of Vol +– clicks... And since USB debugging is off it would be the only way I know of accessing it... About the microwave... I have no idea how it could impact the device but it's never a good idea to microwave a battery...

How to get pictures off of brokoen razr HD
Here is a great Youtube video for retrieving your Data(picture, video etc..) off of a broken Motorola RAZR HD. They use a micro HDMI cable and a USB mouse. Since I cant post a link...... Here is the title of the video "Motorola Razr HD Data Retrieval with Broken Screen"
I know this is a little older.. but I just discovered this:

maybe helpful!?
Got used HTC Sensation XE, the only problem is that it is not starting at all. No HBoot, no recovery etc. Sometimes it's possible to make it turn on screen backlight, but screen is still black. When I connect it to PC, it doesn't show up as QHSUSB_DLOAD, so it's impossible to run HTC Unbrick.
I was told that phone was operating normally and then it suddenly shut down.
Need some help.
